Was it in NSW Gazette? If so, we completely missed it... Septembers from memory

I've been a die hard RC fan for a while but have swapped with no issues. The distribution network for BH needs to improve, especially for country NSW. The only way we can get it, is to meet up with the distributor at shows, it's prohibitive to freight it around the countryside, as that costs as much as a bag does per bag.

They are best off contacting Frenchie breeders and letting them know they are looking for an older dog or bitch , for a pet. Tell the breeders a bit about themselves, how they care for the dogs, their yard, home etc and they might get lucky

Quite sobering isn't it, because it really does happen that way

Here We Go Mandatory Desexing For All Pet Puppies.
WreckitWhippet replied to Steve's topic in In The News
That's what I was thinking Jo. They've got the money, the annual reports show that. But i guess the way you get bigger and richer is not to spend any of it, while at the same time crying poor and sucking the $$$ out of Jo Gullible at every opportunity. -
Rare Or Disqualifed Colours In Breeds.
WreckitWhippet replied to poodlefan's topic in General Dog Discussion
The nose is definitely depigmented. The angle of the photo keeps the light from illuminating his most distingusihing feature. The colour (lack of colour) is clearer here. well perhaps you should have posted a pic than clearly demonstrated the fault in the first place -

Victimisation by Council??? Maybe the big players in the puppy farm world are not happy with recent protests. I am sure you will agree BIG $$ (or even little business) such as council go hand in hand. What do the puppy farmers have to fear ? they are the one's with the big council approved sheds, approved for large numbers and paying councils the $$ to operate. Conspiracy theory anyone ? You got the bit about paying $$$$ to council to operate right. What about the times council have approved inappropriate places that were horror puppy farms? and this has what to do with PH being shut down ? It's a bit of a long stretch of the imagination, to think that the puppy farmers ( who are council approved and operating with councils blessing) would be worried about a few animal rights activists, running around with banners. -

what's "rare or disqualifying" about the colour ? Disqualifying Faults: Nose: Completely depigmented. I don't get it. From that photo, it just looks like the pigment is not black or it's just a bad photo in bad light. -

The Memorial Shows for both Bob & Elka were advertised in the schedules. Perhaps the GSD exhibitors who entered, were unable to get to the show because of the flooding in NSW. We had an 8 hour journey on the way down, because of road closures.

Looking For Some Advise On Right Type Of Dog
WreckitWhippet replied to adogisforlife's topic in General Dog Discussion
Greytmate, I didn't find a lot of difference between the Grey's and the Whippets, when it comes to the amount of time they will spend playing with the kids. -

I second that. They are also portable , as they fold up nice and small You can get them on the smaller side too ;) -

I also have Whippets and they make an excellent indoor and outdoor companion. Mine are also great with the kids, they adore kids and are playfull enough, without being over the top. They also have an off button and are just as happy to curl up on the lounge with the kids and watch a movie. You would still need a very secure Pig pen -

WreckitWhippet replied to adogisforlife's topic in General Dog Discussion
The Pigs would have to either be housed in a seperate yard or Fort Knox, if you are planning on having an SBT. There'd be very few SBT's who wouldn't wait for the opportunity to break in and kill the Guinnea Pigs. That aside, an SBT would fit into a family who is dedicated to their dog and wants to spend lots of time with it. You need a fence that WILL keep a dog in, if you want to own an SBT. They test and try everything, mostly with their heads. If left alone, they can and will look for a way out, to find themselves something to do and someone to do it with. -
It was a lovely show, great atmosphere and an enjoyable weekend. Congrats on your award

Purina's "information" On Feeding Bones To Dogs
WreckitWhippet replied to Whippetsmum's topic in General Dog Discussion
As I said - depends so much on the breed. I would guess from your signature line that none of your dogs have the physical jaw strength to exert enough pressure on a bone to shatter either the bone or the teeth - and oops if it's the teeth. IMO dogs were not designed to crunch the weight bearing bones of large herbivores - that's hyenas you're thinking of I won't feed any of the large bones to mine either. My old boy fractured a tooth on one of those. Prior to that his teeth had been brilliant. That was the start of the downhill run , when it came to his teeth. I had to have it removed and then his mouth shifted, the tartar built up and he had to have dentals after that. -
Given the ancestory, there is every chance that the dog will be more dog aggressive. It goes with the territory and whilst many of them ( PB's & SBT's ) are a "gentleman unless set upon" there are plenty that aren't and very few who will not finish what someone else started. If the dog is 3/4 PB, then it should be registered as a PB cross. Tell him to take the puppy back to it's breeder and get a refund. Either buy himself a pedigree Amstaff or SBT with papers or adopt a puppy/adult from a reputable rescue , to ensure that his new best friend is not in any danger of being delcared a 'restricted" breed.

Purina's "information" On Feeding Bones To Dogs
WreckitWhippet replied to Whippetsmum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yep it could happen but the health benefits of feeding raw on the bone, far out weighs the potential risks. The worst that's happened to us in years of feeding raw is a splinter of bone that went into one of my dogs gums. She couldn't close her mouth after breakfast and we realsied within minutes there was a problem , located and removed it. Weight baring bones are a no no in this house, but the softer consumable bone , with meat on it, gets the green light -
I fear not so much for my dogs when out walking, but certainly for any off leash aggressor that wants to take on three mature SBT's. If I'm by myself , I will attempt to sink the boot in before any other dog gets near mine. Failing that, once a fight has started, I'm dropping my leashes and mine can choose to run away or fight, while I find something suitable to dispose of the aggressor with.

Whats the difference? They didnt breed the animal, they didnt raise it so there is still no guarentee. Sorry to sound down in the dumps about it but I have greater plans for my dogs then just pets so hence avoiding rescues. I know how I want my dogs to be raised from day one if you get my idea I think that even if a pup/dog is destined to be a "pet" , that the new owners really should be looking carefully at where and how they were raised.
