  1. You could try running it through *cringe* instagram - that seems to make even bad photos look semi-decent
  2. The vet can show you how do express them yourself (some vicks vapour rub under your nose, gloves on your hand - hold your breath and away you go!), it's actually not difficult. Just a bit messy and gross. But much cheaper!
  3. All sounds good so far! I'm now used to cleaning up bone mess from my floors, I just make sure they stay on the tiles or lino and do a quick mop after dinner each night. It's life with dogs - it's going to be messy! My guys get a homemade raw mix for brekky, and a chicken carcass for dinner (which they love to drag all over the floor). No reason you can't feed him in the yard, either supervised if it's not secure (but probably good to ensure it's secure sometime soon), or on his own if it is secure.
  4. SOLID white is pretty rare. lack of pigment inside the ear can cause deafness, so generally white ears are a risk(inside the ear, white on top but pigmented inside is fine) white with a few patterns spots is common and perfectly acceptable(well not in the show ring, but that's for a BS reason) That's what I thought, but they said "this puppy is not a lethal white as neither parent is a merle". Does sound like they are cashing in on the "rare white" though, and their other dogs for sale make me sad.
  5. Are pure white BC's rare? I don't know if these are working line, or just random, but they are probably selling the white for a ridicious amount as it's POA - http://www.doggish.com.au/for-sale/1317/rare-litter-of-border-collie-purebred-puppies
  6. Some pharmacies have it in store, it requires a natropath or clinician details to order, but usually if you put your vets name and phone number in it's fine. My aunts a pharmacists so I get it from her, but if she hasn't got it in stock I order from http://www.fourbody.com.au/mediherb-eyebright.html and put my vets name and phone number for the practitioner's details. I think you can get it direct from Mediherb too.
  7. For the eyes, get onto Mediherb eyebright / Euphrasia as soon as you can. It can do amazing things for dogs eyes (and humans, too). I know of a dog that was close to losing an eye due to injury (something about the insides of the eye coming out) and it healed completely with eyebright (in conjunction with traditional medicines as well, but the use of traditional medicines alone hadn't been helping, adding the eyebright gave it a boost that started healing). So now we use it for all eye injuries, it comes in tablet form but you can crush them or dissolve them in water.
  8. He's trained very well - he was sitting waiting for his cue to eat the 'nana!
  9. Or pugs. You've got black or fawn - nothing else  any other colour in pugs mean there are other breeds in there.
  10. You forgot step 5 - send snarky emails to all DOl'ers who feed other brands :D I was going to suggest perhaps that was step three!
  11. How did you dual train them on both outside and inside on pee pads Minimax? I also wanted to do this and initially bought the pee pads and laid them down inside her playpen though my girl thought the pee pads are rather great to chew and destroy Trained them to pee on command, so they learnt to pee anywhere :)
  12. I have one pug who acts like being wet with the hose is the worst punishment in the world - but will run around in the rain doing zoomies like a maniac. Unfortunately he chose the moment right before jumping into bed with me to do this last night, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry lol
  13. My puppies are duel trained - both outside and inside on pee pads. They prefer outside, even in the rain, but last night when it was torrential I put a pee pad down and they were much happier to use that. It Does take longer to train puppies to use nothing though.
  14. Newgoldie when you say you'll crate train your pup during the day do you mean you're going to "crate" your pup (crate closed) all day or just have it available (open) while your out? We will be crating him (door closed). I don't want him to be able to have access to the room while we are out in case he gets into mischief, has a little 'accident' or hurts himself. Don't worry, he won't be on his own for more than 2 - 3 hours initially - we have a willing puppy visitor who will be coming to give him lunch and a toilet break every day I'm out at work. :) I've been practising by crating him with a Kong toy stuffed with treats, then going into another part of the house for a while - I started with an hour, then increased by half an hour each time until I got to 2 hours. The first time he barked solidly for half an hour, 2nd time about 10 mins, since then he is usually so interested in his treats that he goes for that and don't hear much at all. It has given me a bit of peace of mind for when I go back to work. Crate Training is more than putting them in there and shutting the door.
  15. I'm not interpreting, i'm copy/pasting.
  16. I didn't actually get the impression she was in it for the money and I still maintain the thread did not 'promote' parti poodles. The discussion was sensible and informative. Oh And to keep things clear. Can someone please point me to the rule that says we cannot discuss purebreeds that are not registered. I still can't find it. Maybe the "as recognised by the ANKC" in underlined writing in the forum rules is the giveaway? And it wasn't the discussion of the dog, it was the breeding of unregistered dogs that was the problem. DOL doesn't promote the breeding of unregistered dogs. There is also a "We reserve the right to change these terms and conditions at any time without notice to you." clause in the forum rules ;)
  17. Yes, ones a poodle and ones a PWD.
  18. That is the way I read it as well. She seems to have been sent a copy of the papers for a full sibling from another litter. Very odd. I am also curious why anyone from NSW would buy a limit register SBT puppy from Qld when there are so many available locally, all the time? Not to mention paying so much for such a common breed. I know people who paid over $2k for a blue limited reg pup from Qld recently. Breeder had two litters of blues on the ground. Not uncommon to pay so much, and for some reason Qld seems the place to be!
  19. Did you bother reading the original post?
  20. You cant expect people to know these things, well not about natural foods at least. Vets are rarely going to go into depth about diet when you take a pup in for a vaccination and often they dont give the best advice on dietitics i.e give eukanaba or hills science its the best food and we sell it and dont feed raw or the dog could choke I expect people to know what can kill their dog, otherwise they don't deserve to have one IMO.
  21. Sounds like you might need to puppy-proof the backyard, or block off access to the parts you dont want him getting to. He might want to play in the yard at some point anyway, so having it puppy safe is a good idea. Or, chair, book, puppy on a leash so he can't wander! You might just have to experiment and find what works for you (and him!) :)
  22. the whole pee pad??!!! WOW ! I think papers are digestible and won't see it in their poo. Snowy eats tissue sometimes if he gets a hold of it! I can't see it in his poo although I promise you I was looking intensely on his poo just to check if any.. :D If I accidently leave garbage disposal pug with a pee pad he eats it too, but not the whole thing, just chunks of it. The blue strips make it easier to find his poo in the backyard! Then he eats grass and sticks and flowers just to confuse me and camoflauge his poo in the yard. Cheecky little guy.
