She was contained in the kitchen, which was gated off from the rest of the house. I'd not give a pup the run of the house, way too much potential for destruction, not to mention toilet training bad habits. I chose the kitchen because it was tiled, so any accidents could be easily cleaned up. I had my pup in summer, so I wouldn't have left her outside, but I don't leave my dogs outside when I'm not home anyway, regardless. But that's just personal preference!

When I got my pup she came to work with me for the first few weeks, and she mostly slept. She would play for a few minutes, then sleep on someones foot under a desk. Or curled up on my jumper. After that I didn't feel so bad leaving her home alone because I realised she really does just sleep all day! I still went home at lunch time for a while, to let her out to the bathroom, give her lunch (while she was still young) and a quick run, but sometimes it was more distressing for her to see me quickly than it was to not see me all day. I was also lucky that I could adjust my work hours around her schedule, because she had a HORRID sleep schedule - awake before the sun (around 4am - 4:30am) but then would crash out again about 5.30am. So I'd leave for work just as she was heading for her 5:30am crash out nap, leave brekky so it was there when she woke up, and that way I was home much earlier. It saved me hanging around home watching her sleep until my normal start time. Learning to be alone is really important for a puppy, from the start.

You know, sometimes accidents happen and the consequences are well out of proportion with the antecedents. You have no idea what the Council proposed in lieu of the DDDs and how much my dogs stood to lose because one person thought they could do what ever they wanted to whomever they chose. Nor can you adequately account for my deliberations in this matter or possibly know how I played my cards or know how close I kept them to my chest. The Council accepted my terms to which I conceded on the advice of my Barrister. There could have been an infinite number of other scenarios in an infinite number of parallel Universes. I might have gone to court, and I might have won. But Magistrates do not look kindly on people who waste court time. My decision was obvious. The result shows how stupidity and laziness is both dangerous and expensive. It has cost me because I took the time and made the effort to correct what was more than likely an entrenched abuse of power. I don't know why it was my dogs and I who were chosen to expose the corruption of the Council Ranger but I welcomed the task given to me, and I am thankfull for the wisdom it has provided. It is a basic Catholic tenet that we stand up for Social Justice whatever the cost. It has cost me financially but I have gained more in so many other ways. Every DO should be totally and completely au fait with the consequences of a DDD. And they should also be appraised of what Rangers can and cannot do and what can be done if they disagree. You can bet then, there wouldn't be any of the little niggling incidents that occur daily. So, that's a yes, for anyone playing at home.

Mine don't have stories behind them! Max is because I like the name for a girl - and no it's not short for Maxine!!! It's Max, just Max. Or as I often say when people ask - Max, as in "Spoilt to the..." (her registered name is Bunyong Spoilt to the Max) :D Boston is because I like the way the name sounds, and also because I love the city. But first and foremost because I like the way it sounds! Also, it fit in well as his fathers side of the family has a legal theme that goes back manymanymany generations. His dad is Aust Ch Scarborough Without A Trace (Imp NZ) so I chose Hugapug Missing in Boston for Boston. In the dog park people often ask me where my Boston is, when they hear me talk about Max and Boston, and I point to him and they say "but he'd a pug?" as though they expect Boston to be a Boston :laugh:

The default camera on android phones has a burst mode and I use it all the time. It's great for getting one good shot of the dogs lol

When I come home Max says a quick hi and then runs off and gets a toy or bone to show me. She doesn't want to play, or give it to me, just wants to show me!

Yeh ours was refunded when we returned it too, however they wouldn't let us leave without it which annoyed me. Every time my pug tipped her head forward, it slipped off (miss chunky has a bigger neck than her head, same reason she can't wear a normal collar) but the vet nurses insisted on shoving it back on and pretending it would stay there. It fell off three times on the 2 metre walk to the door, and she wasn't flexible enough to reach her stitches in the end anyway!

Exactly. A friend of mine who is a vet nurse has heard the same stories jerojath. If she was walking the dog and it stopped to munch on something would she not have noticed it was a dope plant?...seriously. I wouldn't know what a dope plant looked like if I tripped over one!

Is it just me or did that thread get a heavy pruning from Troy? The discussion about the odd, abusive private messages appears to be gone. Yep, seems to have been heavily edited to take out the posts about the creepy company owner messaging DOL'ers about how they aren't qualified to comment on the quality of the food and how it's awesome food despite what their dogs may think :laugh:
