I figure that you can't get any wetter, so I take mine swimming. Life jackets on and chuck them all in the back of the ute and off we go. I save pounding the pavement and the road work for the nicer evenings.

I had a singleton last year from a natural birth. The hardest part was the first week, she just couldn't get enough milk as she was the only one sucking. It might not work on a coated bitch ( assuming it won't ) but I used the breast pump and expressed off milk , plugged the pup in for feeds and the combination of the two meant she did have some good milk come in and let down. You can express by hand, I just got the back few teats started and left the top one's alone I fed the pup for a few days, it was tough but we got there. I guess you need to decide if you are prepared to keep feeding, look for a surrogate or PTS

I think the breed that people should go into, is the Schipperke. The little black buggers all look the same and how anyone tells them apart or know how many they've got is beyond me -

OMG that's so funny !! I guess if they were extra staffies of the same colour they'd just blend !!! We have a deal, he doesn't care how many dogs I have or how much of our food budget goes on the dogs, as long as he can have his running account at the computer shop to buy bits for his toys !!! fifi Yep I did have a little trouble integrating the Whippets though. The first one I got, I had to keep a secret for weeks and had him delivered to the show. The second one also rocked up but when it came to the thirs, I actually had to discuss it with him I've been known to go away for a weekend to look at a pup and come home with two . That's happened more than once. and then there was this current litter, that I wasn't keeping anything out of. Until 11am this morning, there were still three here at 13 weeks ;) I have all black brindle SBT's and I;m sticking to it for a very good reason -

Heh. I've often wondered about this. I've read things about Dog Lovers Falling In Love With Non-Dog Lovers and experiencing Woe but what happens When Dog Lovers Meet And Fall In Love but their respective dogs might not get along at all!? In our house, I'm actually the fussy one. OH would let the dogs sleep in our bed if he had his way but I have allergies. They're allowed in the house (we deliberately picked laminate over carpet) but they are not allowed on sofa, day bed or in or on our bed. I go to bed first and OH goes and chooses a dog each night to come and jump on the bed with me. Sometimes he kicks whoever it is out when he comes to bed but most of the time I wake up in the morning, with a dog in my face. OMG, I would have the perfect marriage if only my OH had the same attitude as yours. Seems to me, that in life, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Just out of curiosity, what star sign is your OH? Buggered if I know, I;m not into that dribble -

Lucky you! I clean the house, he would help but given that he works full time and I am at home atm, I make it my task to do the chores, that hasn't made an ounce of difference though. If your dogs mean that much to you and you want them all inside, do it. I can't see how or why people live together when they are apparently at opposite poles, when it comes to pet ownership. It's so much eaier and nicer to love and live with someone who is like minded when it comes to the pets Given that we do get along with just about everything else, if I did put my foot down and had all of my dogs in the house it would spell disastrous, he would be packing his belongings and march away never to be heard of again Never mind, he'd just be making way for someone who does love the dogs and would be happy to have them in the house. ;) -

All wormers in bulk , she'll make a packet out of selling them cheaper than the vets. It's not hard to do and they are also very easy to undercut on things like Advocate, frontline etc. A treat bar with things like ears, trotters and chicken sticks , is always a big hit. Let people choose how many they'd like, rather than prepackaged The hardest thing to get from a pet supplies , is sensible and honest advice.

There's plenty of them about. You just have to make sure that they don't come with 10 of their own You could marry me but my Whippedo doesn't like your house for some reason ;) -

Mine doesn't care and why should he, I'm the one that cleans the place and looks after the dogs. We have two inside during the day, the two free range Whippets and at night there's 8. It can be hard to claim a piece of lounge and the corner spot is always popular. You have to trick a dog into getting off and jump in fast Tell you OH to stick it -

Bum height is a very important consideration Saves carting a chair to the ring, given SBT's are second last in the group -
"professional" Dog Walkers Walking Muzzled Dogs...
WreckitWhippet replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't think it was a matter of routine- they also had larger dogs with them that were unmuzzled. Most dog walkers I see have more than 4 dogs under their "control". And even those who have 4 or less, don't really seem to have control over them... I don't really think a muzzled dog belongs in an off leash park unless it is under the control of its owner, not some random dog walker who sees the dogs maybe a few times a week for an hour. Then call the local ranger, with your concerns and get them to do something about it. -
"professional" Dog Walkers Walking Muzzled Dogs...
WreckitWhippet replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
It's illegal for any one person in NSW to be in charge of more than 4 dogs, on or off leash and regardless of size. They may as a matter of routine muzzle all of the larger dogs or dogs of a certain breed in their care, as a risk management policy. Muzzled or not they should still be under effective control and not running up to your dogs or recall as soon as you request the owner/walker to do so. -
What Size Trolley For A Stafford?
WreckitWhippet replied to parrotpea's topic in General Dog Discussion
You don't need the extra height in the trolley, it just makes them difficult to fit in the trailer doors. But the bit of extra room is good. I have the smaller trolley, it goes through the doors of the trailer and easily fits in the car. I use it without the divider and chuck two dogs in. Sometimes I will take it to the rings with the divider in, given the dogs are in there for a short amount of time. The advantage of the lower tolley. It's at bum height and I'm always sitting on my two -
Some will tell you that and blame the bitch I'm not sure how those that have them explain it when they've been the one's to cut to cord or the pups have been born via c-section.

Thanks for the link, the breeder explained it like was written where it says to turn the puppy over and massage the "hernia" to move any gut back into the stomach. Either way she said if we are still worried we can get a second opinion at the vet she goes to (who specialises in German shepherd dogs) I've had a couple of delayed closures over the years but certainly not an entire litter of them. maybe the GSD folk on here can shed some light if it's entire litters being affected are common place and acceptable in the breed ?
-
It's not true that all puppies have hernias, infact it should be a rarity in well bred dogs. not common place. If your puppy has a true hernia, it should be fixed ASAP, if the puppy has a delayed closure, then probably go away in it's own time. If your puppy has a true hernia, your breeder should be paying for any operation required to fix it. You should have been told about the issue prior to purchase. I would not sell any of my SBT's to someone that was going to keep the dog outdoors only. There are plenty of loving homes available that can have the dog indoors and many breeders won't settle for second best for the pups they breed.
-
Until they are busted for having the dog inside and if the landlord isn't happy about being lied to, they may cease to rent to someone with a pet. No harm done, except the loss of another pet friendly rental

No thanks, I enjoy my Bull Breeds and the inherent risk that comes with them
