  1. I think you spelt that wrong. It's actually spelt "piles" very wrong but that's good compared to my typing of late.
  2. Use 3mls Malaseb to 100 water. Make it up in a sauce bottle and squirt into the ears. Massage and then let the dog shake it's head and use a dry towel or paper towel to wipe out the inside of the ear.
  3. Make them a banana, carrot or plain old butter cake. It's once a year and a piece of cake isn't going to kill your dog.
  4. It's not just the clear leadership and consistent discipline , CM really drives home the importance of exercise and occupying the mind.
  5. How do you figure that? From what RL has told us, his dog was in it's own yard, contained by a fence. The neighbours dog somehow got it's leg under the fence and RL's dog had hold of the leg. If your dogs are on your own property what more can you do? It is up to the neighbour to keep their dog (and it's legs) inside their own yard. That is why I am awaiting legal advice on this matter. I never said it would be fair There was an opinion in an above post regarding the legalities. The reality is that if someone makes a complaint to council that your dog has injured another, you will most liekly find yourself in a battle with council proving that you were not at fault. Even if you know your rights, you may also need to engage a solicitor to spell it out to council for you. It costs and it's VERY stressfull to be in that position.
  6. I don't agree with or necessarily subscribe to everything he does, but I respect the connection and the understanding that he has with dogs and the ability he has to show others, that they can achieve it too.
  7. That's all well and good but try telling that to a ranger when a neighbour or member lodges a complaint for something as minor as that incident. Personally I would go straight into cover my own arse mode and bugger the good will these days. I've seen owners dragged through the system and forced to consult with a solicitor for a dog than inflicted a scratch on another. The poor people went through a hell of a lot with rangers visits, demands to surrender the dog, threats of NOI's and it went on for months. Their breed of choice was a Rotti too.
  8. I've not had to take one of mine back, but I've had a few of them come and stay. A couple have been a real challenge for their owners and I've looked after a couple for a few weeks, to give them a break and some extra training. I'd do anything to help an owner overcome any problems that might be having and so far it's worked out. As the old saying goes " prevention is better than the cure ". I do understand that sometimes things happen in your life and dogs can find themselves in a postion where the owner is unable to care for them. If you carefully select the homes for your puppies and offer the support , then it should be the genuine cases where dogs come back
  9. I just don't get it, why chuck the dog from a car. If you are that desperate to get rid of it, at least dump the poor thing in a night pen at the pound
  10. That is the most touching thing I have ever read.
  11. Well to me it is LOL I have no idea but I think it's right
  12. I would take my own back in a heart beat. I also help when ever I can to get others that have found themselves without a home, back to their breeders.
  13. I wouldn't pay a cent, it's up to the neighbours the ensure the safety of their dog and that includes making sure that the dog cannot get through a fence or any part of their body. To pay anything is an admission of guilt and if they decide to get nasty about it, there goes any defence you may have had if it comes to a dangerous dog order.
  14. Does anyone need anything ( other than trailers ) shipped back from Davenport on the 9th ? We're doing a trip over on the Monday night and back on Tuesday night. We're also coming back from Melbourne to Central West NSW on the Wednesday and will pretty much have an empty 4wd and trailer, if anyone would like anything transported. Would prefer not to take dogs over on the boat. Cheers
  15. Journal doesn't mention camping. It's a pretty small town. I've been through there plenty of times but I'm not really local enough, to tell you what's available Boorowa Blue Metal Motel Cnr Queen & Market Sts Boorowa NSW 2586 - get directions ph: (02) 6385 3186 Boorowa Shire Council Caravan Park Brial St Boorowa NSW 2586 ph: (02) 6385 3658
  16. I think some people need to look outside the Pit Bull box that they live in. Terriers have been described as "game" throughout their history and it's not limited to dogs that will fight to the death or the extreme example that has been used. The humble little JRT is referred to as a "game little Terrier". The Lakeland is another example, expect to follow a fox into a narrow lair and also hunt Badgers. Fox Terriers, were expected to take on Foxes much larger than themselves, they were used to drive the Fox from it's hiding spot or den out into the open. They do it with courage and tenacity.
  17. It probably was in good health, but we've all seen the RSPCA goons in action. They can't even catch a bloody sheep without stressing it, I can only imagine how skilled they are when it comes to Koala's and their management. Sadly, give them another couple of weeks and they will have managed to kill the rest or get them into such a state where they will need to be destroyed too.
  18. Hardly surprising given they've managed to kill dogs in their care, return animals to owners in poor health despite being in good health when seized. For all creatures great and small.... what a joke that it.
  19. I take an esky packed full of the dogs frozen wings, flaps and roo tails and I find it takes a few days to thaw out anyway. Pack wings into iceream containers.
  20. You'd think that idea would work but it doesn't. Take the ACT for example, you pay extra to keep an animal entire, yet the pound is still seeing a large numbers of entire dogs and dogs that are not even registered. It makes not an ounce of difference to those who do not intend to do the right thing and it's just another cost and piece of red tape for those who do are responsible with their animals and wish to keep them entire.
