Why put her down? I never got the impression the dog was so timid it was suffering. There are plenty of timid dogs around that lead happy healthy lives. She may be timid because she was abandoned, is pregnant, and is in a new home with strangers. I disagree that this dog should be put down. As stated peviously, this dog does not belong to the OP so it would be against the law to PTS anyways. Danielle, no matter what we say it is all going to prove futile. To say that I am DISGUSTED with your comment Danois, is an understatement! What hide to suggest that the dog be put down! Obviously the dog is not that timid given that the OP was considering keep it BEFORE finding out that it was inbred, seems to me that that is the only reason that the OP has changed his mind. Danois...would you have suggested that the dog be destroyed if it were a purebred? I BET NOT !!! If the old owners have been spoken to and have handed the bitch over to the op, then the choices are ( if the OP cannot afford the vet care and costs that go along with a litter or the desexing ) send the bitch to a pound, look for a private rescue willing to take her on or PTS. There are worse fates in life for a dog than being PTS

Judge's Behaviour On Video?
WreckitWhippet replied to Brennan's Mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
As part of their training all of my youngsters regardless off their breed , learn to stand on the table. I find the method of picking up the pup and rocking it very usefull, the same with putting the pup very close to the back of the table and allowing the back legs to drop if the pup backs up. It's not done in the way that she demonstrated, it's a tiny part of the training and I aim to to make the table a "nice place" to be. I was disgusted with the judges actions and there is no way on this earth I'd allow a judge to do what she did, to any of my dogs. If the dogs behaviour was so bad that she couldn;t examine the animal ( which I couldn't see the dog misbehaving in such a way ), the exhibit should have been excused from the ring. If I was next in line to be judged, I would have withdrawn my exbibit, rather than have someone like her potentially ruin my dog. -
I'm considering it but as a country candidate, the costs to travel are high. I'd have to give up exhibiting for the duration , which I can't quite bring myself to do yet.
-
My feelings are, if you don't know the parents, cannot offer the people who are purchasing a health guarantee, then you shouldn't be bringing them into this world. If it's good enough for the registered breeders , then it's good enough for anyone else contemplating a litter of any breed or cross to do so.

If you have fullfilled the requirements for finding a dog , according to your states legislation. Then I would suggest that at the time she does become your property that you abort and spey. If not, hand her into the pound and do what is required .

How Fussy Is Your Oh Pertaining To Dogs Inside The House
WreckitWhippet replied to Moselle's topic in General Dog Discussion
:D :D ;) He does indeed. One of my breeders had a few husbands. One of them said - it's me or the dogs. She said to him the only thing she could think of Bye Bye. he's certainly mastered the skills -
Maybe list the issues that the WP's are looking to address.
-
Nope. I'm still using the same old C3

Mine waits for me to train the pups to stack and bait or have them going well as adults, then he rocks up to a show every six months of so, shows and wrecks a few dogs, for a few weekends in a row, then promptly returns to retirement. He must be getting ready to come back out, as he's been talking to Macy Wiggles about BIG's , for the last two weeks. Heaven help my poor Whippet. -
C3 at 8 plus and 12 plus weeks. My vet is signing off on those and the next vacc date being around the 15 months.
-
Some will tell you that and blame the bitch I'm not sure how those that have them explain it when they've been the one's to cut to cord or the pups have been born via c-section. I knew one where the father had a huge one (i mentioned in my other post about the size of a walnut with shell) and all the pups that he sired had them too. one pup had a big one like the dad. yep but plenty will blame it on the bitch.
-
Naturally you'd find a new vet and not bother to tell them you are a registered breeder or simply lie about it on your application to register a litter. ETA: It will do nothing to improve canine health and welfare. Every litter registered would be free whelped right ? what a joke I wonder how much the vets will stand to make out of such a proposal ? Call my cynical but they'll still deliver pups via c-section. They stand to make a packet out of certifiying how every litter that is going to be KC registered was delivered. Someone could do the maths , but I bet it adds up to a huge amount of additional revenue

Can They Be Friends Living In The Same Home?
WreckitWhippet replied to Kashing's topic in General Dog Discussion
Everyone in the house needs to be on the same page, regarding the routine and discipline of each puppy. Without it, you will be dealing very quickly with a GSD puppy that is capable of retaliating or simply injuring the Malt during play. You will need somewhere to seperate both puppies, when there isn't anyone around to supervise. -
Dogs can scream for attention or out of excitement

Black Hawk Holistic Dog Food
WreckitWhippet replied to pinky11's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
May I ask why it was getting hard (now impossible) to get the Royal Canin breeders bags? We have quite a few breeders who we order for and apart from the occasion out of stocks that all petfood companies seem to experience, there are few issues. Sags I haven't had any issue getting it . -

To this theme? You know, impossible and all (I thought Brett baby would have made it to the bed for sure) Mission Impossible Bubby Brett gets let up there every now and then but always leaves me regretting it. He lays on my head, steals my pillow, licks me in the mouth and generally is a pain in the rear end unti I yell out " COME AND GET THIS BLOODY DOG " ;) He's alright for a lounge cuddle or one when your sitting in your chair at shows. He spends his days at shows, seeing if he can find a chair with someone in it, that's willing to let him get up and put his paws around their neck -

Last nights bed lottery winner was ... Sessy Whippet -
A basic consult , anywhere from $40-$120 depending on where you go. After that, who knows, it depends what the issue is , how it's diagnosed and what treatment if any will be used.

Go back to the picture you posted in the why can't you show blue's thread. There's reason enough there to glue them, they certainly aren't tidy little rose ears sitting nicely.
-
The can be glued or taped. This is for an Amstaff and they are a little over excited with the amount of glue they use but it will work. http://amstaffs.net/eargluing.htm Taping can be more difficult and harder to get the desired result, depending on the ear leather and the strnght of the cartlidge. If you cock up gluing or taping then you basically ruin the ear set anyway. Its best to get someone who knows what they are doing to show you how to do it properly. Thick leather and large unruly or drop ears is common in blue

I guess he wouldn't appreciate my Whippet that flies past your head like the Concord , over the kitchen table, where you are seated. Clears the back of the lounge, sticks the landing and looks at you as if to say " WHAT?" -

OMG....that sounds great if you are of the same opinion but if my OH allowed wet & all dogs in the house I would be having a fit. what's another three sets of wet paw prints and wet dogs in the house. It's rained non stop for a week. It's just dirt and water and it will wash off. We've tiled our entire house from top to bottom and we simply chuck the lounges out and buy new one's every couple of years. I don't mind mopping but I hate washing walls -
I've found Animalac and Wombaroo to be much better than Biolac and Divetalac, the later pups have basically refused to drink.
