So why are we, the registered breeders copping the flack and the fall out for every animal produced in this country. If they are sick, it's our fault, bad temperament, our fault, die young, yep our fault, end up in a pound or shelter, of course the registered breeders are responsible for that too. Hell, we are even going to pay for the puppy farmers sins...

Uk Kennel Club To Further Limit Litters For Bitches
WreckitWhippet replied to lappiemum's topic in Breeders Community
limiting the number of times a dog can be used at stud or upper limits on COI's isn;t going to improve a breeds overall health. It's just going to mean that once a dogs quota is used up, the owners of bitches will be using second/third or second rate choice sires. That's if they keep breeding and don;t walk away. It's hard enough to find a quality sire, that is line bred and ties in with your plans, let alone being further restricted. So we have everyone outcrossing to keep COI's within the new "acceptable" number and we don;t see any improvement in breed health, what then ? -
Try repelx, it seems to keep everything off them

Uk Kennel Club To Further Limit Litters For Bitches
WreckitWhippet replied to lappiemum's topic in Breeders Community
Some people might draw the line in the sand and say, they will only ever breed a bitch once or twice, for others it might be three or four and so on. It doesn't mean that those who choose to have a higher number of litters from a bitch who is an excellent producer is any less ethical or does not make their decisions with the bitches health in mind. I respect a breeders choice to have one litter, I respect their choice to have six. It's all about choices and just because one breeders decision is not the same as the next, doesn't mean they should not be able to make it. It's easy to say " ohh well, I only ever have 3 litters " or " I never do close matings " " I won't mate a bitch over the age of 8 " and the list goes on, but what sits right with you and is right for you, is not necessarily in the best interests of other breeders dogs. We are sitting back and letting the rights of breeders to make choices be taken away, simply because it's not something that we as fellow breeders might choose to do ourselves. -

So he's actually killed something ? You need to be loud and clear about what he's done and under what circumstances -

WreckitWhippet replied to lappiemum's topic in Breeders Community
idiots, is all I can say 1 litter can potentially be detrimental to a bitches welfare, due to poor breeding of the bitch herself or poor breeding practices. Those bitches that mate, whelp and raise easily to produce quality offspring time and again, should be the very one's we have larger numbers of litters from. Once upon a time, the bitch who easily whelped and raised 6 litters in her life time was prized. -
The other question not to ask is " why doesn't my dog win " ?

I wouldn't pee on that man if he was on fire, let alone give him anything relating to my dogs that's gauranteed to be used against pedigree dogs in the future.
-
I've been doing that from the first litter I've bred. Every pup that is sold before chipping at eight weeks or whenever I do it, is chipped in the new owners names. All they need do is sign the form for me and it's done. Only those that are staying are chipped in my name. Naturally to become one of the new breed of certified breeders according to dogs nsw, you will have to chip before rego and include the number on the application to register. That puts an end to the above

feed him once a day in the morning. 1 - 1.5 cups of dry and that is a from a proper measuring cup and strictly measured. If you have to pad it out, use some grated carrot or a raw veg mix. on the days you want to feed him a bone, make it a piece of roo tail, depending on wide the roo tail is he will be fine on 6 inch piece, that will do for a meal for a day.

yes please... who made that trolley it looks good

Why Is It Some Shows Seem To Dicourage Interstate Exhibitors
WreckitWhippet replied to Jsk's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've paid from $14 to $30 a night and it depends on the grounds and who owns them. If council/show ground trusts want their cut, you can pay a lot more for camping. Perosnally I think you are having a bit of a whinge over what is a pretty minor cost. A caravan, motel or B&B would set you back a lot more than that. -
I'm not saying you think she's bad or it's her fault. It's just that breeders put countless hours and care into puppies and it always comes as a bit of a shock when things go wrong, she'll be concerned and probably upset. It's just not something that you'd want to read about on DOL, but rather be told first hand.
-
I'd speak to your breeder before you do anything. It would have been nice to let her know of your issues before announcing to the world also. I'd be upset if I bred her and heard second hand on the DOL grapevive that she has problems but you;ve not yet discussed them with me
-
What has your breeder said ?
-
I guess the didn't like what they were told or their breeder got upset for them posting the question. They did ask
-
Crap, the vast majority of our puppy buyers have found us via the Dogz site. Find your breed and away you go. The search function is basic and narrows down the states for you, if you'd like. There is some basic breed information on there relating to temperament, grooming and health.

Breeders - What Age Do You Recommend Your
WreckitWhippet replied to labsrule's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thats interesting. So when you say it depends on the person buying the puppy, do you mean that if a person experienced in your breed buys one of your puppies, then you would leave it up to them to decide when to swap them over if all or part of their pup's diet was going to be dry food. With regards to what they are going to feed, do you mean raw vs dry food or does it depend on the quality of the dry food i.e. supermarket brands vs premium/super premium. Yep it depends on their experience with the breed, feeding raw and the quality of the food. 2 of the current buyers wanted to go all raw. one feeding top of the range premium dry and meat on the bone, they are using an adult dry. Their raw is the major component of the diet, they also know what they are looking for with feet, pasterns, growth and development. There are a couple who are just starting out, they are using a premium dry, a little meat and will be staying on their puppy dry longer. -

What I recommend depends on the person buying the puppy, what they are going to feed and their experience. -

Flea Alergies On A Bitch With Litter
WreckitWhippet replied to kirst_goldens's topic in Breeders Community
Is it really flea allergy or a hot spot ? Just to chuck something else into the mix. I'd take the bitch away from the pups for 10/15 minutes. Wash the area in a diluted malaseb mix. Thoroughly dry and then apply Neocort to the area, making sure it's well rubbed in and dry before she goes back to the pups. I wouldn't put Imidacloprid on a pregnant or lactating bitch but what's done is done -
Clipping For Summer...
WreckitWhippet replied to Skruffy n Flea's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I often find myself questioing why I do it and remind myself that I do it because I do enjoy it and I chose to groom I thought I was a bit expensive but I'm going to put prices up again next winter -
I'd have no sleep overs. Poodie won't be having any. Not because I can't trust the dogs but because I do not know how other people have raised their kids.

Clipping For Summer...
WreckitWhippet replied to Skruffy n Flea's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
For me to clip your dogs, you'd be looking at $60 plus for each of them. That's clipped, ears cleaned, nails done, bathed, blow dried, clipped and scissored to finish. You'd pay the same any time of the year for the above. I'm the same as Clyde for baths and blow dry, I scissor where appropriate , the feet, face and bum. -
