I am having that issue at the moment. All my whippets are doing great on one brand yet I'm STILL finding it hard to keep any kind of decent condition on my fawn boy. He is a real poor doer. His coat is still dull yet the other whippets do fantastic on it and their coats gleam. So I'm starting him on Nutro and will go from there. I currently use Artemis Osopure Power which the others do really well with. Sess has been a pain in the rear end when it comes to weight. She has put it on and looks great on Black Hawk. I've been through a lot of option with her and this one clicked.

Brindle she colours them hairs in shudd-up Those one's all have some brindle hairs in them. The two on the left are black/brindle and white and the one on the right is actually a brindle. I have mastered the art of light, background and converting to black and white. They all look black ;)

I have several cat chasing dogs, my concern is what is going to happen when one of mine catches up with the kitty. The cat will end up dead, no doubt about that but I'm more concered about the injuries the cat claws can inflict on my dogs and who in the hell is going to pay the vets bills. I don't want them walking through my yards, shitting in my garden ( we had the experience of a dog finding cat shit in the front yard yesterday ) climbing into and sleeping in my puppy enclosure and spreading their fleas about. After the weekends poo experience, it's obviously time to get the cat trap out again and deal with the problem

Biss- Should You Enter Property Classes?
WreckitWhippet replied to Irish Lassy's topic in General Dog Discussion
Many property classes at specialties are not judged by the same person who has just done or is about to do the classes. I see no reason why your shouldn;t compete, it's part of the competition. The BIS and RUBIS may be the overall dog or bitch that wins on the day, but there will almost certainly be something there that shines in terms of head, coat, etc, -
Yep retained canine and it's not uncommon. Just get it taken out when the dog is neutered

Cat trap and take it off to the local pound. You can trap them, you can either hire one or you can purchase them cheap off ebay ( our local IGA even sells them ).

My SBT's get salty water applied a couple of times a day, including when it's started to scab over.

There's no harm in feeding raw and chicken wings will cost you less than feeding dry

well I've ticked of title Bretty from my list and he's provided me with a whole heap of wins that weren't expected at a young age. 2011 - will see the new babies out and about, I just need to pick who is staying

Reputable Kelpie Breeder Recommendations
WreckitWhippet replied to koalathebear's topic in General Dog Discussion
You can't go past a Goodwill Kelpie. Sound and stunning. -
I would recommend following what you breeder tells you. They would know more about their lines and pups than anyone else and no it's not uncommon for pups to be put onto adult food early on or raised on a combination of adult dry and raw.

Keeping Dogs Out Of The Ring To Help Others

You can't win.. People complain if you show your CH or GR CH's, whinge if you pull them and they can't get enough points, whinge when you win and take their points I've given up worrying about it and those that have whinged about me showing mine, I go and play on their doorsteps and go that bit further where I normally wouldn't, just to shit them :D -

It makes sense and it's nice for friendships to split your dogs and bitches over the classes, if you are travelling with or meeting up with someone you know for a weekend. Beats knocking each other out from the get go. Some exhibitors worry far to much about who's going where and what they are taking. Some of the biggest whingers, when it comes to competition, are those who fail to train and get their dogs working properly in the ring. -

That's bollocks. One of mine that I titled very early on was at that time a rare breed and it was rare to get any competition at all, he earnt his title with group, classes in show and a long list of them. You could take the 25 pointers away from my Staffords and every one of them would still have earnt their title with a BIG. The same goes for my Pointers and the Whippet. I'd like to see the requirements for a title increased, they are handed out like lollies in some cases and people can still earn them 6 points at a time. I don't buy the " my breed is rare " line -

I'm of the opinion that they come cheaply as well. I like the changes to the Grand -

You are 100% right. My boy had been on a bit of a winning streak with 5 BOB's 3 RUBIG's and 2 BIG's in a row. The best he could do last weekend was win his class, so it just goes to prove the point. -

I've had people complain and tell me that I should leave a couple of mine home, as they were titled and taking the points off other people's dogs and bitches. They can go to hell as far as I'm concerned, no one has ever given my dogs an easy ride to their titles. I like the competition and love the challenges that come with big points attached. I've got a younger bitch here, who really can't beat one of my older girls and bugger it, she can earn her title too. I worked out if I'd pulled my older girl she would be just about there but to me, that's hollow and no better than the petrol champions and I will have neither. -
If they pups are shreiking and screaming, it's not being done right

used to do around day two or three, now do them as they are whelped, if required

Because they have the powers of a ranger to act in that situation and many people may not know that in NSW, you can call the police in the event of a dog attack on person or animal. Not having a 24hour ranger, I rang the cops after an incident involving 2 off leash dogs in my street. I was VERY impressed with the way they handled the situation and unlike the Ranger, they showed up after hours and dealt with it. Interstingly the cops are more likely to charge/fine someone under the act and push for damages.
