  1. Is that the little critter in your userpic?
  2. Chickpeas... Thanks minimax, I didn't know what they were either Suppose to be very good for humans chic peas I believe. They are a good source of protein, a very cheap one too edit: good for humans, yes. I've never really tried a dog on a chickpea diet, so would be interesting to see.
  3. 2/52 - Boston (looking a little happier this week!)
  4. We need video, that has to be the cutest thing ever!
  5. I'd be running a mile from a vet that mentioned titre testing and puppy in the same sentence. Sounds good in theory, but like they've only done half the research...
  6. There are heaps of threads on pet insurance, you'll get the best info from doing a search :)
  7. All of my dogs regardless of their name have many variations and nick names that I call them, some are even longer than their actual name  Another for door three. My dog has a simple 3 letter human name, and usually gets called some variation that is a lot longer, like bratface or squishieface or maxibutt
  8. I'll admit I skimmed them very briefly, mostly because I could see no connection beyond the name. I couldn't see a profile pic for either What, not this one? https://plus.google.com/100833015288656952184 Nope, wasn't seeing anything. When GM posted the picture, I had no idea what she was talking about or why she'd posted it Oh, well that picture on the AceDogClub G+ and twitter matches what her DOL userpic used to be, which is a stock photo. So, I guess if you wanted to still call it a coincidence you could, but it's all a bit weird. Plus a lot of the concent on the AceDogClub is american specific, like "Removing Skunk Smells", and half her "advice" just links to random internet webistes like WebMD and howstuffworks.com Well, that makes sense with her using the word "mom". Although why an Australian website would have an American writing for them, especially if the posts relate to things that don't apply here.. odd. The guy who runs AceDogSupplies seems to be a bit of a weirdo anyway, based on this http://www.dogtrainingmasters.net/

  11. Agree, Minimax, we all react differently. This has obviously upset Mantis and I think we need to understand that and treat her concerns with respect and care. Oh I do totally understand people react different, I just don't understand the exteme "my neighbour is an asshole so therefor my dog can't be walked anywhere in the world".
  12. I have to agree with this, but also think Pav Lova is being pretty insensitive. It is bad enough being followed around the streets being harassed by someone (as I was some years ago because I made his dogs bark by walking past his house!!!), but this man lives in the same unit block as Mantis. Knowing that someone like this man is close by is enough to stress someone out, let alone knowing that if he sees you, he will be horrible to you. I agree that Mantis should just go out and ignore him. HOWEVER, that is easy to say. Not so easily done. I don't understand how someone can't walk their dog at all just because someone in the apartment block in being a PITA. Walk past them and walk your dog somewhere else
  13. I have one water baby, she goes nuts! This is her with the hose the other night:
  14. I'm glad Oscar is staying with you, the stress on him going to the UK would probably be a bit much. When you're ready for another pug, I know a great breeder in Ballarat :D Oscar would probably love a brother or sister :D
  15. Occasionaly, I have fed them my chicken fillets (and I have eaten vegetarian for a week). I have some Nature's Gift at the moment and I'll use that until I try the Vets All Natural Rolls. My problem with the rolls is they contain kangaroo offal, and I don't like the idea of feeding my dogs offal (because it means having to give them more worming tablets). Though the Vets All Natural people say that kangaroo offal is okay because it isn't farmed. I'm vegetarian, but I live with omni's, so there is meat around. Nature's gift is the best of the canned food, but it's still canned food. But if you can't get the meat you want at the butchers, surely any other meat from the butchers is better than canned food?
  16. I have Nature's Gift canned food as emergency backup (like, real dire emergencies, it's probably been used once in the 13 months I've had Max  ) We always have people meat in the freezer, more than once they have my mums steak or whatever meat for dinner while she had crackers and water (so to speak). But I make my guys food, and buy carcasses etc in bulk so rarely run out.
  17. Oh poor Oscar. Let us know what the vet says and if there are any other options *hugs*
  18. Nothing about the lack of credibility of their expert? Where did it actually say Marie-of-the-dead-puppies was the same Marie as on the site though? Site is based in Vic, Marie is.. either from QLD or just didn't bother to change her location from the default. But did use the word "mom" so.. The profile picture of the acedogclub twitter is the same as the DOL userpic.
  19. I thought I got some great shots last night, but they are all just too blurry for my liking (although OH says she can't see the blur, I can!) but I now have a goal! There is a certain shot of Max I want to get, and I will not stop until I get it. It does mean playing with my dslr (which is embarrasingly old, I think my phone has more megapixels than it does )
  20. You really should call PetPlan to query the 12 month exclusion thing ... but sounds like they will only excluse those things for 12 months then you will be covered after that. Sounds pretty standard, though most insurers would NEVER cover you for those things. Do call PetPlan and confirm/check what they mean. Not having covesage for gastrointestinal upsets/vomiting/diarrhoea is pretty broad, as almost all major illnesses will present with one of those symptoms ... does that mean anytime she has that symptom they will reject the claim, regardless of the end diagnoses? With my first pup I had the free cover from my breeder, 6 or 8 weeks or whatever it was, then I continued that so she was covered from the day she left the breeder at 8 weeks. My second pup I got at 3 months and he was covered from the day he left the breeder as well, so no chance for exclusions really.
  21. lol the fun in playing is working out what DOESN'T work ;)
