I'd like a white on thanks, so I can give it a mowhawk and make it look tough

Awesome, I must invest in a Toy Poodle that screams like a banshee. LOL
-
Bans or No bans, the APBT will always be around and those who love them will always own them. That sort of comment does your cause no favours either. Those with influence and those who make the decisions care very little for talk like that.

If you are referring to ANKC registered Staffordshire Bull Terriers as "caricatures", those dogs are fine for the time being, as Dogs NSW sealed the deal for them years ago. Thankfully, according to those in the know, they look nothing like and do not have the gameness of the "working SBT" ( translation = Pit Bull ) , while ever we can continue to distance ourselves from those dogs and generic brindle dog, we should be fine. Breeders breeding to the standard, breeding wisely and selecting the very best puppy buyers, should ensure their future.

And whilst people talk about "working" which equates to "fighting", there's no hope either.

An automatic finger breaking device would be handy LOL

It's not any different, we do kill and eat cows, along with pigs. People throughout time have eaten just about anything that can be eaten. As long as they aren't killing and eating a dog that I've bred, I don't have any worries with it. Tourists and people from overseas are often horrified that Australians eat what's on our coat of arms too. They'd probably be devastated to find out that I feed Skippy to my dogs 4 or 5 days a week too.

Uk Owners May Be Forced To Take Out Public Liability Insurance
WreckitWhippet replied to horus's topic in In The News
Once again only those who already do the right thing will take out the insurance, the rest who couldn't give a stuff, still won't give a stuff. We have compulsary microchipping, that's a simple and affordable proceedure, but owners can't be bothered to follow the law and do that either. If it doesn't work here, it's not going to work in the UK -
Irish staffies are KC registered SBTs which are bred longer in the leg and used by dogfighters in Ireland. The dogs have KC papers and are safe from BSL. As usual most are simply family pets. I assume that's what APBT means by working stafford. The show staffie is too short in the leg to be a working breed of any sort. In fact staffie owners from the UK find Aussie staffies impossible to be the same breed as the UK staffie, which of course they are. Many (not all thankfully) are a caricature of the old english pit bull. Off topic, when does one use the terms Staffy, Staffie, Staff or Stafford? Are they interchangeable? I use them interchngably but some people claim there is a difference but can't explain what it is. oh my dear dog, I've read it all now.

It's not the first time I've had someone take it out on the dogs. A few years ago at Spring Fair I had a dog drugged, he was fine in the morning and promptly fell asleep about 30 minutes before he was due in the ring. We had trouble waking him up, let alone being able to show him. I packed up and went home.

The Kennel Club does not recognise "Irish Staffies", they recognise the Staffordshire Bull Terrier only. So can someone tell me what a "working Stafford " is ?

Limit Register And Travelling Overseas
WreckitWhippet replied to nicolatu's topic in General Dog Discussion
Limit register dogs can come and go from any country, just like any old dog, be it cross bred, BYB or a rescue. Because they can't be exhibited or bred from, they cannot be exported and re-registered with another controlling body overseas, it doesn't mean that they can't travel. -
The AST, SBT and APBT are not the same dog, please dont post that kind of information on a public forum for uneducated people to believe it. They aren't the same, similiar, but not the same. They are not even the same by apearence. Working staffords could pass as an APBT by appearence, but not all working APBT could pass as a staff by apearence. This by its self shows the difference in the 2 breeds and the different direction some of the breeding programs have went over the last 100 years. I would say they were the same if they were continually crossed into one another or even every couple generations but it has been a long seperation and breeding goals have probably been slightly different even though they are both working dogs. What is a "working Stafford" ?

Hernia's - Care To Share Your Knowledge?
WreckitWhippet replied to Trisven13's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I think it will be a case of the vet either has to euth the dog as the owner requested or if they are not prepared to do that, hand it back to them. If the paperwork was completed and the money was paid, sadly that person that took the dog to the vet to be euth'd, is the legal owner. -
My heater is set to 24 degrees in winter and stays on 24/7 for the first three weeks. The whelping box has a leat lamp, that the pups can move under or away from as they need to. I turn off the heating when they reach about 3 weeks and when I move back to the bedroom and they have their heat lamp until they are 6 weeks or so.

The dog would be performing a disappearing act if it was caught in my yard more than once.

Ear-gluing - A Different Question Than Stitchs
WreckitWhippet replied to Trisven13's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
If you pick a puppy with neat, small rose ears at 8 weeks and one drops when teething starts, how are you altering the structure of the ear if you glue it back into the original rose postion ? The crease is still there, it's the same as it was at 8 weeks and if you don't follow the original crease, you've screwed the ear up anyway and it won't sit the same as the other. If you started out with two over sized drop ears and you glue those, you're a fool. -
They don't have to do anything unless council decides to take any action. I would get as much info as I could about the dog, a stat dec from the "rescue" ( use that word loosely) stating what they thought the dog was when they took it in and placed it. Then sit back and wait.

Fresh Start So Everyone Can Have A Go

Yeah I'm going. So is that 3 from motel to airport ? -
APBTS are a restricted breed which must be muzzled in public. Add insurance/liability issues and you might have more sympathy for their position. APBTs and ASTs are NOT the same breed in the eyes of the law. Of course if you have no papers to prove your dog is an AST, you're in a world of hurt. I'd suggest these people talk to their council and arrange a temperament test. You can't go straight to TT in NSW, you must first have the NOI and have passed breed ID for the TT to be considered valid under the act and by council.

I saw Shane on the weekend and he was very excited to have been nominated again this year. They were very worthy winners. They would have the most difficult job of anyone I know. -

My thoughts exactly... she was such a good girl though coming straight back I was lucky it was her and not Brett. Brett would have gone off to bring down a pony or tackle that Camel that growled at him in the morning. He thought they were alright naked, but wasn't impressed when they were wearing their nanna rugs and hats
