  1. There's no point in trying to knock off the BYBers, they aren't competition and there's a short supply of well bred pedigree dogs in the vast majority of ANKC breeds.
  2. same ....8 weeks ( or older, I try and hang out a bit longer ) 4 weeks after that and 12 months later
  3. It's not elitist, it's the truth. The people that come to me and many others like me, so so because they want a pedigree animal. I've lost count of the number of people I have spoken to who have said " we want a registered dog this time" " or " we want a dog with papers". I have never found the BYBer, petshop, PF to be in direct competition with me. Well bred pups from ethical registered breeders are somewhat scarce, compared to the number of buyers looking for them and to be honest, we are not even competiting amongst ourselves for a sale, it's a constant circle of referrals, trying to assist buyers to find the pedigree puppy they want.
  4. The people that come to me, do so wanting a pedigree dog, therefore the pet shops etc are no competition at all, as they do not supply what I have.
  5. Yep, they just need to be chipped, then you register them at your local council and then maintain the details as you change address etc.
  6. The ethical registered breeders do not have any competition from the puppy farmers, BYBer's or the pet shops.
  7. NSW is the home of the Companion Animals ACT and there is no restrictions on the numbers you can have. The only time you will have an issue is due to a complaint.
  8. You don't need to word you add to be better than a BYBer, by simply advertising that you are am ANKC registered breeder immediately distinguishes you from them. xxxxx pups available to loving homes, Dogs NSW registered breeder, Master Dog Breeders member contact xxxxxx
  9. It's a good way of the ethical registered breeders getting out there. Potentially good owners read the papers and look on the net.
  10. I've watched breeders raise pups with love and care, put off vaccinating them until an age where the vaccine if effective. They've done this to minimise the number of vaccines they'll have in a lifetime and in some cases sent them off to their new homes needing only one booster at 15 months. They've raised them on natural diets, limited the chemicals they've been exposed to and have given them the very best start a puppy could have in terms of health and socialisation. I've then watched new owners allow their vet to give them a C7 vaccine and pump them full of chemicals in the form of pro-heart and un-do all the care the breeder has taken. Personally I am very vocal about what vaccines my pups are not to be given and also things like PHSR. I am like this because I care about what I breed and how I raise it and I want the pup to live a long and healthy life.
  11. As a breeder, if the buyer doesn't like my terms and conditions, tuff luck, they can find another breeder. As breeders we are expected to guarantee everything under the sun and when poo hits the fan it's naturally all the breeders fault. If you want me to guarantee a pup, you can raise it how I expect it to be raised, especially when it comes to things like vaccination and desexing.
  12. Buy a crate and travel your puppy in there. They have their own space, you can keep them below window height and they are much less excited/stressed, when travelling in one.
  13. Air time isn't much use when he uses it to misrepresent a breed and promote and be very much responsible for the flood of designer dogs. fifi Or you think the breed feature is going along swimmingly and that it will be informative and it turns out to be nothing like that.
  14. Nickojoy, do not email me with facts that differ from what has been posted here on DOL. If you want help with a problem, then be upfront about it all.
  15. Priceless where did you come by it? Strange call alright. Very condescending! We had them handed out to us in about 1996 ( 'twas a long time ago ). I have a feeling that Toohey or Jed may have revived the sticked in the last couple of years. The British Bulldog folk, took exception to his ways and mass produced them.
  16. Thanks for the afternoons laugh LOL What was that sticker on my old car , something about " Pedigree dogs, ask a breeder, the gardener doesn't know "
  17. I don't advertise the price because for some it may be the full asking price, for others I may give them away.
  18. Three month old Stafford pups are way beyond the puppy pre-school age, they are big enough and smart enough to begin some basic lessons. Taking a Stafford pup of that age to pre-school, you run more of a risk of over exciting the pup, losing any control that you may have had and developing more bad behaviours, such as jumping on the other pups, pulling on the leash and not playing appropriately. Cosmolo, I agree that a "good" pre-school could be helpful, but my experience as a breeder sending new pups off, tells me that the majority aren't and it's a puppy free for all. ETA: the pup should be well on the way to learning to sit, drop, lead and come when called by now. These are the things you should be doing now, rather than waiting for pre-school. Hence why I suggested a couple of private lessons to get you started if you need help.
  19. Give the pups a chicken wing or a nice meaty bone to chew on instead.
  20. Desexing is not going to fix any unwanted behaviours, training and leadership are. In a couple of weeks time, he will be too big and boisterous for puppy pre-school. You would be better off enrolling for formal obedience classes and spending the pre-school money on a couple of private lessons, with a qualified trainer to help you on the right track.
  21. Julie is one in a gazzillion and I think the organisation with it's dedicated volunteers and true animal lovers, really has the potential to take off and make a huge impact on animal welfare and the welfare of animal owners in this country.
  22. Bull Arab is not an ANKC recognised breed. Here's a little bit about becoming an affilate. Perhaps the hardest thing in seeking affiliation is operating as a social club for the required amount of time and maintaining the required member numbers and interest ETA: Just read that you now have the info.
  23. Cool thanks, will double check exactly what was given to the pup in regards to worming tablets or heart worming. Also - the 3rd vet didn't look at the pup he made the diagnosis over the phone!!!!! and also said even though the parents are cleared the pup can still get it!!!! This is a well known Sydney vet mind you. A pup that comes from clear parents or even a carrier to clear mating cannot be affected by L2-HGA. If they are in doubt, they can swab the pup and foward it off to GTA.
  24. Reaction to ivermectin, moxydectin or one of the other nasties maybe. L2-HGA doesn't tend to show up that early. ETA No vet can make an L2 diagnosis just by looking at a pup. They need to swab and send it off to be tested.
  25. Aziah, you hit the nail on the head, it's also an opportunity to sit ringside and take it all in. I know I go to look at certain dogs and bitches that I've seen pics of and would otherwise have no chance of seeing in the flesh. It's also an opportunity to look up up and comings pups and also what dog and bitches from the previous years have put on the ground.
