  1. would it be blasphemous to do a year of iphone snaps? I'm planning a year of instagram or phone shots lol Maybe I'll even get unlazy and dig out a real camera at some point, Maybe even my old old dlsr!
  2. I do that too, especially if they are black
  3. Clicking is a part of life. Websites are hardly ever going to have all the information you want on a single page, and you're going to have to click to see other information - it's why we were born with fingers!
  4. You mentioned the owner was maybe willing to permanatly rehome her dog ... have you talked to her about that possiblity instead? Maybe having a trial period while she's away for a while and seeing how it goes? How old is the owner? What if she decides to stay away longer and not come back? I'm wondering if it's not a little selfish of her to want someone to look after her dog for a few years and then expect them to hand it back upon her return :/
  5. Awww look at that cute face, and those big floopy ears
  6. I have hundreds of photos of my black puppies sleeping! It was the only time they would sit still
  7. Not just a pug thing, I get it heaps with my sibes. Usually the wallet opens and out come all the photos too! Hehe excellent! I atually like it, it's like one big family but I know some people who find it annoying.
  8. Because out vet isn't usually busy when we are there I often use it for training. Yesterday afternoon we were there and their christmas tree was still up, and had dropped pine things all over the floor and there was one loose decoration on the floor Boston was obsessed with getting to. So we used it as a "leave it" lesson. Other times it's a "sit" or "drop" or "stay" lesson in a distractable environment. I wouldn't do it if there were lots of people there, but I do it if there is one or two other dogs there, in an area away quite away from them. Probably would irritate the hell out of most people here
  9. If a dog comes up to me, being all wiggly and friendly and cute, I'll usually say hi. If it's a type of dog that doesn't interest me I'll usually always at least say hi to it and smile, but if it's a type of dog I like I will usually have a play or pat it. I don't normally go up to dogs and say hi though, but sometimes I did before I got my pugs and I was feeling a little empty handed without a leash  I like it when I'm out with my dogs and people come up to talk to me about them, or to talk to them. I do prefer they ask before touching them, but I don't say anything if they don't ask (however, I also normally don't give the dogs the command to not jump up and dirty someones clothes if they didn't ask! If they aren't polite, they can have non-polite puppies in return  ). I don't know if it's a pug thing, or happens a lot with people within their own breeds, but I often get people saying "I have a pug at home" or "I used to own a pug" or "I had pugs back when I lived in my home country" etc and I like it
  10. asal please don't ruin this thread with your irrelevant psychotic ramblings.
  11. I have a pug who is obsessed with tug, she loves the fetch part but moreso the game of wrestling/tugging it from her first. If you hide all her toys she will bring some random item she finds and nudge you on leg, which is her "I want to play" signal. Yesterday, it was this: I find distracting her is the only thing that works, either by re-directing her to play with our other dog, or giving her a kong or treat that takes a long time, but otherwise she doesn't have an off-switch.
  12. Hi Gertrude, Thanks for looking and your feedback. http://www.leemakennels.com/border'>http://www.leemakennels.com/border and http://leemakennels.com/border go to the same page (the 'new look'). I currently have http://leemakennels.com/borders (with an 's'!) as the 'one people are supposed to visit'. I'm planning to make them both go to the same place, soon, once I've put the finishing touchers on border (without an s). Hope that makes sense? It's a bucketload easier if you make your index the page people are meant to visit - ie: http://www.leemakennels.com/ edit: and for older browsers, http://leemakennels.com/borders isn't centered so it seems your coding might be a bit wonky? Good that /borders (with a s) is going bye-byes then! :D Leemakennels.com leads to an index for my blog, rescue, and breeder website. They're all equally important to me, and I couldn't single one out to be the first page people look at. I know what you mean, but for googling etc your index page should be the one you want people to find when they search for you. ie: if you search for leema, or leema border terriers, or leema kennels, it brings up your index page not your /borders (which you want it to do, and most people are smart enough to decide which link they want to follow from there - but I'd have each link open in a new tab or window, instead of navigating away completely). I think the "launch page" is under used these days, I remember the old days of web designing when almost everyone had an index page with a pretty picture and simply an "enter" button But I am old school, I still code my sites manually ;) note to self: make 2013 the year you enter the real world!
  13. There are hundreds of threads on this already, you might get some good info if you do a search :)
  14. My vet is pretty badly set up, the waiting chairs are opposite the counter (about 5 feet away, not really enough room for 2 people to stand if someone is sitting with theitr dog) with the scales on one side and the bags of food for sale on the other. I usually stand on the other side of the room with my dog(s), or walk them around because unless they are really sick, they actually get excited about being at the vet. Mostly when we go to the vet it's not for an "illness" so much as an "injury" so they don't like to sit still. I don't normally let them talk to other dogs, and if they go to say hi to a person I pull them back, but I do let people come and say hi to them. Although once Max was sitting very quietly and I thought she was just being good. Nope ... turns out someone before her had chewed a small hole in one of the food bags on pug level, so she was quietly helping herself to food
  15. Hmm PetPlan have been sneaky this year. Insurance costs haven't gone up on renewal - but their excess has, from $100 to $125.
  16. You don't need raw veggies, if the only issue is the dog is a little lean, sounds like it needs more fat, not veggies (which is bulk). If she doesn't eat whole carcasses, have you got a chicken shop that sells minced carcasses, or will mince the carcasses? I know my local one doesn't, but some do. Or add some chicken wings to her diet, they have a bit of fat on them?

  18. I was looking at a breeders website yesterday that proudly displayed her pedigree pugs - all the photos showed they had noses and she claimed she shows her dogs. I googled for a long time and couldn't find any mention of her winning anything (luckily!) but I actually doubt she even shows them in the first place. I'd be surprised if someone who bed pugs with noses would dare show their dogs, they'd be laughed out of the ring, surely? And that goes for other breeds with extreme "differences" from standard - do they really show them?
  19. On really hot days I make a point of taking my dogs to their water bowls and reminding them to drink regularly, because they often won't leave where they are if they are comfy and cool. Although we have water bowls in half the rooms of the house, so they don't need to go far.
  20. I'm not sure what you want from us, sounds like you wanted drama?
  21. In which case, someone else probably offered a better fit for that requirement and their concern is the pup, not your feelings.
  22. And could you provide that? On paper, could it look like someone else could provide that better?
  23. If they want a dog to watch them through the window they should consider a toy one. . You mean a toy as in plastic . . . . Not a toy breed, I hope, Greyhound? Definitely not. Where do people get the idea that 30 minutes is enough for dogs? My Myrtie is a 3.5kg toy breed mix and she would happily walk for a couple of hours a day. If I decide to take her out on her own, I am just about trotting to keep up with her. No I meant toy as in plastic!
