  1. congratulations, you like to toot your own horn. but take your dog to the vet. if you don't like your vet or the unnecessary tests they do, find a new one.
  2. So glad I have dogs that aren't flexible enough to lick themselves
  3. If quality breeders don't advertise where "normal" people look, how will "normal" people ever find a quality dog? I doubt many people who want a pet dog would be looking through online pedigree dog ads, but they might look at gumtree/etc, so if a pedigree breeder is advertised there, perhaps they have captured someone that might have otherwise only seen ads for BYB dogs?
  4. Oscars Law are spending their donations well, I see, with overseas trips.
  5. I put my guys Advantix on while they are having dinner, they don't even notice it. One pug has a really thick coat so I put his in two spots otherwise it just seems to sit on the coat, but the other one is fine in one spot.
  6. The next one down there is January 11th, I'll be at that one, and it will be bigger.
  7. Not I (although I'm not a Nowra person, but I am a dragon boat person. Just didn't go down to today's regatta as I was busy  )
  8. Do you pick his poop up as soon as he does it, so he doesn't have the opportunity to eat and/or play with it? But he's not doing it to annoy you, he's doing it coz he thinks it's fun (in some gross way...)
  9. We aren't in a similar area, but I was at the vet a few weeks ago with a dog who was having breathing issues and the vet said they were seeing the second strain of KC coming through this season We didn't have it, luckily (just hayfever), but here in Sydney there are several different strains going around so perhaps it's happening up there too?
  10. The instructions on my bell thing say to rub something yummy smelling on it, so it encourages the pup to go near it, and to reward when they ring it on their own. However that's not a correct general targeting method
  11. I have a bell that someone gave me when I got my first pup, and the instructions on the back of it are basically about ringing the bell everytime you take pup out to the bathroom, and then as Lisa says, working on targeting the bell as you take them. Similar concept to peeing on command, or any training - repetition and reward.
  12. And the people being attacked harden up, grow some balls. Right Jed?
  13. My 18 month old Pug comes running through the house when he hears us finish the toilet paper, he waits eagerly for the toilet roll then chases it around the house and eats it (or, half of it before his sister steals it) It's just a bit of fibre.
  14. Can you draw a tennis ball on your hand  Sorry, not helpful :p I have the same issue with my pugs, they don't do a thing unless they see what's in it for them.
  15. I went to have a look at this site and got a virus warning !! emgem, perhaps you need to contact your cousins to tell them their site has been compromised. Just an FYI, the site hasn't been compromised it's a line of raw code no enclosed in a tag triggering a false positive.
  16. Come to think of it, I had the same thing happen to me with my Sarah while I was at the Vet School. Her sample I collected with a kidney dish had crystals but the sterile sample the vet collected directly from her bladder didn't . That's interesting. I wonder how it works, does it mean there are crystals in the pee tubes not actually the bladder? It didn't make sense to me when it happened with Max, but I took the positive news and ran with it without really questioning it!
  17. My two have hayfever, Max had some anti -inflammatories to help her breathing, but I give Boston a little phennergen when he gets gaspy and it seems to help a bit. I have it on hand for when he eats bees in summer
  18. Perhaps other parts of the world actually enforce rules and laws around dogs? (just a suggestion, no actual evidence or anything nor time to look it up, but it is an interesting question)
  19. Exactly. When I was in Europe there was dogs everywhere, and it was great (especially when I saw a pair of black pugs in a bakery  ). And they were all on a lead. Aussie's wouldn't cope with having to leash their dogs if they were able to take them everywhere Europeans could, the freedom would just be too much and they would be compelled to abuse it.
  20. Yet, they don't give you erasers when you make a mistake, but a whole new paper!
  21. If you haven't had a sterile urine sample taken, directly from the bladder as Rappie suggested, definitely do it. I got dramatically different results with the amount of crystals in Max's samples from when it was collected normally to when it was done via a needle into her bladder. The results from the sterile sample showed almost none whereas the sample from when the vet stuck a pan under her and then immediately under the microscope showed a lot. Not sure how that works though!
  22. Is he being taught to go bathroom on command? If so, peeing on walks etc shouldn't be setting him back but actually helping his training as it's more opportunity to use and reward the bathroom command.
  23. This isn't true. They can, and do, increase their excess along with their rates.
