  1. Max was the life of the party, wasn't she? Being a barrel on legs also means that you just roll, get up, and keep on playing... lol! T. She does that when she runs and does zoomies in the park ... she runsrunsrunsBARRELROLLSrunsunsruns and everyone goes "Oh Max tripped over, is she ok?" and I have to tell them that yes, she's fine she is just practicing to be a stunt pug. I've never been able to teach her to roll over, but in the middle of a zoomie she will barrel roll for no apparent reason and then keep going We really should get the three pups together again before Sammy and Harper get too big, not only did Max have the time of her life but the others really looked like they had an awesome time too.
  2. You can see Sammy and Harper watching going "ohhh Max that's gotta hurt ... ahh, carry on *POUNCE* " Sometimes being a barrel on legs has it's disadvantages, especially when trying to turn sharp corners
  3. And it's so rare that it made the news. You think everytime something happens in the world they show it on the news? Plenty of things get stolen and don't make the news.
  4. I just looked at the pictures properly on the computer, that photo of Sammy doing a flying leap into the pool onto Max is hilarious and Max's crazy eyes as she leads everyone in zoomies I do have one special pug there! Awesome pics T, would love to see more am quite happy to send you a disc or stick to put them on to save you uploading two billion images.
  5. OMG I just lost my coffee! LOL why are you coffee splurking at Max, coz she's so hilariously cute :D
  6. Feel free to email me any of my ferals that you don't post!
  7. Sorry I couldn't stay, but I really wanted to come and say Hi and meet everyone and give the pups a chance to play... although I didnt think Max would quite play that much She's my manic pug. whenever people say things about pugs being quiet and lazy and not energetic I just laugh, because she's been like that since she was born. Crazy little thing, she's been flaked out for hours while we were out tonight but was up ready to play when we got home! We will definitely have to get together again, thank you for hosting Katdogs!
  8. OK, cool. We might have to wait till the rain eases before leaving home because It's torrential and I can't get to the car without getting drenched
  9. The sky at my house is black and It's about to pour What's is like at yours?
  10. Oh God, you won't get the pugs away from you if you have a camera T! They are little posers, never miss an opportunity to park themselves right in front of the person holding a camera and refuse to move
  11. You need to watch changing your life around a dogs behavior ... that can be a slippery slope for some circumstances True, but short of wearing little barriers around your feet what else can you do if all other suggested methods fail? One of my pugs has a sheepskin slipper obsession, we solved that by wearing slippers that weren't sheepskin because I think it was the material she was attracted to. she loved the water spray detterant method, would keep coming back for more lol
  12. Hah, then chances are I know this person. Scary.
  13. Also forgot to mention that my little girl was recently diagnosed with a rare liver disorder, thus her diet is very strict - chicken & vegetarian treats are pretty much the only things I can give her, so finding an easy carry treat to reward her with had been a little difficult and like you mentioned she often then finds something of higher value than her 9 calorie fruitable biscuit, and when that happens well, I can pretty much forget making her do what I say  I suppose I could carry around cooked chicken pieces with me all day, not ideal but hey I'm willing to give anything a go at this point! Her limited diet does make it a bit more difficult, but maybe you need to make sure her training treats, or recall treats, are kept "special" so that's the only time she gets them - that way to her they might seem higher in value. Can you do something to the chicken to make it a little nicer to carry around with you? Maybe dehydrate it, or prepare it a few different ways for her so it also becomes varied and surprises her and to her seems like a different treat each time? Can she have fresh fruit and veggies? My pugs love fruit and we use fruit as training treats too, as well as veggies. Also attach a recall word - I went through a few before found one that my guys responded too. They wouldn't respond to the usual "come" or "come here" or anything. Nope, they ended up with "what's this?"
  14. We've done this as well. It works well when they are in an enclosed space and they will quite happily bolt back for a treat - but the times they have been in an open space they 'forget' all about the treat. It's like they feed off our panic, little buggers. Yeh we occasionally have the issue where they decide whatever they are playing with or going for is of higher value than the food, in that case I walk or run in the opposite direction. I use their recall word to get their attention so they can see me and that usually does it. Max especially hates the thought of being left behind and will usually choose me over whatever she was going for. However, I've not done formal training with my pugs, so there are probably easier and better ways to do things!
  15. I have pugs, so similar personalities when it comes to training, and I got their recall to be pretty reliable with food! Even now if we are in the park, they randomly get treats when they come back to me even when I haven't called them. I don't go anywhere without treats - often I reach into my pockets at work and find random treats in there and laugh, because they are everywhere. But then if for some reason I don't have treats, they are still reliable because they assume they will get a treat if they come when I call them because they do most of the time.
  16. Yes, the very same. The thing is, these are the slippers we wear inside the house and he likes to take it off our feet by any means necessary. If I don't take the slipper back, he will tear it apart. My mother in particular isn't happy that he has ruined so many slippers. He has a free access to backyard but prefers human company. Once my family head out, I let him out of the playpen for playing and training. I used to take him for a long walk daily (2+ km) but after reading the thread about exercising puppy, I've dialled it back to half the distance and made sure to stop and rest a lot, especially since he runs, not walks. About timeout, true, it only helps to remove him from the carpet / shoes. He's young and easily excitable and once focused on something, I'll have to carry him (like a baguette) to calm him down. He also seems unhappy if I leave him and go upstairs, so I've done that when he's being particularly naughty. Just do some home chores and come back down 15 min later to a much calmer puppy. But these don't deter him from repeating it, so I'd like to focus on training. Your mum might need to stop wearing slippers for a while then, until he grows out of his slipper eating phase.
  17. Pretty sure there is a huge tatt thread already if you do a search
  18. Seriously, I've lived in the city and there aren't that many skateboarders around!
  19. Not really, because if you do dremel too far and see blood, it's usually still a layer or so away and not actually open to the air yet because the dremel doesn't move that quickly. If you do hit the quick and get actual blood, it doesn't actually bleed like when you cut it. Not sure of the reason! Maybe something to do with the heat from the dremel?
  20. I have a dremel and it's awesome for nails, but mine won't sit still for the amount of time it takes. I have enough trouble pinning them down to clip a few nails at a time without them biting me and peeing on me (and yes, they've had their nails done regularly since they were born, they are just drama queens!)
