  1. If you can't afford a working hydro, look for a one with a pump that's stuffed and just use the bath part. I rarely turn my pump on and have the water connected from the laundry and wash by hand.
  2. Eight years ago I used to groom a bitch that was from QLD and was one of the first AB's. She should have been desexed, not used as a foundation bitch. Allergies, a bad front end and a deformed tail ( had no tail just a hole in her back to the spine, that was always festy and infected ) and died at the age of 6.
  3. The CC's suspend the transfers etc, to stop people who are suspended for essentially giving their dogs to others to show and breed. You could try writing a letter to them, including a stat dec, as to when you paid for the pup, that date the pup arrived etc and hope for the best. It's not really fair on you, but they have the rules for a reason
  4. The arse has started to fall out of the market for the rare dilutes. Those that are breeding for colour, with no thought to anything else, are now finding them hard to pass on.
  5. Thankyou Thats what i was after.. If you dont mind me asking - how much are those crates? It varies, but here is the website: http://www.eastcoastcrates.com/FoldingDogCrates.html We have one folding and one standard. Both have the grooming table top. Ours are the 400 size. C-crates here in Oz make a folding one.
  6. Ooh, if you do would you be willing to post a pic at all? I'd definitely prefer to buy locally than have to order from OS. a PM is fine I'm going to have a crack at it this week and I think I shall make a coat that includes one. Should be fun Let me know how they go, I would possibly be interested in 2 x greyhound size ones and 1 x whippet size You might score a free Greyhound prototype you can road test them for me

  8. I'd never thought about that before, but my Sessy so needs one of those LOL I have spare fleece and I shall make one this week
  9. The negativity, bitching, back stabbing and other behaviours I think have been highly over exaggerated. I've been showing now for 15 or so years, I started by myself, with virtually no help and no one rolled out the red carpet for me, as newbies have so often come to expect these days. Most of the complaints, bitching and the other goings on I've heard from exhibitors with second rate dogs and bitches, who can take hack it when they lose. Yep, some nasty stuff happens, but that's life and part of everything that is competitve, it's always been the case. It's the costs and restrictions that have seen the numbers drop, not the bad sportsmanship.
  10. Sorry but a dog or bitch should be good enough to earn it's title and that means competing with the best of the best.
  11. I can tell you now, none of mine, be them pup or adult would have been getting in any dirty berth, crate or van, full stop.
  12. Simply because gone are the days when you could own ten or 15 dogs and have a reasonable sized kennel in your back yard or on you small acre blocks.
  13. another reason why we no longer have any cats
  14. It's Staffordshire Bull Terrier or Stafford English is reserved for the BYBer and those with no idea about the breed, they seem to think it's a way to diffentiate between the Amstaff ( American Staffordshire Terrier ) and the Stafford. "Staffy" is the name for the generic brindle dog, anything that's below knee height, which may or may not be SBT or a cross.
  15. Me too LOL except I think that it tastes like a cross bewteen honey and deep heat
  16. I've discovered the 20+, that will be what I get when this jar runs out. I thought 16+ was the most potent, Mauka got. I'm wrong LOL I'm using it to assist with the treatment of kennel cough
  17. if you are going to feed lamb necks , feed them in 3 - 6 inch pieces, the same as your feed roo tail etc.
  18. So i take it, if there was a slight chance of any breed being placed on the BSL list you would steer clear of it? do you stop supporting your favourite sport teams when they're losing? change your political party because of popular opinion..? It's not a just pitbull fight is a BSL fight. I fully support the ANKC breeders of the American Staffordshire Terrier, the exhibitors and the pet owners of the ANKC pedigree dogs. I also fully support the CCCQ's current stance and the degree to which they want to seperate themselves from the Pit Bull and any attempts they make to secure the future of the pedigree Amstaff. The fact is the Pit Bull is on the list, it has a bad rap with the pollies the majority of the general public and why anyone would want to associate themselves with that and think that is the best way of avoiding their breed becoming restricted is beyond me. Clearly Dogs NSW and the CCCQ have adopted the strategy of distancing themselves, it worked for the NSW pedigree animals and I hope to Dog that the CCCQ can secure the future of the pedigree American Staffordshire Terrier in QLD.
  19. Wont you want support when they come after staffies? Like i said it's bigger than the pitbull. Wouldn't you rather have legal controlled pitbulls instead of thousands of 'staffie crosses'. Another example of why the Pit Bull fight is going no where fast.
