The best warning that you can give others is DON'T BUY BLUE.
-
manuka honey 20+ , a teaspoon three times a day Make sure your friend keeps their dog quarantined in their yard , for at least 10 days after the last cough.
-
Don't name anyone. Write a letter of complaint to the Canine Council ( egs Dogs NSW, Dogs Vic ) in the state where your pup was bred. Include as much information as you can, dates, contact made with breeder, vet report etc. You can also make it a consumer affairs issue if you want to. Sorry to say that you purchased a blue, the warning signs were there, yet you still went ahead. I do feel for you and you are not the first to be ripped off, when it comes to blue.

Well yes and no. when i was 10 years old my parents would not get my dog desexed;i did keep asking them to.She had puppies to a kelpie x labrador. She was a cavalier x something.3 of her pups were small ;but one was much bigger.I remember feeling really sorry for her giving birth to such a big pup.;even at that young age i felt it was wrong to put her through that. These people are adults and should know better. The big pup went to the people that gave me the mother dog. she grew the size of a labrador;much to everyones surprise. one small pup went to a neighbour and he grew to be smaller than his mother. You will often get a large puppy in a litter, be it purebred or a cross, the same goes for small ones. Bitches that carry larger litters tend to have smaller pups, closer in size. A small bitch is not going to carry an entire litter the size of Rottwieler pups. Pups are born from weird crosses every day, it doesn't make it right but bitches can whelp them just fine. 4 pups is not a big litter.

what have they done now ?

A belly full of pups generally means that the pups are smaller.

"face Judging" In The Show Ring
WreckitWhippet replied to poodlefan's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've been on the receiving end of a BIG and classes in group for everything I've entered a couple of times and the same goes for the CC's and Res CC's ( with competition ). The comments from judges has been that they liked the type and the dogs were all very nice. I've also sat and watched and have seen the same thing happen with other breeds and can honeslty say, that they have been lovely dogs and were very similar in type. You win some and lose some when it comes to the general specials judge. They may well think that what they have put up, is stronger that what has been put through by the other judges. I've also seen a mystery judge pick from a couple of groups for the in shows. -
Call the VCA. I would have thought that if you decided to show in NSW, you would be subject to their rules not VIC. Stupid bloody rule it is anyway. If pups can leave home at 8 weeks, then at the very least you should be able to show from that date.

Just When I Thought I'd Seen It All....
WreckitWhippet replied to megan_'s topic in General Dog Discussion
They obviously don't and they are not the only one's. Many owners assume their dogs don't wander , chase people, cars other dogs etc. They see them laying around out the front or in the yard and think that's how the dog spends its time -
I'll have a chuckle now We bait the ceiling when we have them, never had a smelly dead mouse up there but the mice are nowhere to be seen. We've not had any for at least two years now. I'm sure they'll move back in this year, given the numbers about

There appears to be a shortage on lots of the baits, traps and glue boards. Mice are everywhere and the places are selling out quicker than they can get stock in.

Family Sues Council Over Fatal Dog Mauling Of Child
WreckitWhippet replied to samoyedman's topic in In The News
The dogs weren't roaming at that time. The child entered the yard and was killed. If they want to "blame" anyone, it's rests with whoever was supposed to be caring for the poor child. -
Speak to the breeder and see a specialist.
-
" No kill " is perhaps the biggest con or lie going.
-
Nor would I. You never know how someone is going to react. It doesn't matter if it's an on or off leash area.

"face Judging" In The Show Ring
WreckitWhippet replied to poodlefan's topic in General Dog Discussion
You can be a "nobody" with a dog that performs well on a regular basis and still get accused of knowing the judge and the judge being facey. If the " nobody'" dog wins with someone else on the end of the lead, then of course it's " the judge doesn't know what they are doing " They can't win... -
Does sound like sour grapes now If you think a judge is "facey" or there's corruption going on, or the hard working club members are being rewarded with wins, then don't bother to enter the show and go where you think you'll get a fair chance. I can assure you, that there wasn't much in it for the club officials or workers at the four shows this weekend. They worked bloody hard and put on a fine show and if they managed time to show their dogs, it was the usual wins and losses for them.

What Do You Do When You Can't Agree?
WreckitWhippet replied to Kirty's topic in General Dog Discussion
I just bring home what I want, when I want. Problem solved -
It's a no for me too. I wouldn't want to waste my time, effort and money on some judges and there's a few that I wouldn't attended even if someone paid my entries and petrol. With the cost of entries, fuel and accommodation, I'll pick and choose those that I think I will do best under. I'll give new judges a go and I'll usually enter my home shows regardless, but that's to support the local clubs. ETA: I don't mind the mystery Generals judge. I think that's a nice idea.

What Do You Do In The Dog World?
WreckitWhippet replied to Leelaa17's topic in General Dog Discussion
Breeder/exhibitor, have done obedience in the past. Groomer and also work for a petfood warehouse. Worked a vet nurse as well. Foster care sometimes. Also race my Greyhounds. -
Another idea for controlled socialisation, is to head off for a walk with a known dog ( known to you but no your dog ) that is indifferent, as PF has talked about above. I've used her dogs as well, for my boy who needed some time with dogs that didn't want to play and didn't really give a crap. We went for a nice relaxed walk on loose leads, seperate at first and then closer together to allow them to sniff and check each other out on the move. It doesn't have to be a walk for hours, we took the opportunity at a show and it was 5 minutes for a toilet and crate break. My Whippet is ideal for introducing pups and dogs with confidence issues too. She's the queen of I don't give a toss. Sadly my old SBT has gone, he was a wonderful, tolerant dog.

Last one I know of here was a BTM that was around $600-700
-
I think they must mean council rego charges are double that of a neutered/spayed pet. But, it does cost more depending on the weight. It's a small price to pay ( vet and rego ) in order to let your dog grow and mature.
-
Yes vets will charge more for a heavier dog but it's not going to double your costs. The difference for my vet is between $20 and $50. What was your vet going to charge you at 5-6 months ?
