  1. Once a week for mine, shell and all.
  2. You are talking about putting a back pack on your dog and increasing his work load. If he's out anywhere ( which lots of dogs are ) he will not develop muscle evenly and you may also find you put in a lot of hard work for very little reward.
  3. As much as you want to jump up and down, the results of any swabs taken by an owner would not be considered valid. Taking your own DNA swab to satisfy your own curiosity is different to taking a sample that you want to rely on in court. The samples should have been taken by and authorised DNA collection officer or a Vet. The animals microchip is scanned and recorded at them time, so as to ensure the identity of the dog. I suggest they have them taken again by someone that is authorised to do so and resubmitt and that anyone else considering using DNA as evidence that there dog is not a retricted breed, do the same. They have essentially wasted their money and do not have a leg to stand on. Whilst the DNA results may be irrfutable, the method of collection is not.
  4. Start with a trip to a canine chiro. That's certainly a dog that you do not want to add more than a couple of kilo's to
  5. Black is not the suburban Pit Bull fanciers colour of choice. It would be highly unusual to see two of them.
  6. Hooray... We have mandatory chipping and rego in NSW yet we can't even get that enforced, how in the hell are licenses going to work ? the simple answer is they aren't. We already have POCTA , the CAA and council bylaws, there's enough there to shut puppy farmers down or bring the standard of living for the dogs to an acceptable level.
  7. The only thing a license will do is add yet another cost to breeding for those who already do the right thing. It will have no impact on the BYBer, because they simply won't pay for one, nor will they be policed. It will be the ANKC registered breeders who are visible and easily tracked down, who will be the one's paying, whilst the rest continue on their merry way. I already pay $100 or whatever the charge is now to renew my prefix each year, I think the last litter I bred will be three in October. Why should I as a registered breeder have to dive into my pocket and hand over more money ? how is that going to make me a better breeder or prevent my BYBing next door neighbour from producing more pups ?
  8. I have concerns about every point and have expressed them before, however this one has now jumped out at me too. What is a "large" number of puppies ? My adult dogs rarely see a vet, they are in peak physical condition, they are fed and looked after in such a way so as not to require vet attention. There are times when I'd prefer no home visits, when litters are on the ground, a litter is expected or there is an outbreak of a disease. Reluctance does not mean that a breeder has anything to hide. What is a "large" volume of dog food. I also work for a pet food warehouse and do not judge our clients on the amount of dog food they purchase and certainly wouldn't be calling the RPSCA because they purchase a pallet of food. I know where they local puppy farms are and one of them has been reported to the RSPCA several times for failing to treat sick and injured dogs, but still they flourish and continue on. Breeders (ethical and otherwise ) buy many things in bulk, from food to bedding, worm tablets, flea control, the list is endless. Are we going to see an RSPCA inspector on the door step because we purchase 100 all wormers at a time or a pallet of dog food ?
  9. Shine a light up into the roof of the mouth, hair line cracks in the palate aren't always obvious and it's worth checking a few more times.
  10. Yes it's fine for dogs and puppies. There are other brands that are not safe for dogs. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...hl=electrolytes
  11. I've got the answer to your rabbit problem LOL The only good fox is a dead fox.
  12. I'd be far more worried about what moxydectin, ivermectin and the like do to your dogs.
  13. Nope and sadly I see legs like that just about every day of the week and they look pretty good compared to some of them.
  14. Ticking is very common in white SBT's. Although she doesn't look like a pedigree dog
  15. Yeahhhh Fwarkie Pointer... Finally your time has come I need to book a ticket so I can come and give him a big slap up the side of the head.
  16. Father daughter matings are not for the novice breeder. There have been a few father/daughter matings in the breed in the last few years, they have produced some stunning and valuable contributions to the breed, they have however been done by those who know the lines, know the dogs and know what they want to achieve from it. That type of mating has it's place in dog breeding but it's not for those who are producing dilutes ( blue ) Good on you for walking away.
  17. In NSW it certainly could be and it would be up to you to prove otherwise via DNA or "breed assessment".
  18. That he's a she and she's about a 15.5 kg bitch. To get they to lay down some nice muscle, you have to work them, rest them and feed them well. Anyone can make their dog into 25-30kgs of fat. Genetics plays a huge part and some dogs will never have it, regardless of how hard you work them. I aim for nice healthy looking pets, with just a little covering over the ribs and for your average SBT that's somewhere between 14 and 20kgs ( taking into account the dogs on the larger side of the standard ). ETA: When dogs are in super fit and ripped condition, their weights do not fluctuate anything like from 18- 25-30kgs. They tend to vary by a couple of kilo's here and there. Mine drop about a kilo when they are ripped. You need to judge your dog by the way it looks, not how much it weighs. Bigger is not better, bigger often means fatter. Do you have an idea of what yu are hoping to achieve ?
  19. roo tail or a good piece of lamb flap, the ripping action will help the baby teeth to come out
