  1. If it's localised, leave it alone, put the dog on an all raw diet and use board certified aloe. It often gets worse before it gets better. There are a range of products you can use depending on how severe it is and if it's become generalised. Stafford puppies will often get it after their first or second vaccination. They can also be prone to break outs as they teeth and also around the 7-9 months, when their hormones are raging, they have just been through the stressfull time of teething and some major growth spurts. Avoid any vet that is gunho with the moxidectin, ivermectin and demodex wash.
  2. Not tested for in Staffords, we can DNA test for L-HGA and HC at this point in time.
  3. RSPCA is the only organisation that can seize evidence, not allow owners an opportunity for a second opinion and then detroy it. They also take all of your records, which includes the things like how often you worm, your receipts for food, vet work etc... the very things that you would present in court to defend yourself. If you don't like how they operate and you get screwed over by them, it's tough luck, there's no one to complain to.
  4. The humble Stafford, would have to be about as lower class as they came :D right down there with the Whippet
  5. The RSPCA goes in seizes dogs, grinds you into the ground, drains you of money and cripples you emotionally and that's before you even get your first day in court. I've seen people give up, as they are too tired to fight it any more and they simply want it to be over. It's amazing what you will agree to , when you are being emotionally black mailed and basically have your beloved pets held to ransome. The day the RSPCA is able to be held accountable for their actions and they get back to the grass roots of caring for animals, I'll think about changing my mind and encouraging others to support them. When members on here talk about experiences with the RSPCA, they are not restricted to a particular branch or area, the corruption, mismangement and blatant abuse of power extends all over the country.
  6. I sat in court while the RSPCA screwed over one of their own and inflicted so much pain, humilation and emotional anguish on two people, that I doubt will ever recover and killed a few of their dogs, while they were at it. I didn't make that up.
  7. I've seen first hand what the RSPCA is capable of , when it comes to breeders and rescuers and let's just say " all creatures great and small " does not extend to fellow humans. If the breeders of this country and others don't look out for themselves and put the RSPCA back in it place, then there will be no more pedigree dogs.
  8. You can't rule that it's ok for some and not for others, especially when the back yardies with their cross breds, are breeding the same thing as the 300 plus dog puppy farm. Truth be known, the bitches breeding in most people's back yard, would at least have some human contact and a bit of love and affection, the same goes for the puppies. The BYBing in the majority of cases, would be the lesser of two evils in terms of animal welfare.
  9. Less policing from the RSPCA , more caring for "all creatures great and small" and butting out of issues that don't concern them and it would be problem solved. I don't give to them, don't adopt from them and do not support them in anyway and I encourage my family, friends and anyone I meet to do the same.
  10. I refer people who want to adopt a rescue dog to reputable rescues. I warn them away from the RSPCA too.
  11. The pup will be on limited register for sure.. but she is not giving them to me till she has proof i've desexed them.. or something like that. Is that what papers you mean? Because, there are a lot of papers involved!!! ;) this can be confusing. I know, I get to choose the name on the registered and everything too... Yes I mean the ANKC pedigree papers, that belong with a buyers dog or puppy. Witholding limit register papers, would not stop those intent on breeding from doing so, all it does is provide an inconsistent experience for genuine puppy buyers and creates confusion.
  12. It's nothing against the breeder and I'm certainly not judging them for whatever they are doing to protect their lines and the puppies. It just sends mixed signals and messages to other puppy buyers and many get ripped off when it comes to papers and breeders who withold them. If the pup is going as a pet, then it should be on the limit register, the papers are useless in terms of breeding registered litters anyway. I know Charleswentworth intends to do the right thing, but anyone who was intent on breeding unregistered pups, wouldn't give a crap if they got papers or not. I'd prefer to see the breeders either co-own and retain papers until the animal is desexed or desex that animal prior to it leaving the kennel and provide the papers as per the canine councils rules and regs. Once a new owner pays for the puppy, the papers are righfully theirs.
  13. I'm sorry but papers belong with the dog, unless the breeder is retaining more than a 50% share in the dog.
  14. My thoughts are with Bob's family and may they finally get some justice and maybe some closure and peace.
  15. It's never going to go away and it won't stop while the demand is there. The best we can do it to educate potential buyers and point them in the direction of the ethical registered breeders. To be honest, we really need to be targetting the lower socio-economic areas and implementing heavily subsidised desexing programs, in order to prevent the accidental and unwanted litters. That is something that we could get owners to take advanatge off. Going in hard with the blanket desexing rules, just means that owners won't register their dogs, if they intend to breed them. I'd rather see owners encouraged to desex, chip and vaccinate.
  16. Entries can also be given to Amanda Stapleton with the Pugs at Orange Ag show, this coming weekend.
  17. Speak to the breeder or shelter about what cue's they have for the puppy now. Try and continue with whatever they are using at the moment to avoid confusion. Family members also need to be consistent in that they do. Everyone needs to use exactly the same signals.
  18. I'd run a mile from any breeder, breedign primarily for colour, but that's just my own personal opinion.
  19. I don't believe in compulsary desexing. As much as I dislike the deliberate breeding of cross bred dogs, it is not fair simply to say someone cannot breed because they are not a registered breeder of an ANKC recognised breed. He will go to court and he will win this one.
  20. I don't advocate chopping and changing dry foods all the time, but there are plenty of dogs who refuse to eat and simply do not enjoy certain dry foods. If someone has persisted for some time and with little luck, then I suggest a change in dry, rather than constantly lacing it, to make it more appealing.
