  1. Wow! If you keep that up you'll be getting orders from DOL'ers in no time. Sure beats the towels I put over my crates (that make awesome play things as soon as I turn my back  )
  2. Poor little guy. I'd freak if someone asked about resus too Excessive grass eating doesn't sound normal, but I'm glad he's ok. Lots of cuddles for the Zig-man today (and SL!)
  3. I might give it a go - I don't mind about the price. I was just trying to use an Australian made product :) The Applaws dry is made in Australia though the cans are imported. It doesn't matter where it is made as long as it suits your dog. The dog is the priority. :) What a sad attitude Im pretty sure Rosetta is aware that her dog is her priority, but kudos to her for trying to find a food which supports our country and suits her dog. X's 2, Clyde Soooooooo, you people are more interested in where your food is made, than the quality and nutrition that is available in it and its suitability for your dogs. I am sure Rosetta will find a product suitable for her dog in the long run. We all know she cares or she wouldn't be asking and we care to or we wouldn't be trying to help. Suitability takes into account many things, and often the source comes into suitability. I don't feed my dogs treats that come from china, in my eyes they are not suitable for my dogs. The source of the food is often a part of quality. If the quality is not good, the suitability is not good. Therefor, yes the source is important.
  4. Some people choose to let their pups hump toys/objects, whereas some choose to train them out of it. It's personal choice. Personally I use anything like that as an opportunity for training, because by teaching a command to stop humping a toy means if they ever decide to move on to hump anything else you've already got a command to stop the behaviour and don't have to start training something when it's too late. However, I unfortunately chose "off" as my stop humping word, and my girl only humps her brother (and usually only his head) so whenever i say "Max, Off" and anyone hears it, the typical response it "it looks like she's already getting off!" So I suggest a different word :p
  5. Is Paul another of Mark's personalities, or a real person?
  6. I was eating salt & vinegar chips the other night and got this sad look:
  7. + 100000 I started with a kitten collar, then progressed to a kitten harness before she was big enough for a puppy harness. And I'd never put an adversive like citronella on a collar or lead, even to stop them chewing. You want them to like it, not for it to have anything negative attached.
  8. That seems a bit wrong, and seems to send the message that's ok to leave your pet suffering and dying without providing adequate medical care I wonder what the grounds for dismissal were, and why the RSPCA had to pay the mans legal costs. Probably because he provided "adequate food, water and shelter" under the RSPCA's own standards
  9. I put them on around the house and let them get used to it, just having it on and dragging the lead around at first. It's a new sensation so it takes them a bit to get used to. Once they realise the collar and lead doesn't bite, It's a bit easier to actually start walking them on it.
  10. Haha yeh baby highchairs can be pretty good places for dogs to hang out. Maybe that's the time he needs to go in his crate with a bone, or have his dinner in another room? I use diluted vinegar for pee accidents, no set mixture just enough that the vinegar is quite noticeable to smell. Much cheaper than UrineOff! One day toilet training will just click for him. It may take a while, especially in the rain and cold. My female pug doesn't like going outside in the rain, but she is trained to go inside on pee pads as well as outside, so it's not a drama. But you may just have to stick his leash on and take him out. I taught my guys to pee on command, which makes those times much easier and quicker as well.
  11. Nothing wrong with using a spray bottle if he jumps up, however jumping up on the cupboards isn't self-rewarding if you are giving him food. You are training him to jump up, so decide if you want him to jump up or not and stick with it, because you can't reward him sometimes and punish him othertimes, that's not fair. How is he meant to know the right way to do it if you give him mixed messages? Does he have stuff to pee up against in the yard, or is the only thing the back door/wall etc? Being a boy he will want things to lift his leg on, like trees or plants or clothes lines etc, does he have these? And if the places he's been peeing on smell of pee, he will keep going back there, so are you getting rid of the smell with vinegar etc? Sounds like you might need to start putting him on a leash and taking him outside to toilet, and staying out there with him until he goes to teach place to go. And if you know he's only doing a little wee to get a treat, don't give him the treat. If the kids toys are on the floor, how does he know they aren't his toys? I think that's a human training issue, not a dog training issue ;) Kongs are good, my pugs get kongs each day when I go out. Chicken necks/wings/carcasses etc are more dinner than entertainment as they last only minutes. My guys get lamb shanks for entertainment or when I'm studying and need some peace and quiet. Or things like pigs ears. Seems like things are slowly getting better. And he's very cute!
  12. He actually seems to believe his alternate identity is real. That's seriously creepy.
  13. You'll get used to people assuming he's a girl. Even when you say "His name is Nova" they will say "Oh isn't she sweet" and you'll say "yes, he is" and they will say "oh, a boy, sorry" and you'll smile sweetly whilst stabbing them in your head  My female pugs name is Max, I go through this regularly~ Dory gets this ALL the time, and she is a GIRL with a GIRL'S name (okay, it's a fish too  ) I think because she is scruffy and has a beard they assume boy. (Aaannnnd her constant cocking her leg on things probably doesn't help with the image either. :D ) PS....FIVE HOURS TO GO..... Thank god I'm at work, I'd be picketing the airport terminal by now. Hope pup wasn't coming from Sydney, I've been watching the radar and there are lots of holding patterns and not many planes going in or out due to the fog
  14. Plus that's a dammed if you do, dammed if you don't. If she had started a new thread she would have been stoned to death for starting a new thread.
  15. So now it's "our legal team" whereas yesterday he knew nothing about it? classic

  17. Oh but intensely savage... http://www.katietakesapicture.com.au/ // huga
  18. This describes my two perfectly. My girl is the outgoing, bossy one and my boy is the laid back one who cops her abuse! I know the situations that tend to cause issues in my two, and tend to make sure the times we are in those situations are kept to a minumum, but my girl gets timed out in the kitchen if she gets too violent, because I'm the grown up and sometimes I need to step in to keep them both safe (and my sanity safe).
  19. I would resent it. Why should I have to prove I can be a responsible owner just cause my breed of choice weighs over 25 kilos. I've seen 2 kilo fluffballs chase kids out onto a street. I would too, because chances are the person giving the course would get their knowledge from the back of a cereal box.
  20. Just because you sacrifice something doesn't mean you feel negatively about it or are not receiving appropriate benefits/pleasures from having your pets.
  21. The best thing is to do a search. Basically there are two options - PetPlan or everyone else. PetPlan is the only one underwritten by Allianz, everyone else is underwritten by Holland so their cover is pretty much the same. There are a trillion threads here on Pet Insurance, so do a search and see what people have said. If it's for a dog that's had any of the above conditions, they will be considered pre-existing and not covered (probably only for 12 months with PetPlan, possibly for life with anyone else).
  22. Or maybe they realised the footage wasn't actually showing Moorook in the positive light that the Aldridge cult had made it out to be, and it wasn't actually newsworthy afterall?
  23. Try posting in the Dane thread too, there are some great knowledgeable Dane people in there.
  24. Heard on the radio this morning that the dogs have been PTS. http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/dog-owner-fined-four-months-before-jogger-attacked-20130527-2n6p8.html
  25. You don't think they care for the animals they have in their care well enough? I'm just saying if they are lacking in funds, which they seem to be if they are begging for donations, perhaps they could look closer to home for some cash...
