  1. This is what I did with my pug too, but it's easier with a smaller dog. I don't know how big GSP's are at that age and if they are easy to carry, but if you can take them out and about without them being on the ground it's still a good experience for them.
  2. OMG she broke her front legs Poor puppy! It will be interesting to see down the line if, after 12 months, they now exclude covering anything to do with those front legs and class them as a pre-existing condition.
  3. Poor little guy! Definetly tell his breeder, that should have been one of the first things you did. Or at least called her for some advice in case she's had any experience with it before. I don't have any experience but I'm sure some here will have some advice or help to offer you. He's a little cutie!
  4. I'm working from home today ... although neither of my dogs would know it as they are both asleep (and it's not even 8am yet!). Tell me how being home is benefitting them?
  5. How do they go for lifetime cover of an illness?
  6. I have both my pugs on Pet Plan with a $100 excess so it's cheaper and mainly for larger things not day to day things. There are basically two sets of insurance - pet plan and everyone else, as pet plan is the only one with a different underwriter. I chose pet plan for my brachy breeds because they cover an illness for more than 12 months, whereas the others seem to say after that it's pre-existing and they don't cover it anymore. But you have to do your own research and decide what's right for you and what you need/want out of it.
  7. What do puppies do for most of the day? They sleep  If I was home, my puppy slept. If I was at work, my puppy slept. When I wasn't home she learnt to spend time on her own during the short periods she was awake so now she isn't a co-dependant 14 month old. [edited to add: ok, she's as co-dependant as a pug is meant to be ] If you spend every waking moment with a puppy, how does it learn to be alone? What happens when you do then want to go out and do some shopping or go for lunch and it has a meltdown because it doesn't know how to be alone? And just because someone works doesn't mean they are out of the house for 12 a day.
  8. That's interesting, nope I haven't actually tried Advocate on him. Have tried Advantix and most recently, Frontline, both of those get seem to work on Rusty, but don't seem to help with the patches. I thought advantix didn't seem to be lasting all that long one of my dogs, so I bought Frontline instead to try and it didn't work at all for her, yet it worked on Rusty. Trying Advocate is a good suggestion, thank you :) . Although if the skin scraping the vet did a while back confirmed he did not have mites, the advocate might not help. I hope you can convince your brother to take him to a vet though, he seems to need some professional care and tests. Poor little tyke!
  9. I'd probably also ditch the canned food and increase the raw food He's getting to every night.
  10. I raised a puppy whilst working full time and she had no problems toilet training, but she was trained to use pee pads as well as outside. I don't believe it's an ideal situation, but she turned out fine! She was a naturally early riser so we'd play for a while and as she was getting ready for a nap, I'd leave for work (I altered my hours when I found out she was an early riser, no point hanging around in the morning if she had gone back to sleep!). When she woke up there was a Kong or bone waiting for her, she'd wrestle with that for a while then fall back asleep. Rinse, repeat, then I'd be home and we'd play or go out or do some training until bedtime. It was intense, but it's do-able if you're committed.
  11. You want another dog while you wait the three months for your pup? Why don't you just focus on getting ready for your pup?
  12. Skin pinch test, like with humans, to test dehydration. And watch how often/how much he is peeing (which won't be much if he isn't taking anything in). If it's hot he will be getting dehydrated pretty quickly. But then again, my dog was puking and pooping for 24 hours and not drinking, and she wasn't dehydrated, so sometimes they don't dehydrate as quickly as you think they do.
  13. Sometimes when my dogs aren't drinking I'll make a weak chicken stock mix to entice them. Or if it gets bad, I'll syringe a hydralyte type of mix into thm if they are getting dehydrated, but if he's getting too dehydrated, take him to a vet so they can get him on a drip.
  14. Guess they don't like people asking questions... the question about them owning lucky and being able to legally rehome her has been deleted, so I'd take that as a no, they still don't legally own the dogs and don't what people to know if they are deleting such questions from their fb! Wonder what else they have to hide. deleting simple questions looks dodgy and suspicious. And blocked me from commenting on their fb... now That's the actions of a group with nothing to hide (not).
  15. that comment is from a family member I'd say, same surname Ah, explains even more.
  16. Some charmer commented on the photos of Lucky on their fb "don't let the nutjobs from the Forum see these or they will find fault with them" with friends like that, it kinda explains a lot.
  17. Do you use a topical flea treatment (ie: advantix or advantage?). that can leave a greasy or oily residue on the coat. And water doesn't wash off oil, which is why you still feel it after washing your hands.
  18. Could also be from feeding canned food
  19. And they will blame someone else, as they never take responsibility for anything!
  20. The dog isn't in your care? It's owned by someone else, and currently in a different persons house. You have no ties to the dog legally.
  21. When Mum throws the ball and expects you to go fetch it. She threw it, if she wants it she can go and get it! *Puglogic*
  22. and who ever clicks on the cover photo? Not this moron. Good try though. Th point is you stated it was edited to take the artists name out, another said it was theft. If you are going to make accusations then be smart enough to make sure you are saying the right thing or you end up looking pretty stupid. Took you a few hours to come up with the answer though. Told you it would be someone else's fault. I'm psychic now!
  23. Pet plan are slow, but they pay claims without a hassle. I'd prefer to wait for my refund than have to fight for what I'm entitled to.
  24. Dogs poop out what they put in, a lot of poo isn't unhealthy. It might just mean there is a it of useless stuff in the food she's not absorbing so her body is getting rid of it. Maybe a better quality or different food if you're worried, but personally I'd not change food if everything is fine except for poo quantity.
