Alright I'll be the mug who says it. What's so prestigious about a show that many of the owners of the breed can tell you who is going to win. Now don't say it doesn't happen it does. Many times I've opened the schedule and saw who was judging and knew who was going to win, again, don't say it doesn't happen it does. I attended a two day Specialty in April and I can tell you now the dogs that I thought might go up didn't necessarily, some did, some were well placed, as good dogs and bitches deserve to be. In classes of dogs and bitches of 20 plus, it is prestigous just to place and it is an absolute honour to be pulled out and placed on the pegs infront of your fellow breeders/exhibitors and alongside the very best the country has to offer. Even better when your dogs are right up there and winning. When 200 plus of the countries best dogs and bitches are gathered in one place, there shouldn't be any CC points on offer anywhere but there. It's a shame that some exhibitors can only see value in a few challenge points. The lack of CC points on offer appear to be the big sticking point in this discussion , for quite a few.

Nationals and Specialty weekends are prestigious occasions, they are about the breed as a whole, getting together a big entry and show casing the breed. The Specialty or National Challenge is the top award ( in my eyes ) that one can recieve, it is an honour and there shouldn't be any others handed out for that particular breed , when one is conducted.

Your right to attend is not removed. You can still attend any show in the country whilst there is a National on, let's not forgot that.
-
Surely people can't be that hard up to title a dog, that they can't miss one weekend in a year or two whilst a national is on. They could of course still enter the local show, participate and show their support, it simply means no points. The no points thing also works in the reverse for those who choose to attend a National or Speciality. There might be only one or possibly two sets of CC points on offer for that weekend and with an entry of a couple of hundred each day, your chances of getting them are much less. I would give up at least 6 weekends of all breeds showing each year to attend Specialites. I might only attend a couple of Specialty weekends, but the amount of saving required, means that something has to give. And yes, I too live in a rural area and if there's nothing local on, it means hauling a trailer over the blue mountains.

I reckon that will work LOL and there's nothing wrong with pink

I just want to stop them spinning and seal them up when camped in the cold, without having to get inside and turn the vent. I know I can't forget to take the covers off and won't risk cooking the dogs during the day.
-
I was just wanting to cover them at night when I camp. Shower caps were looking good but I thought that somewhere in this world, someone would make them LOL

Do they make them and if so, does anyone have any idea where to get them ? I've googled but I'm not sure what I should be googling for.

How Does One Become A Registered Breeder?
WreckitWhippet replied to jackie_a1's topic in General Dog Discussion
Gayle, anyone can breed pets with nice temperaments. A truly successfull breeder, breeds dogs that are the entire package, in terms of type, temperament, structure and soundness. They are winners in the ring, as well as excelling at other activities. -
Act Man In Court Over Rottweiler Death
WreckitWhippet replied to quintessence's topic in In The News
And to think he would have been able to control his dog with a little bit of training and some exercise. -
The more I think about it, the more I like it and if more breeders used it instead of putting everything on the main register, my breed for one would be a hell of a lot better off. There wouldn't be hundreds of poorly bred blue litters every year and a hell of a lot less dogs and bitches out there that look nothing like what the breed is supposed to.

If there was no LR, breeders would simply make sure that they co-owned everything and maintained the controlling interest.

How Does One Become A Registered Breeder?
WreckitWhippet replied to jackie_a1's topic in General Dog Discussion
Jane should also find herself a mentor, show her dogs and learn about her breed, before she even considers breeding. You may well purchase a puppy that is showing potential but it may not end up good enough to be bred from. -
Given the RSPCA's anti pedigree stance, it's hardly surprising

Lamb Flaps From The Fresh Meat Store
WreckitWhippet replied to Clyde's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I cut mine between the rib with a big knife, then twist one piece one way and the other piece opposite to that, it will break and then I get the knife and finish cutting it. Failing that, the axe is always handy, it does my roo tails too You've seen me and I still have all of my fingers and toes :D -
The handler had no idea I was there taking pics and the fog rolled in just as I started clicking. I had to make the most of bad light and fog. :D To me it captured a moment.

If the dog came from NSW, it can be upgraded from limit to main at any age now. The rules on limit to main changed last year. That aside, if the breeder feels that the dog is not worthy of an upgrade, then that is entirely up to them. Everything should have been put in writing at the time of purchase, stating how and when the dog was to be assessed and what would happen of the dog was deemed not suitable for upgrade. I don't have a problem with the limit register as it stands, my personal belief is that every pup not being retained by the breeder, going to a known show home or remaining co-owned should be placed on the limit register.

There's nothing stopping people from entering, we still had a Lab entry on the weekend, even though the National was on.

Help Max Stop Peeing On His Sister..
WreckitWhippet replied to :ange:'s topic in General Dog Discussion
One of my dogs used to pee on the bitches. He did that until he got a crack across this arse end, whilst in the act. He never did it again. -
That is so sad, for the owner and for Spike.
-
I voted no CC's to be handed out. It doesn't stop anyone from supporting a local club, you can enter and show your dogs, you just don't get awarded any points.

I can see why you were guarded in disclosing the breed. Good for you for disclosing it ! Not surprised at the outcome. Poor Cavalier! I would have loved to have had a stick in tow and hit that mongrel between the eyes! How many more dogs have to be victimised at the jaws of these animals? are you really trying to say what your words are saying, or am I interpreting that you have it in for Staffords? Chewbacca, I have owned staffies before, two of them and both were unbelievably affectionate pets towards both my hubby and I. God only knows I can still see my male staffy whinging when I was applying my lipstick shortly before going out, he just knew and showed his sadness each and every time. Purebred english staffies are great little family members but they are DA (before people start jumping up and down I do concede that not all are DA, there is always the exception to every rule). The DA bit is the only thing I dislike about the breed and the potential for damage, which as far as I am concerned, exceeds any other breed. I have three current Staffordshire Bull Terriers ( there's no such thing as an english staffy ) and have owned and boarded numerous others. I am yet to own a dog aggressive SBT and infact they should not be dog aggressive. The true Stafford in bold, fearless and totally reliable and is a gentleman, unless set upon. I don't deny that there are dog aggressive Staffords out there, I have seen a few even amongst the pedigree registered dogs and bitch, however the vast majority of them are not.

You did disclose the full story. Now your a victim of peer group pressure. You didn't find it necessary tin the OP? Disclosing the owners incompetence should be the focal point, as the behavior is the result of the owner. Since when has it been a crime to talk about the breed of dog ?

I'm just disappointed in yet another piss poor owner, that can't confine their dog.
