  1. Sherel says one thing and the manufacturer says another.
  2. I use drontal or paratak and nothing for fleas.
  3. I have two front loaders. All of my dog blankets dry in the clothes dryer. That gets the hair out of them and the Greyhounds like their blankets warmed before bed.
  4. Performance is higher in fat and protein, pretty much the same as Advance active. Both are Australian made and you shouldn't have any supply issues with them.
  5. All three ( take the e off Royal Canin , I was having a blonde moment ) should be availble from your local pet supplies or you can buy them online. Depending on which formula you buy and which of the three brands, you would be looking at somewhere between $102 and $130 a dog. For an active dog you could look at Advance Active which is about $110 a 15kg bag or the breeder bags of Proplan, are the Proplan Performance formula and they are around $130. RC basic formulas are based around the weight of the adult and puppy If you are still feeding a puppy food, Advance do a base and a large breed puppy growth. RC make a Junior formula and Proplan make puppy in chicken or lamb base
  6. Change her to a premium dog food such as Royal Canine, Advance or Proplan and see how she goes.
  7. Nope, I can guarantee our local booked judges based on who could travel as an interstate couple first and who was available and likely to pull the biggest entry.
  8. Because DOL has become the place to breeder bash, that's why
  9. A dog can develop heart disease from taurine deficincy Has the dog been checked by a specilaist ? I'd not be refunding anything until that had been done.
  10. What's not true ? We had a bitch that was bred by another breeder and raised by them. Was vaccinated as a baby, vet checked, vacc'd as an adult, checked again and then came to us. Her heart murmer was not present at any of the previous examinations and only became apparent when she was vet checked, prior to xray for hip scores. It can and does happen.
  11. Yep, providing the child has a kind hand. My five year old daughter can pretty much get our bitch to do whatever she wants. She will follow basic commands from my daughter and is easily controlled on lead by her.
  12. You'll be fine tonight and tomorrow. There could be patches of ice on the Bells Lines or through the mountains towards Lithgow, in the morning The snow has been and gone.
  13. All dogs used in scientific studies are killed, that's the law. Testing in animals is for insurance purposes, nothing else. Stitching kittens eyes shut has not led to any ocular cures. Thalidomide was tested in animals and if penicillin had been tested in guinea pigs it never would have made it out of the lab. Drugs have different effects in animals, are excreted differenly and metabolised differently. As for eating animals, yes I do care how they are treated before being killed and we should work to ensure they don't suffer beforehand. We are carnivores in the end. Can you show me that please ?
  14. Limit register also, if you are not in a position to mentor and guide a new exhibitor or potential breeder
  15. Pets belong on the limit register.
  16. If you want to name breeders, then send Troy a message and see what he says.
  17. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/214397-is-a-blue-stafford-breeder-unethical/page__p__5122668__hl__%2Bblue+%2Bstaffys__fromsearch__1#entry5122668 some things potential buyers can look for. See ads with the following, run a mile bred specifically for family pets the entire litter is on the main register blue to blue mating claim the pup is a pied when it's simply a black brindle with a white chest and possibly socks the non blue pups in a litter are heavily discounted (meaning they are sold closer to the going rate for an SBT pup) "carry the blue genes" "carry the blue pied gene" parents are in excess of 20kgs some 25kg's or more and it's promoted as a good thing "english staffy" blue makes a perfect show dog none of the pups are line bred and that's promoted as a plus when you can clearly see patches of hair missing in puppy pics (or any pics) when they can't spell "conformation" generations of blue big bitch with a massive head blue has a black nose when all they can talk about from a potential litter is the perfect colour they might produce when the majority of what they say about their adult dogs, consists of it's coat colour and "personality" "has an excellent pedigree" with not a CH, CD, ET or any other title to be seen big chunky bitch with a head like a boy
  18. The only SBT's that deserve any promotion and should be recommended are those that come from ethical registered breeders. The breeders who strive for type temperament, structure and soundness and colour is not their number one priority. I'll go and dig up the list of warning signs for buyers.
  19. I'd pick Stewart St for you emergency care and if you are willing to take a 25 minute drive Blayney for the general and large animal. Orange have a great surgery out on the Forbes rd, for the horses. They have stables and can offer care that others can't. Plenty of Bathurst horsey folk drive to Orange and use them.
  20. There have been countless topics on blues on this forum. If a buyer wants a quality pup/dog, that is true to type, has a great temperament, is sound and healthy, then it's very unlikey they are going to find one that's blue. Buyer beware..
  21. No it does not apply to Gundogs, used to flush etc, nor does it apply to dogs that dispose of rats, rabbits and the like. (2) A dog is not, for the purposes of subsection (1) (d), to be regarded as being kept or used for the purposes of hunting if it is used only to locate, flush, point or retrieve birds or vermin. "Vermin" for the purposes of this subsection includes small pest animals only (such as rodents). ETA: It's part of the Companion Animals ACT 1998, not a council bylaw.
  22. Why apologise on behalf of those who supposedly made " snippity" comments ? Perhaps they, like me, are sick of breeders getting the blame for everything that goes wrong with someone's dog. If a breeder tests their breeding stock, selects the best and breeds with the aim of producing happy, healthy animals, then that is all they can do. If you purchase a living animal, you buy the good, the bad and the ugly. That animal then becomes your responsibilty.
