Questions: Would a vet vaccinate puppies that were not microchipped? Yes, it's not the vets job to ensure that puppies are micrichipped, it't the breeders responsibility to make sure they comply with the CAA. All puppies must be chipped before they are sold or given away or before they are 12 weeks ( which ever comes first ) All the vet can do is educate People that breed tiny dogs, is that for real about being too small? It's complete garbage, small birds , mammals and pups are chipped all the time. It's a cop out from the "breeder" and I use that term loosely. Will my friend have a problem when she goes for the next vaccination (that is if puppy has even had it's first one) or will a vet just microchip no questions asked? Your friends just needs to tell whoever makes the appointment that it's a second vacc and chip. The clinic will have the necessay paperwork on hand. A complaint should also be made to the local council, regarding the "breeder" and their failure to microchip.

Erny, it's fine to use whenever. Vet said would only be a concern if you were giving it to them undiluted in large amounts or if they over drank. They would vomit, as dogs will do when they have too much water at any one time.

Of course it matters, the integrity of the register is now at stake and a buyer has also not gotten what they have paid for. A letter of complaint needs to be written to the canine council in the state that the pup was bred and registered in and any supporting evidence should accompny the complaint. -

Pardon my silly question - Can you 'overdose' a dog with electrolytes? IE If you gave it to a dog that doesn't need it, can it do any harm? I used to feed my horse electrolytes when we had a big run eventing or working-out. But I found that fairly easy to assess because the sweat on horses is obvious - you can use that to tell if the horse has lost a good amount of fluid. Dogs don't sweat quite as obviously. So, is there any harm in giving the electrolytes 'just in case' due to conditions? You can use Vytrate for post transport stress as well as dehydration. You know if your dog is a poor traveller, stresses on weekends away, drinks less water or if you've been out in the ring in the sun or have competed in a sport. I'll ask my vet what amounts she would consider harmfull if any. Mine wouldn't have more than 200mls a day and given the huge doses that apply to the body weight of other animals, I'm not worried about giving too much. Vytrate was the one she recommended for travel and weekends away showing when it's hot.

Dog electrolyte rookie question - Do you use the sachets or the liquid? Even though some of the websites say its for cattle or pig scour, I assume its the same product? Do you modify the dilution rates at all or is the dosage suitably managed by intake amount associated with the animal's size. Lastly, do you offer fresh water at the same time or make the electrolyte the first drink and after that offer fresh water? I think I'll be all sorted after these questions. Thanks I make mine up in a two litre plastic bottle for the weekends, with about 100mls of Vytrate, I make it a little less than suggested amount. I keep the bottle in the esky. It depends on my dogs, some of them that are not big drinkers get Vytrate only in their bowl for the day, others that drink more get a drink of Vytrate and then plain water for the day. If your dog doesn't travel too well, I would use the Vytrate as soon as you arrive at your destination. There's no hard and fast rules and you will work it out after a few uses if one drink is enough, to keep the dog spritely or if you need to leave it with the dog for the day.

I wouldn't be too worried about it, there are plenty of us little fish out there, who are still competitive, without the spending big $$$$ or dragging dogs around the country 52 weeks a year. Enjoy your dog and enjoy your time in the ring. -

If it's for a Stafford, make sure your crate is metal, soft crates will last about two minutes with a puppy -

I would be pissed off to say the least if I had people rocking up on my door step on a Sunday arvo, just because my address was listed and they could. I have no issues with genuine people coming to visit, but if they are interested in our dogs or a pup, they can call first and come when it suits me. I'll bake a cake, make the a cuppa and make sure I can spend a decent amount of time with them. -
You could pick it up at vets or order it online through Horse Supplies Direct. They are very fast with their ordering and if it's in stock it's in the mail the same day if ordered early.

Pups are docked somewhere between birth and 3 days, so how were they playing happily afterwards ?

Rspca Discussion Paper On Puppy Farming

Microchipping laws in NSW wont get tweaked because that would tell who bred every puppy thats sold and it takes away the ability for puppy farmers to remain anon when they sell to pet shops or agents. PIAA will fight this and so will breeders who have to date been able to avoid chipping or who have chipped straight into the new owners name so council doesnt know they are in their shire and breeding commercially. Is that really all that stands between us and getting a tweak of chipping ? -
Reduce the amount of their daily meal. Stop treating the one you aren't training and don't reward the other as often. There's more to training than shoving treat after treat into your dog and it must be an awful lot , to be putting on weight. Liver treats are low fat.

A 30 or a 36 inch crate will be fine for a Frenchie. I would be more inclined to get the 36 inch, so that the dog can lay with it's legs full stretched out. Even though they seem like fairly small dogs, we had ours in the same size crates as the Staffords, the Frenchies really appreciate the extra room, especially when it's hot. -
What a neurotic idiot that one is...