  20. I would treat that as a season and take the appropriate measures to ensure that she is safe from dogs. I wouldn't bother with the vet either, just keep a diary of the dates changes started to happen, when the discharge and swelling increased and decreased and any changes in her behaviour, such as flagging, sulking, tarting around etc.
  21. Quite frankly the APBT is a lost cause, BSL as it currently stands is not going to be overturned, pollies don't care, it's not a major issue for them now they have the laws in place and the majority of the general public still feel safer, thinking the dreaded Pit Bull is off the streets. It's time for those who have been clinging to the false hope and the empty promises, that BSL is about to end, to have a good hard look at just how little has been achieved in terms of over turning BSL in the last few years. All that has happened is additional States have come on board and the laws pertaining to dog ownership have been increased. Call me an ANKC snob or whatever other insults the so called anti-BSL brigade want to chuck about but the fact is, the Pit Bull ship sunk years ago and it's a wreck on the bottom of the ocean. The reality is, by sticking together (standing alongside the Pit Bull ), the ANKC breeds are going to end up in the same place, because the Pit Bull apologists can't see the wood for the trees and it's the same old , same old recycled catch cries over and again. I won't apologise for wanting to look after the ANKC pedigree dogs in this country.
  22. My advice to puppy buyers is this: If the puppy is of good quality and sold on limited register, go elsewhere as the conditions IMO are "over the top" as essentially, you are purchasing in reality nothing more than what used to be formally recognised as an unpapered dog Don't be fooled by the reasons why "your" puppy on limited register is best for you, it isn't best for you at all. Your integrity is being challenged what you may do with the dog and the breeder doesn't trust your intentions for one. Secondly, the choice to show or breed is your choice to make.........it's your dog, your life. You have done the right thing avoiding pet shops and BYB's to purchase a health tested pure breed dog. If you get the run around with restrictions and closed shop tactics to result in an unpapered dog, why not have a look at some rescue dogs instead which have the same restrictions as the limited register pure breed and are also in great need for a home I'm sorry but IMO that's terrible advice, it is far from being over the top just to have a dog on limited register. Most breeders FULLY explain what the registry means so there is no ripping off, or over the top demands going on. YES it is YOUR choice if you want to breed or show, which is why you should buy a dog papered accordingly. If you want to show, buy on main register, if you just want a pet then go with limited. These days a dog that comes with no papers at all is from a less than reputable breeder. By providing limited register papers at least you know there is a good chance that breeder is a good one and registered with the ANKC. The breeder isn't "challenging your integrity" they are covering their own @rse because I can tell you now, I can't count on my fingers and toes the amount of people who have lied to and screwed over their dogs breeder. Shaar, I am referring to breeders who won't sell on main at all for the opportunity to buy an appropriately papered dog???. I'm one of those breeders who put those going to pet homes on the limit register ( regardless of the show potential ) and sells/givesaway/co-own those on the main register to known and approved show homes. Tell me why it is, that I should allow every Tom Dick and Harry that wants a main register dog, to have one ? My dogs come from some of the most successfull lines and kennels in the country, their immediate pedigrees contain multi BIS and BISS winners, the dogs themselves have their titles, their close relatives have proven time and again their worth in the ring and as breeding animals. I don't have the right to take that and spread it around the countryside willy nilly , nor do I want to. Those that have come before me, have worked bloody hard to put those dogs on the ground and I respect that. When they handed me the dogs, they made me a custodian of their lines and hard work. Tom, Dick & Harry can't breed under your prefix ..........so what's it matter if their progeny has one of your dogs involved???. If the progeny is no good using your male and an inadequate bitch is not your fault. But is it more the use of your male with a better bitch and Tom, Dick or Harry's kennel earns some wins over yours that you are worried about???. None the less, if T,D or H are producing better dogs than you..........that's good for the breed isn't it???. Sell them on main, throw your hat in the ring like a true competitor............any one can keep winning with a shop closed to competition :D the same old arguement pops up time and again. The breeder is afraid of competition and being beaten by their own if they part with them and in the majority of cases it couldn't be further from the truth.

  24. Write a note saying the dog is barking and put it in the letter box, say that you understand it's settling in and could they please make attempts to rectify the problem. If it's not quiet do the same the following week. Keep a bark diary and then report it to council .
