  1. What I really want to know is, how can two of the possibly shortest coat breeds in the world ( SBT and Whippet ) make dust bunnies ?
  2. Double check as we haven't been able to book there for a couple of years now, thanks to the usual idiots that ruin it for the rest of us
  3. Gabba, I also just realised that you were asking about chips the other day. Chipping is now mandatory in QLD. The breeder MUST chip the puppy.
  4. I had heard of one vacc that was supposed to start earlier and provide full protection by 12 weeks but can't remember which one it was.
  5. MY OH builds website, creates online forms and applications etc. If he can test everything to make sure it's functional before it goes lives, surely the people that work on behalf of the CC's and get paid tens of thousands of $$ can do the same.
  6. The first at 8 plus weeks and one a month after for us.
  7. You won't need to do anything with the papers , as the dog will already be in your name. You must however be a member of Dogs NSW to exhibit the dog.
  8. Hi SBT123, The CCC of Q. send all the registration papers directly to the breeder. The breeder is the one who then distributs the papers to the new owners or does a transfer if any of the pups were registered to them. I understand that, but the new owners should always check with QLD breeders if the pups are going straight into their names. They may not be aware that many QLD breeders will wait until all pups are sold and details of new owners are known, before they register the litter. "Where are my papers" is a question often asked when it comes to QLD. I guess I'm pre-empting the next one
  9. Your pup will always have CCCQ papers as that is the state that the pup was born and registered in. Just confirm with your breeder if the pup is being registered with you as the owner, if that's the case they will arrive shortly after the litter is registered.
  10. If you want a real laugh, go and have a look at what the dog in link came back as http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=182671
  11. I guess that attempting to track their fate and why is a start. Greys in pounds tug at my heart more so than any other breed. I guess time will tell if a form is going to make any difference to those that are considered disposable by so many.
  12. A good bath and then a blow dry with a force dryer will help to loosen up and get rid of more coat in one go. My house always has dust bunnies and it doesn't matter how many times I clean up after the dogs. You just have to learn not to owrry about what other people think of your house. I reckon that those of us with dogs, probably clean more often than those who don't.
  13. If you didn't breed the dog it should already have been done prior to being sold or given away. The rule in NSW is that every puppy must be chipped prior to change of ownership or before the puppy turns 12 weeks ( whichever comes first ).
  14. ummm yeah and hasn't that been fun, took me two phone calls, one email just to register on line :D Instructions for NSW were sent out in the mail with my renewal. Email wasn't on the data base and had to be added, despite being confirmed on my renewal for the last however many years. I put in my details exactly as per my card, using the capital letters and all, big failure that was. Another call to the CC only to find that my card details, were not what they had on the data base. I'm not sure if I want to venture past viewing the journal, as it's easier to buy a stamp and mail things off ;)
  15. It didn't get out of hand, it went as it should. It's not a minor matter that the sire is not as represented on the papers and your friend has done the right thing. Absolutely, it's not just some petty, trivial thing, this has the potential to impact on the integirty of the register and affect more than just this one breeder. They should be doing all they can to sort it out.
  16. I would be asking for my money back from the breeder, as they did not get what they paid for.
  17. Better off in my cat trap , then to be ripped to pieces by my dogs. I no longer tolerate any cat in my yard, even for the first time. They make my dogs bark and I will not have a council complaint lodged against my dogs. My neighbours shouldn't have to put up with dogs barking and as a responsible dog owner, I will take whatever steps I fell are necessary to prevent this. If dogs get out, they are taken to the pound, so if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for a roaming cat.
  18. If anyone wants to buy their own, you can get them cheap on ebay and also my local IGA ( of all places ) stocks them and they are the same as the one's that most councils have
  19. Surely if the DLG companion animals office was approached in NSW it could be done. It really could be as simple as Greyhounds NSW contacting them with the idea and a circular and form going out to every council.
  20. There's got to be a better way to report. I think one way to overcome the box ticking and manipulation of the self reporting system, for those who choose to dump, would be for pounds to fill in a form for any Grey that comes in. The vast majority have tatts ? it could be as simple as the pound ticking and then sending it back to GRA surrendered left in night pens stray and then the outcome rehomed rescued euth'd
  21. Sandy, I'm so very sorry for you loss. He was a gorgeous boy and I know he meant the world to you.
  22. Ditto, stick it somewhere in the garden out of sight. Bait it with a nice can or mackeral and drop the contents off to the pound.
  23. Daisy, to me it's the kinder option to PTS, rather than dump in the pound. If they were surrendered to the pound then they could be rehomed/rescued straight away, but many don't, they dump them and the dogs then have to serve time. There are always more Greys needing a home, then there are foster/rescue/GAP places. I can't see how not allowing to leave in pounds is going to result in any more dogs not getting rescue, anyone with an available place could take one of the list of trainers that are waiting to do the right thing. ETA: Maybe this is the start of at least some form of accountability.
