Dolers With Brachycephalic Breeds Of Dogs
WreckitWhippet replied to Moselle's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've got a 2.5kg Shih Tzu, who is currently chomping her way through a chicken wing. It takes her a while My preference is that my dogs are treated like dogs, regardless of their breed and that they enjoy their whole raw foods. -
If you want to see what the laundry is like for your pup, put yourself in there when it's his bedtime, turn the light out and spend a couple of hours on his bed. Unless you have a heated floor, I can guarantee that it's a very cold and lonely place.

She should have been PTS, if she can't be rehomed with other dogs, cats or children. Fair enough about the cats and prey drive but she's going to come across other dogs and children during her lifetime.

Dolers With Brachycephalic Breeds Of Dogs
WreckitWhippet replied to Moselle's topic in General Dog Discussion
My Pugs ate everything and anything from chicken wings, to carcass, lamb flap, roo tail, necks, lamb necks ( whole not the rosette's ), as well as dry food and the usual things like sardines, eggs etc. I've never had a choking incident but know of others who have lost dogs of all breeds, that have choked on various things. -
It would depend on the breed for me 8 or so would be my cut off for an SBT. I prefer to breed them young ( if they are mature enough ) first season after they turn 12 months, so it would be unlikely. I have no problems at all with breeders using their older bitches, providing they are in good health , have previously whelped easily and are good mothers.

What Is Your Worming/flea Control Regime!?
WreckitWhippet replied to Flick_Mac's topic in General Dog Discussion
NSW - worm quarterly or as required for pups and nothing else -
That is so sweet but all I can think of is how much poo there's going to be in another couple of weeks LOL
-
I reckon my Pinky would like that colour too. I love their collars and leads.

Grooming Tables For Tall People
WreckitWhippet replied to jemappelle's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Get yourself a piece of particle board cut to size, paint it and glue the non slip diamond pattern from Bunnings to the top of it. Mount it on a brick wall with a set of heavy duty hinges and a brace beneath it and you've got one at the right height that folds up. -
Advertise him on websites, in the local paper and tell them that they need to be 100% honest about him being unruly, destructive and that he needed far more in terms of attention and exercise, then they could offer him. If he can't find an appropriate home, rescue or is not a suitable candidate for a services role, then he'd be better off being euth's. Dogs like that frequently bounce from home to home, especially if owners are not upfront about their requirements

The other thing I've heard owners say is that they will chew the harsher fabrics like the ripstop and anything that makes a noise. I've made coats for those owners with a sewn front and tight velco for the belly and they have kept them on and not destroyed them. Double fleece and cord usually doesn't get consumed. The pups coat might be making a noise and the velcro is fun to play with. Many will grow out of it.

or next to me as my dogs sometimes prefer. I don't really mind what they are doing as long as they aren't pulling and comply to my commands when I give them. Same... I prefer the "let's go" method of walking the dogs and as long as they are moving in the right direction, not crossing infront of me and are minding their own business, I'm happy with that.

Do it up so it fits snuggly and then sew the front of it shut in position. I've found that or a higher neck line works well for chewers.
-
That's a no from me too. I examine teeth, ears and eyes on an almost daily basis and always have my hands on my dogs. Any changes that concern me , I would go to the vet. My dogs are fed an all raw diet, are exercised daily and attend a chiro every month of so. I've found since they have been living this way, we see the vet only in emergency situations.

The owner of the dog and their lawyer should have a good look at who is contracted for the ranger services for that council. That man thinks he's a law unto himself. I would also suggest that they look for any failures to follow "due process" and get the DLG involved as well.
-
If there was no notice of intent to declare the dog dangerous and it's not been off the property and involved in an attack, then council has no right to seize the dog and hold it. The best thing a lawyer can do is to look at the due process, in many cases councils do not follow what is set out in the Companion Animals Act . The same applies for any dog that is suspected of being a resticted breed.

There's a smaller one going to someone this week and my guys are taking their's away this weekend. I'll let you know. It's more if the dogs will use them, than the making of them
-
were you asking me ? I reckon I could do it but the material requirements will be huge and I think it would have to be hand delivered to Sydney. Apart from the above, it's do-able

Rockport have some gorgeous shoes as do Merrell.

Brett was raised on all raw from 8 weeks. he grew beautifully, he never splayed in the feet or knuckled over. I was very happy with how he's grown and now starting to mature.
-
Yep, the same as that

Define 'no vet care'. What do you mean - no vet care when sick / ill or no vet care wrt regular flea treatment, vaccinations. How would you improve the conditions of the dogs - what specific care needs to be given so the dogs move from 'inapproprioate' to appropriate care? I don't want to say to much detail. However I meant more along the lines of treating the dogs themselves instead of taking them to a vet. I don't know anymore information then that. IMO the dogs need to be cleaned (they have mattered fur, prickles from bushes in it and are just dirty and smell foul) and have better shelter. I have started to have a soft spot for them. I rarely take my dogs to the vet, unless it's an emergency that I can't stitch up myself. There are many many things that you can treat at home if you have the knowledge , so I won't be so quick to judge.
-
I've worked them out, in a three styles styles. One with a pillow that fits in, the other with a mat and then a straight padded fleece. I can't be bothered to work out how to make the whole shelter thing stand up LOL

I've got a pattern for the round cushions and I'll try a couple of ways and see what works best. Best head off to SL , so I can get started on a prototype ETA: which design do you want me to try Daisy ? they are all different from the links posted and bloody expensive
