  1. Alo, accepting donations via paypal when you aren't a registered not for profit can get your paypal account suspended, so you might want to take that down (and investigate the t&c's!)
  2. And not only are we a huge community, but we have big mouths
  3. One point I'd be interested in here experienced rescue DOL'ers weigh in on is aggressive dogs being released from pounds. CBE is under the impression this never happens.
  4. You're saying you know how a good temperament test will cover stressors in the pound. I'd like to hear about that, as I'm interested in assessment. So how is that done? And what temperament test you know does that? Wasn't Cosmolo previously talking about that sort of thing? Taking into account the situation the dog is in and acknowledging that the dog may behave/react differently due to the stress of the pound?
  5. I got an email from Jacob. He said he was trying to reply here but couldn't, I think it's because either he was trying to reply without signing up, or hadn't verified/activated his account if he had signed up. I said perhaps he could sign up to DOL, if he was interested, and join us in conversation as we all seem to have the same goal of having the animals welfare as top priority.
  6. Def go a different vet then, if he thinks he knows the problem, but isn't investigating.
  7. There you go, it was the 5 minute threat that did it
  8. I'd probably be trying to leave him home alone more often to get him used to it - teaching him alone time as you would a new puppy (in small increments, with special treats or toys he only gets when you go out, long term treats like frozen kongs or frozen ice-buckets etc)
  9. He has ties to doggyrehab.com - and at least she seems to have some qualifications if nothing else.
  10. Pretty sure they are all on the websites anyway, so It's public info.
  11. Was yours the Ted Bundy comment  They (meaning the paper) are editing comments before posting them... taking out details of PR.
  12. Which is odd, why wouldn't he list his qualification on his website/fb to make himself appear more credible?
  13. Just looked at the comments on the news article, they aren't chronological so it's really hard to read! The usual PR fanatics though, but some actual good comments. I hope some people reading can weed out the crazies.
  14. Oh, how I miss the Mister Rolley Eyes emote. Basically, a Cesar Millan wannabe. Choke it, pinch it, kick it into being "calm submissive" (i.e. terrified and shut down) and call the problem solved. Just what rescue needs. I was concerned that they are claiming to be a no kill shelter, rehabilitating and rehoming "problem" dogs. What if they can't rehabilitate a dog, what if it's too aggressive or not suitable for rehoming, do they rehome it anyway as they are "no kill"? I was also concerned about his lack of qualifications or experience listed. Plus he does boarding or day care and the dogs run with his pack. He has dogs listed on Pet Rescue and doesn't list what their issues were before he "rehabilitated" them, so I wonder if he is fully disclosing (what he knows of their behaviors) to new potential owners?
  15. yep, as soon as I changed that word I found them everywhere :p
  16. C.B.E and Rescue or Canine Behaviour Expert and Rescue is the first of its kind in Australia and a NO KILL Rescue Rehab Centre. They have a website - http://www.caninebehaviourexpert.com/ & http://www.cbeandrescue.org/ and FB: https://www.facebook.com/JBLs.CBE And Pet Rescue: http://www.petrescue.com.au/groups/10613
  17. I use the tablets - I start with one tablet when I see any eye issues, but some dogs need to start on a smaller dose, like half a tablet, just in case it upsets their tummy. But I do one tablet a day until I see noticeable improvement, then I go to half a tablet a day for a few weeks, until the issue has cleared up and then for at least another week past then just to help with any further internal healing and repair. I usually coat it in peanut butter and pretend it's a treat and my guys just take it, but sometimes need to hide it in their food or whatever. Just feed it the way they normally take tablets. As it's "practitioner only" (which doesn't mean prescription only) I put in my vets details. No one has ever contacted her, but she knows I use her details and is fine with it. http://www.australianvitamins.com/products/view/395 or http://www.fourbody.com.au/mediherb-eyebright.html
  18. Oh I remember going there when I was a teen, it's a lovely place.
  19. If I wasn't, I'd take it up with the vet, not an internet forum.
  20. Out of curiosity, the person who doesn't tell their agent about dogs and snakes and rodents, how do you hide those at inspection times? Sorry for OT.
