The fines are seperate to any impounding fees and charges. I actually think that part of the system works well, the dogs are claimed and then the owner cops the applicable fines for having a dog at large, unregistered, not chipped etc. You could contest the first the unregistered bit but should think yourself lucky that the dogs were impounded and not kept by someone who could have picked them up. There's also no point blaming the breeder for the paperwork. You would have recieved a white piece of paper from the breeders local council when the first change of ownership was completed. It's up to you as the new owner to confirm those details are correct. Again it's your responsibility to make sure details are correct upon lifetime registration and that you maintain them throughout the dogs life.

Great Weekend For Our Amstaff Furkids

Thankfully I've now given it up and won't be subject to their nonsense, it's going to be a hard road for those breeders that choose to stick it out and actually care what their breed looks like, acts like and it's integrity.

OMG he's every bit the spunk that Rocco was and the camera loves him. I've got a tear in my eye

They made a big deal out of following the dog around on the news. It would have been too easy to lock the dog in a kennel until the diamond came out

Would that number 7 be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier or an American Staffordshire Terrier or the "rare blue" ? They could at least get the breed names right

I'm talking about NSW, where the BA's are predominately Dogs NSW judges or breeders. You have claimed for the last however many years that the law is fraudulant, yet no one has challenged it. If that were the case and they'd been successfull, every tom dick and harry with a Pit Bull would follow suit. Now there's talk on a public forum of falsifying papers ( they would have to be ANKC papers ) to prove to rangers that people own a certain breed. Now that really is fraudulant, but for Pit Bull owners, that doesn't seem to matter, it's just a means to an end, that threatens to dump every ANKC Bull Breed in the same basket. It's about time the Pit Bull owners, changed tact because 4 years on, nothing has changed in this state and the threats of " your dogs will be next " is still the number one catch cry.

4 years down the track and nothing has changed. You'd think by now if that was the case, that someone would have successfully challenged it.

Friends Dog Has Ear Infection
WreckitWhippet replied to lovemymutts's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Malaseb shampoo that you dilute? Yep. it works wonders and unlike many of the solutions and drops it works and doesn't irritate. You can use it as a cleanser, I use it every couple of months when the dogs are having a bath. You squirt it in, massage around and let the dogs have a good shake, before wiping out the ear with a dry towel or piece of paper towel. -

Remove dog from all foods that contain grains and yeast. A course of AB's to help kick the infection. Cleansing with a solution of 3mls Malaseb to 100 water. -
Help Please! Problems With Going On A Walk
WreckitWhippet replied to Alison Ma's topic in General Dog Discussion
_________ I try to walk her as often as I can. Lately, she goes for walks on Saturday and Sunday. We take her to the beach on the weekend which normally tires her out for a day or two. That is nowhere near enough exercise. You need to aim for at least 45 minutes to an hour every day -

Don't leave the house while she is an an over excited state. Leave when she is calm. Harness, halti's etc are no substitute for basic obedience and some manners on leash. -
Recommendations – Good Puppy Dry Food

Why change ? I'd just cut the pasta and increase the meat. Royal Canin is good. -
It's up to you if you feel comfortable boarding the dog. I often board dogs for the longer term and can honestly say that none of them have given a crap that their owners have left them behind, for whatever reason.

Bans or No bans, the APBT will always be around and those who love them will always own them. That sort of comment does your cause no favours either. Those with influence and those who make the decisions care very little for talk like that. Once again i here what your saying, But its just reality, do you really think the APBT will become extinct because there is a ban on them? I think that in time, the only bull breeds that you will be able to own without restriction, will be those with ANKC papers. That is what the APBT supporters should be working on IMO. If the authorities want papers, it's not hard to organise papered breedings to satisfy the requirement. Are you suggesting that APBT owners undermine the ANKC registry and it's integrity by falsifying documents and applying for papers that do not rightfully belong to that animal ? That's going to gain a lot of support , amongst the ANKC breeders .

Isn't it obvious, to get more people to blindly participate.

My Whippet hates anyone and everyone, she's a look but don't touch kind of girl ( she wouldn't bite, she just prefers that strangers leave her alone ). She got a surprise tackle and hug from a young boy who I think had down syndrome, she stood there let him pat her all over and hug her around the neck. It's not like her to be patient but she appeared to relax and take it all in. The boys father was quite shocked and said that he wasn't normally this gentle with anything and why couldn't he treat his sister like that. I think they must have been having a bit of a rough morning with him and his behaviour.

Where Will Your Next Dog Come From
WreckitWhippet replied to poodlefan's topic in General Dog Discussion
Mine will only ever be ANKC registered dogs and bitches, they may or may not come from breeders that list on DOL. I can't say DOL has influenced my decisions, however it has introduced me to a couple of wonderful breeders and I have dogs and bitches bred by them. -
Is It Possible To "break" An Ear?
WreckitWhippet replied to FD26's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
If one is beginning to drop and you don't like the look, then you need to be taping and gluing NOW. If you are not fussed about it correcting itself and can live with the one up, one down look, then leave it. ETA: there's no point in wasting time discussing ears with a vet ( unless your vet breeds and exhibits dogs ) they would have no idea what to do or why you would want to do it. If you are thinking that you might like to show in the future, the glue or tape now. You may find that a couple of weeks of support is enough or you may need to continue on for a while longer or tape/glue again for a while around the 4-5 months mark. I forgot to add the same applies for ears that are going to fly, they can be very hard to tame if you don;t get onto those early -
There still seems to be much confusion about the AST and the APBT being the same and dual registered. The American Kennel Club recognises only the American Staffordshire Terrier, it accepts for registration only those dogs and bitches that are born from AKC registered parents, the AKC does not accept Pit Bulls onto their register. You can however take your AKC registered American Staffordshire Terrier and apply for registration at some of the registries that basically register anything on four legs, regarldess or parentage and have no credibility. You cannot take an American Pit Bull Terrier and register is as an American Staffordshire Terrier on any credible registry in the world. Anyone who tells you that they have a dual registered American Pit Bull Terrier is an idiot and have no idea what they are on about and one wonders why you'd bother to take your AKC dog and dual register it as a Pit Bull, given the current BSL climate.
