  1. That's a lot of money raised from a very simple idea.
  2. I don't think CAR allows for "mixed breed" or " cross breed unknown" to be listed on the chip details. A simple change to that, along with additional room to include further details in the discription would solve that problem. If the breed assessor thinks that the suspected dog is of a restricted breed and has a good temperament, then they can simply mark the dog down as a RB cross and the owner can then have it temp tested.
  3. On a good night for the pink , the foundation is recieving thousands... GO THE PINK DOG ETA: ohhh the irony... how many dogs does the LDH kill each year
  4. My advice is for the OP to call her vet and pay for the advice
  5. Same . I have dogs with privileges and then there are dogs like Brett who has the pleasure of walking right next to me
  6. I've found the limit to be around 12, providing there aren't any naughty one's amongst them.
  7. 4 because that is all you can legally have under your control according to the CAA
  8. I just walk around the back yard with nail clippers in hand and tell the dogs to stand there while I do it. handle them young, firmly and often and you can do anything with a dog.
  9. wowsers! how can i do that before he is fully vaccinated?? You don't need to meet and greet every dog and puppy on the planet. Just a few select dogs and pups and especially well mannered, calm adults. Avoid those dogs that are over the top, reactive or dominant. One thing to remember about SBT's , is that they generally grow less tolerant of other dogs as they mature ( even if they have met thousands of dogs as puppies ) and they will be more inclined to finsish what another dog starts. It only takes one bad experience as a puppy or adult for your SBT to become reactive to other dogs, so keep the meets and greets controlled and limited. I cannot stress enough how important a recall is, focus now on being able to call your pup away from other dogs and puppies.
  10. I don't bring my Staffords up in a social free for all. They socialise with known adults and the odd pup. You are better off with an SBT that chooses to largely ignore other dogs and one with a recall. Puppy pre-school is ok for them but they need to go very early on at 8 weeks, as they are generally the class clown, the class bully and the rough one's. I'd focus more on the obedience , than running around trying to meet a whole lot of other pups.
  11. Me too :D and I thought that everyone would own a poopa-scoopa or similar.
  12. Why do you think a Frenchie or a Boston should cost so much more than other breeds ? Personally, I fail to see why anyone would want either breed, let alone pay those sorts of prices. Of all the breeds I have observed at shows over many years, these are the two I most detest on temperament, snapping and barking at every passing dog, let alone the fact they are so incredibly ugly. Then add in possible health issues with brachy breeds and I really have no idea what the attraction is. Sorry to the people who own and love them but I just can't stand them. Because they are bloody awesome dogs. When I purchased my first one they were still quite rare. If I were to buy one today, the quality I would be looking for, would still make them quite rare. There's more people breeding them, but you still have to wait for a quality puppy and for that quality puppy I'd not hesitate to spend the money be it two thousand or five thousand. I've owned three. I've not had one with a nasty temperament. No snapping and certainly no barking. One had two passes at CD level and was a incredibly hard work to get there but heaps of fun. Each to their own really, I have no idea why anyone would want to own a Rotti or a Cav for example but plenty of people do.
  13. Breeders can charge what they like for a pup, some buyers will be getting ripped off and will pay big dollars for poor quality pups. Having said that, i would not hestitate to hand over a couple of thousand dollars or more for a Frenchie or a Boston, if I should ever want one again. I'd also pay whatever for certain lines or a quality pup of a desired type. Now that I'm no longer showing and breeding, when I purchase our next family pet, I have a colour and type in mind ( I also want the quality ) and will pay whatever the going rate is for what I want. If the quality and style is there, I'm not going to argue about the price tag.
  14. Exactly.I am sure the woman knows exactly what type of dog it was and if it was of good temperament, happy and loved and contained in its backyard what is the harm.I would be more concerned about problem dogs with problem owners that wont contain them regardless of the breed. I am with you if all she can do is stab this person in the back and create some scremongering I wouldnt have much faith in her and I guess its alright if someone elses loving pet is taken away and PTS as long as they doesnt affect her puppy sales.JEEEEZ Kim Reeders response would have nothing to do with puppy sales. I'm just surprised that she wasn't more concise when it came to the email and what she'd like people to do. Simply contacting a local member and saying that you don;t agree with breed ID's is not enough.
  15. I do.. I took a Greyhound and Whippet to work today. Mine take turns and most days someone comes with me.
  16. Between $22 and $42 depending on if it's a litter or more than one adult.
  17. nahh just win a lot and it's all water off a ducks back and thoroughly enjoyable
  18. perhaps the breed assessors like dogs, especially dogs with nice temperaments and they are assessed and passed as either a RB cross ( which allows for temp testing ) or another breed or cross. There's nothing new in this and it has been the "out" for many a nice dog over the years. I would have thought that Kim Reeder would have been capable of putting together a better response and call to action, then what she's come up with. What would the SBT club of NSW prefer to happen ? what would they consider a suitable method of breed ID and who should be a breed assesor ?
  19. Another vote for roo tails and whole lamb necks are also excellent.
