  1. Did you actually read what was posted? No one was attacking people for rescuing, they were commenting on the tactics used by AR groups to guilt people into buying pound dogs. And those who say they would never have a rescue dog, That's a fact, not an attack.
  2. Wasn't he a surrender? I thought his most recent owners were known but, to date, his breeder hasn't been found. She was just being a troll with her comments.
  3. Have you tried flaxseed powder instead? Also, I mix my meats so it's not one meat per day, but all mixed in each meal so they can't build up a 'favourite' food. Ie: beef and chicken and sometimes turkey mince all together with the sardines and egg and organ meats etc.
  4. If you chop it all up (sardines and egg) and mix it with the mince, then divide it into portions she might not notice it ... or if she does ... well she can eat it or starve (in my house, anyway lol)
  5. I need the Kong Wubba Friends to come back on free shipping, Max the destroyer pug has finally killed hers I've given OH a mission to saw it back up, but I'm not sure how long that will last, and as much as she loves it I don't think I can justify paying over $20 for one here when they are $8 on CR, given she's not lacking in the toy department lol Poor manky wubba's had a hard life lol
  6. Strangely, quite a few novice dog owners manage to pull it off. I was one of them. Me too and it was well before the days of the internet and I wanted a French Bulldog of all breeds. I was one of them too, after a female black pug, and quite specific what I wanted which probably turned some people off. But I finally found a lovely breeder who not only responded to me even though she didn't have any pups planned for a while, but helped me find a pup from another breeder who met her high standards. I then got pup #2 from her as we became friends, and she only had this one pup going to a pet home and probably had a pretty big waiting list. I do remember in the first email being asked a lot of questions that I thought were very reasonable for a breeder to ask but maybe someone who "just wants a dog" might find intrusive, I can probably find the email if you're after specifics!
  7. Or No sleep as I get more nervous lol Rest up now, you might not get any sleep for a while after he arrives  Will try harder tonight to sleep lol .............. he is going to be the best puppy in the world and sleep all night wiithout a peep He is flying to you? If he is coming a long way, he might be so exhausted that he just crashes and sleeps the whole way through, especially if he's on your bed! Good luck for the second night though
  8. Or No sleep as I get more nervous lol Rest up now, you might not get any sleep for a while after he arrives
  9. I don't know what show stopper powder is ... but I also don't see anything wrong with the diet you've just listed here? Unless her condition is suffering, of course. But why does she need kibble or VAN or anything? That's pretty much what I feed my guys, I mix up their stuff and freeze about a months worth. They get flaxseed powder added in, and cranberry powder because my girl is prone to UTI's and it's easier to add to the mix than add it each day to her food, but apart from that it's a variety of mince, bit of carrot and zucchini and apple put through the juicer, some organ meat and eggs (shells and all). thats brekky with yoghurt, and they get a chicken frame for dinner. I don't mix any grains or added unneccesary bulk in, they eat enough leaves and sticks and toilet paper rolls
  10. Google, it's not rocket science. For the SBT and the Whippet google takes you straight to Dogzonline and also the breed clubs. The breed club sites are full of information about the breeds. Getting there and getting the information is the easy bit, it's finding a pup in many breeds where it becomes difficult, as to put it simply there are not enough pedigree pups being bred to meet the demand for them. I've got a litter at the moment that will not be advertised because there were people lining up for pups before she was even mated. But then you get the (all too common) I emailed breeders and they didn't respond so I was forced to go buy a pet shop puppy. Did they follow up the breeders, or make any other efforts? No, but in their mind they did all they could by sending one email therefor it's the breeders fault they had to go to the petshop and get a puppy.
  11. Why do you think that pedigree dogs are not pets? My pedigree dogs are my pets first and foremost. I like knowing what I am getting. My pedigree dogs are purely pets, they are not show dogs or breeding dogs or anything else but pets.
  12. Probably beacuse I was a bit shocked at the lack of response and was not sure what to do next. Maybe they didn't get it, Maybe they filed it away to reply later and forgot. Instead of taking it personally I'd be proactive and contact them again, or via a different method.
  13. If you didn't hear back, why wouldn't you follow up with another email or phone call?
  14. How are you approaching the breeders, what are you saying to them? Are you following up with another email or phone call?
  15. Yep, clients of mine brought their new black Pug pup over the other day. She is very leggy and longer nose. She has pedigree papers. The nosey / leggy ones in the park are always black... must be a few breeding them.
  16. I use http://www.budgetpetproducts.com.au all the time for flea and worming stuff, they are cheap and fast. Never had any issues.
  17. We have a "Jug" at our park :p Jack x Pug. Apparently breeder is trying to lengthen the nose so they won't have breathing issues according to owners. At least they are not under the false impression the dog a pure pug lol Yeh pug crosses are common, I'm disturbed by the amount of pugs with noses where the owners think they are pure!
  18. I just met a pug at the dog park who's owner claimed she was pedigree - except she screamed of a multi generation cross time me as she was skinny with long legs and had a bit of a nose. Obviously the owners word on her pedigree can't be taken at face value, but what if she was? It is possible to get a pedigree pug with a nose? Ignoring the breed standard obviously because she failed on that count miserably. Genuine question. I'm a pug person, I have two from awesome breeders and am fully aware of the limitations of the brachy breeds, but don't think popping out crosses and calling them pedigree is the answer (nor do I claim to have an answer, before someone jumps on me  )
  19. Max, my pug, is a master at manipulating my OH. I don't fall for it, but she does all the time. When we are out, Max will intentionally and randomly run a little away so you call her back and treat her. When she was little she trained my OH to feed her every few steps when walking on lead, that was hilarious. Boston will sit if you have something he wants, and if he doesn't get it he stands up and sits again straight away, just so you know He's being good and sitting
  20. Ah, tell them its an "English staffy" and you'll be allowed on, I've seen lots of them around lately
  21. My pup is now 14 months old and I'm still pulling out toys that I bought during the wait for her to come home
  22. Her ears in some of those pics remind me of Frodosmum's Luka's ears
  23. Hmm, PAL might be easy to pass but he's not getting many nutrients from it. I have no experience with a prolapsed bowel, but I'd be more likely to be feeding fresh minces which are also easy to digest and pass but he can at least get some goodness from (if the vet is advocating a mush/wet something as opposed to a dry food).
