I invest my time in the newbies, so they get get their handling skills to the point where they are competitive and can show off their dog or bitch to its full potential. None have ever been worried about collecting their little ribbon or looking for a card, they've come out of the ring wanting to know what they can improve on. I think that's what they should be focusing on. Like Ceilidh, I've never seen a Res CC card. I got my first res cc the day my first dog turned 6 months, the reward for me was the judge telling me that the dog was nearly there. The next day he did it and went on to RUBOB and Minor In Group

It could well be that he's bumped his ociput. We expereinced this with a pointer baby and weren't so lucky, it came up as a big lump and we ended up draining it with a needle, quite a few times before it went down. Sway expereinced the same thing at almost the same time, she took a different course of action with hers, that I think involved her chiro or the greyhound man. Do you have any pics ?

I am very encouraging when it comes to newbies and the ring. I go out of my way to during the week to give handling lessons, I help new people out on the weekends, stand ringside and make sure they are in and out when they need to be and explain how it works and what you do. There are far bigger things to worry about than collecting a 10 cent ribbon or a piece of cardboard

Pet Dogs To Be Put Down After Killing
WreckitWhippet replied to Abigail's topic in General Dog Discussion
Absolutely. -
You can walk a table breed into it's front by placing the dog on the back of the table and encouraging it to step forward. I've done this with both the Pugs and the Whippets. If your dog can free bait on the ground, you can certainly do the same on the table.

Res CC enables the dog or bitch to go back in for RUBOB , depending on the outcome of the BOB. I just can't see why people get so excited over a Res CC and a ribbon and certificate, unless it's a Specialty show or the Royal etc.

Our's was $6 for repeats without consultation and the price of meds was bumped up to cover dispensing fmeds as part of a consult. Either way you paid and you paid twice if getting a repeat without the need for a consult. I don't care what my vet charges me. I pay for their service and the professional opinion. My dogs get what they need and then I look at the bill.

What's the point of having a Res CC Certificate, it's not points and it's completely useless. I can understand collecting the Res CC ribbon from a Royal, Specialty or other major show but not an every day champ or ag show.

Would You Buy These? If So Which Brand/ones?

So is the Heartgard the safer one? Is that the one you're recommending? I personally don't like either chemical and suggest you research both yourself to pick which one you would like to use. -

Proheart is for heart worm prevention, it contains moxydectin. Heartgard ( you can also get the plus for intestinal worms ) is ivermectin Whatever you do, don't get the Proheart Slow release injection. -
Let's hope that Dogs NSW , the CCCQ and the other state bodies can manage to save the Amercian Staffordshire Terrier, after someone kindly dumped them in the deep end.

Check the puppy on a regular basis, I'd check every day while having a belly rub and check the base of the tail , they are areas where fleas will generally be. If you are in a heartworm area, then look at using a prevention for heartworm only and worm each 1/4 with drontal or another broard spectrum wormer. We don't use any heart worn prevention , but we do prevent the mozzies from getting on the dogs in the summer months. Our area is too cold for heart worm. -

Depends on where you live. We use none of those products, we worm each 1/4 and that's it. If you don;t have fleas and don;t live in a tick area, then why pump chemicals into and onto your puppy/dog. The same goes for heartworm prevention. Moxidectin is nasty stuff. -
Depends on the bitch but many get under the 37 degree mark.

Maiden bitches generally like to make a fuss and think their world is coming to an end when labour starts ;) I'm sure you won;t miss it. Put some newspaper in your whelping box and bunk on the lounge for the night. Most bitches will scatch up and make plenty of noise with newpaper, that will let you close your eyes and have a bit of a rest tonight.

Anyone Got A Contact For Deshonko ?
WreckitWhippet replied to WreckitWhippet's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've been dared to register Deshonko as an ANKC prefix. Ah...... no. Go on, if you don;t I will -
Don't panic and that all sounds normal. She will most likely pant, get a bit frantic with her nesting, become unsettled and frequently want to go to the toilet, when she has started labout. Take her out to the toilet on lead tonight or make sure she's toileting in a well lit area, as bitches frequently look for a nice dirt patch under a car or bush in the back yard. Her temp will probably drop a degree.

Horrendous Handling Blunders
WreckitWhippet replied to BittyMooPeeb's topic in General Dog Discussion
Touch wood, 15 years down the track and I'm yet to fall over I haven't done anything too bad of late. I handled a Mini Pood once, after showing the big dogs, checked it for pulling and it flew off it's feet. ooops -

It's more than a disgrace and it's a shame we can't euth owners along with the dogs. I hope Mr Schoppert recovers from his ordeal. -
