Great Dane Club Victoria- Mega Raffle 21 Prizes!
WreckitWhippet replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
Let me know if you'd like me to make something in it's place. I'm sure there's a Dane person out there somewhere that would take the coat off your hands. You could always pitch it as a tent -
More like "forced savings "
-
I don't know that he is. Hand strip out that coat and I reckon there's a JRT under there.

That was an awesome raffle for a breed club. I hope it raised the club lots of money, I'm sure your trophy table will be an excellent one. Thanks for letting me take part -

I think the first place winner should give her prize to me LOL ETA: I'm having a little chuckle about the thought of a Cav in a Dane coat -
Help The Rspca Stamp Out Puppy Mills
WreckitWhippet replied to Ker's topic in General Dog Discussion
If only it were funny. Seriously cleaning up takes time and effort, it costs to employee people to do it or there's the dirty job of doing it yourself. You can't tell me that shit caked to the walls and dogs standing in days/weeks/months or even years of filth, meets POCTA, CAA or any council requirements ? -

Seriously, spot checks on simple things like making sure they have cleaned up after the dogs and there is not shit caked to the walls is a start. -

You are right about that. There is already enough rule and regulation to sink the puppy farmers, it's simply not policed. -

RSPCA is still sprouting the same old crap, telling people not to buy off the net, from the newpaper etc and to make sure you get to look at the parents. I'm sorry but the ethical registered breeders are not often located just around the corner , the vast majority wouldn't be using their own stud and the sire may be states away or used via AI. The best they can do is point people in the direction of Dogs VIC and endorse them, there you'll find the breeders who pay for advertising. Not good enough from the RSPCA and certainly not good enough to get me to sign anything. -
They Say If You Breed Long Enough You'll See Everything
WreckitWhippet replied to winpara's topic in Breeders Community
It would certainly be a shock. -
Another version of 'community service' ,maybe? I guess what I'm thinking about is the thousands of charities out there who are lesser known and would miss out.
-
How strange, that people can be ordered to pay money to a charity

Thanks. The little guy belongs to another DOLer, he's just here having a bit of a holiday.

Maybe Liam would care to explain LOL I couldn't understand a word of it

Stafffordshire Bull Terrier's are the breed that you see advertised as "English", which is actually their country of origin, the name "English" is commonly used by those who BYB and those who have no idea about the breed. Those who know, love and respect they breed call the SBT "Stafford" for short. "Staffy" is the name given to the generic brindle dog, that may or may not have any SBT in it. American Staffordshire Terrier is the known as the "Amstaff" for short. "Staffordshire Terrier" could be anything, who knows what people are referring to by that one The breeds are similar in some respects, but well bred dogs and bitches of both breeds are easily identifiable. Here's the links to the breed standards for both http://www.ankc.org.au/Breed_Details.aspx?bid=46 http://www.ankc.org.au/Breed_Details.aspx?bid=71 Below are Staffordshire Bull Terriers or "Staffords" American Staffordshire Terrier pics can be seen here on the breed pages http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/commun...ire-terrier.asp

Greyhounds, Whippets Or...?
WreckitWhippet replied to bigheartfordogz's topic in General Dog Discussion
The only problem might be this part. My boy is 35kg and quite big and he likes to walk for about 15 minutes optimally, but occasionally we will take him for a 30 minute walk and thats totally enough for him. The other night after a 30 minute walk he wanted to sleep in preference to eating his dinner he was that tired! If we wanted to walk him for an hour, he'd be knackered! Does anyone have a grey that walks for an hour? My boy did exaclty what the SBT's did each night, 5 k's of roadwork. He'd scream the house down if he got left behind. He kept up, did the leash free time and the rest of the roadwork. The fitter they get, the more work they can handle, the more they want. -
Greyhounds, Whippets Or...?
WreckitWhippet replied to bigheartfordogz's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've had both, I find the Whippets to be a little more on the cheekier side but all in all, very similar to the Greys. My two Whippets love playing with my daughter. She's four and already has them well under control. -
So far all I've seen is what looks like some good old fashioned breeder bashing and nothing but complaints.

Feeding Puppies Chicken Wings
WreckitWhippet replied to garyc's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Mine have chicken wings from the time they are introduced to solids, that has included the Pugs and the Staffords. They gummy them to death for the first few weeks but quickly get the hang of it. You can try wing tips for the tiny dogs, but I've not found that necessary, mine have them whole. -
Study May Be Of Interest To Breeders
WreckitWhippet replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
That puppies tend to be frightened of new things, regardless of whether they came from a responsible breeder or not. ETA Thanks for that, Steve. Crap, they are. Met a 9 week old Rotti pup for the first time this week and you'd have to belt it off with a stick. A very confident, happy little puppy, that I met outside of it's home environment. -

WreckitWhippet replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
No, I raise them as tolerant, , multi-cultural puppies. LOL I was watching something years ago on SBS when the litter was first born and didn't change the TV over until after they'd left. The more recent litters get whatever is on, the next litter shall have to live through guitar hero , the poor bloody things LOL -

OMG I have to have some of those above. I'd like a breeding pair please. Forget about all the nasty things I said about you earlier, I have the $ and will send it now.
