I have one garbage disposal pug, luckily I learnt early on he has guts of steel, because he poops out the most amazing things The funniest one was when his poop was looking at me - he'd eaten some of toy (had to be the head!) and both the eyes happen to come out in the same poop

When Is The Appropriate Age To Give A Puppy Raw Meat?
minimax replied to Catarina's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'm just surprised people don't do research before giving their dogs new foods (ie: people shocked that dogs can't have grapes). And are vets not educating people? When I took my pup to the vet for her first check-up when I got them the vet verbally discussed foods that dogs couldn't have, and also gave me an information sheet, even though she knew I'd done all my research and knew what human foods could be toxic. I also got it with my second pup, which makes me think it's their standard protocol. -
What about the new colour of pug I found, a reverse fawn? They are black in the body, and have a fawn mask? Most commonly found after face-planting in the sandpit!

So far Harper wins!

Yep, It's gotta learn to pee outside at some point, may as well be right from the start.

Has it been in situations with other kids? Maybe It's had a bad experience with the owners kids which is why it reacts that way?

Don't let him back inside until he does what he needs to do. He can play all he wants, but don't interact or play with him until he does his thing, and THEN make a huge fuss with lots of treats and happy noises and playing or whatever his favourite reward is. Sniffing around is a dogs signal of "gotta go" or finding the right spot. Sometimes they need to sniff the entire yard twice before they find the right spot. If you're out there for an hour with him before he does anything, then take a book and sit and wait it out. And be grateful it's not winter

My guys get steak too, we buy it when it's on special just for them  As long as the chinese noodles didn't have a sauce on them they are fine to feed, but I wouldn't give them to my dogs if they had sauce on them just due to the chili/garlic/sugar/salt/random spices. And my guys love fruit too, but it's a definte no on the grapes - have a look at this for some no-go human foods for dogs http://www.petalia.com.au/templates/storytemplate_process.cfm?story_no=257 -
MN believes she is the answer to no kill in Aust. Getting every single dog out of just two kill pounds in NSW is not the answer. Not only has she gone in with absolutely NO idea and NO experience, it is her way or the highway. Reducing euth rates needs a multi pronged approach, there are so many elements and dynamics in play. She crucifies anyone and everyone in her path, so has no hope in working on a 'proactive' level on the bigger issues or on the "flow" of dogs living in shelters. It has been this way from the start. She reminds me of PETA and Indrid N which is a really worry in this country though also a huge concern OS. She basically moves them from one pound to a PR "pound' (mass kennels), and calls it success. I fail to see how that is success, especially considering blacktown is now apparently a no kill shelter. When did BP become a NO KILL shelter? Didn't know one existed let alone one as big as Blacktown. It's not, but PR have taken credit for turning it into a no kill shelter because they apparently take all the dogs on the kill list. They seem to miss the point that a no kill shelter wouldn't have a kill list in the first place. I wonder if blacktown know PR are going around telling everyone about their no kill status?

If dogs were invited, I'd be in!

Careful, don't tell him he can't count to ten on the FB hate page or he will delete your comment! Gotta hate it when people delete your comments, I should go make a hate page about it

I have to say, if she bought him as a pet why isn't he desexed?

I wouldn't be allowed on the premises. That's not to say I haven't seen them though. And, I'm sorry, but any group that puts a dog in boarding, that has been told by the kennel manager that the dog is pregnant on various occasions, and refused to believe it or even get a vet visit organised, is just downright neglectful. That dog whelped in boarding and had four puppies. She could have been given vetcare much sooner and whelped in a home environment. But no. They know best. And who cares about just one individual dog in boarding when there are dozens? Maybe they could have spent more attention to dogs if they weren't dealing with arm chair rescues and keyboard warriors, I've never heard of that story but the reality is stuff happens, I got my car serviced once and they didn't put something back properly where it was meant to go, I went back and had them fix it, I didn't create hate pages on facebook, find out where the mechanic lived and stalk his address, and finding out who his friends were and talking crap about him to them. Actually, yeh - you did. It was just a hate page for this forum.

If the dogs are never in danger of being killed (since they are in a no kill shelter) why all the emotive language about needing money to save them from death? and the urgent pleas for money to save them?
-
Dogs go on the kill list from the pounds, PR promote the dogs all week, if they aren't homed they take them out before they are killed thursday afternoon. So they aren't no kill shelters.
-
How can there be kill lists, PR promote themselves as having made blacktown a no kill shelter?
-
this is why I'd never take my dog, especially a puppy, to day care No way in hell would I want my dog used to socialise an aggressive dog.

Can Puppies Be Refused Challenge?

sounds like this thread could be relevant for you? -
With Petplan it states that dogs need to be vaccinated, titre testing is accepted by them Bumping an old thread because I just called PetPlan to enquire about titre testing, and I had to be asked to put through to someone who knew what they were talking about because the first person had no clue what the words meant. Finally someone did, and they said no, titre testing is not considered to be a vaccination so if your dog has a vaccinatiable disease and is titre tested but not vaccinated, PetPlan do not cover you.

Melbourne Doggy Daycare Recommendations

This. Are you teaching him to be alone at any time? -
Someone had photos of the dogs living conditions in the PR run kennels which showed them to be less than stellar. Animal welfare surely comes into the equation regardless of the "main issue"?

Are they? Who is investigating? RSPCA Been and gone... on Friday... T. Yeh, I know. But it's been the weekend since then, do we don't know if anything will actually come of it. I'm thinking they charmed their way out of it though "but we saved the doggie woggies from dieeeeeeing"
