Common Ingredients In Dog Food...
minimax replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
If you call BS then why post such misinformation online? You are just perpetuating the myths (and making yourself look a tad foolish). MUP didn't post it, kelpiecuddles did. -
Unfortunately exercise might be one of the only ways, if you can't walk her is there someone you know that can? A local dog walker? And replacing the schmacko with veggies, if you really need to give her something. Or putting food into a kong and making her work for it, even wet food can be fed this way.

The mens jammies at PA are usually heaps better than the girls. Unfortunately (or ... fortunately!) no mens pug jammies though, and the girls ones are too pick and short and icky to bother with as I won't wear them

... or they could work on enforcing the rules they have around picking up dog poo if there is that much of it on the ground that its a health risk

Did they have Just one patella done, or two for that price?

A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their Puppy
minimax replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat
Most 10 year old pugs I know would be most offended to be called elderly as they are still really pups ;) They are a little slower than they used to be, but def not elderly. The 15 year olds are (were) elderly, gorgeous little dottery old men though. My pug, although only 2, loves playing with bigger dogs. Pugs don't know they are small. Her current friend at the park is an Aussie pup actually. -

FWIW, 10 years isn't elderly and pugs are tough little buggers. But not being able to separate them is reason enough, and the heat factor. I'd leave the rest out of it and keep it simple if she's having issues understanding. Make it all about the other dog, lots of concern for the other dog, poor little dog should stay in its own home, etc ;) -
So they shouldn't bother getting involved in small stuff?

Only if he surrenders them/one, which means he signs over rights to them and can't necessarily have them back, or if they are seized based on animal cruelty laws AND THEN he agrees to surrender them or the RSPCA wins in court if he protests. Which is totally frustrating in apparent cases like this, but there still needs to be that legal process, as dogs are the property of their owners (not that I think you were questioning that MM!). No I get what you mean, I guess I was more wondering they had any programs for low/no cost desexing, but you're right they can't force him to desex them. I wonder if he would voluntarily desex them after this has caused so much drama for him.
-
I wonder if this publicity will make the owner of his house (or dept of housing?) realise he's got a few too many legs in the house and come knocking on the door...
-
Can the RSPCA desex his adult dogs so they don't accidentally "hook-up" again :/

Bit of sea salt and they sound like a great evening snack CC

Some dogs can't handle raw meat, but agree with the others on trying a probiotic (or natural yoghurt). Could he be eating something outside when he gets his bones? I know one of my guys loves to bury his bones and dig them up about 10times before eating them, so they end up covered in dirt and worms and godonlyknowswhat, so it might be the "accessories" he's eating, more than the meat itself?

Good luck if you try and ask on their FB page about their quality control or ingredients, I tried once and my question kept getting deleted until I was banned. I just wanted to know if the chicken stick things were as affected by pesticides, antibiotics and poisons as the chicken tenders, but they didn't want to respond, so I took that as a yes.

lol taking them to the vet and stopped to have a beer? Doesn't everyone? What vet was he taking them to if he was walking through the city in a cardboard box?

Ask Aidan, he's a maths genius and can probably decipher it. I tune out when I see numbers, they may as well be Arabic to my brain.

raineth, when a study is done on MCTs in pugs, you can bet the pugs will have MCTs ;) It doesn't say the breed has a predisposition, they were studying the behaviour of MCTs in pugs. If you read it, it actually says: We conclude that MCT in pugs are relatively benign, despite the presence of multiple cutaneous tumours in most cases.
-
I thought we were talking about breeds prone to health problems, and had veered specifically into pugs and MCTs, not any dog in particular
-
Maybe time to lay off a little, you're coming off pretty hard on someone who has a sickly dog and would like to avoid the same pain next time. Uh, I have pugs. If there is a known issue with the breed and specialists are keeping quiet about it coz they are "busy" then that's something that should be known. If they have researched evidence, they should publish it. If they don't, then don't go spreading rumours.
-
Have they published their findings from their (peer reviewed) research? Coz I can't find them!
-
If it's to keep your current dog company during the day, a smaller pup like a frenchie won't be able to be left alone with a bigger dog for quite a while, until it's grown up some. So that might not meet your requirements right now?
-
I also did bit of research last night (procrastinating, as I have three assignments due!) using my unis journals databases etc and couldn't find any research that mentioned pugs in relation to higher prevalence to MCTs. Personally, I'd be opting for research over someones opinion.

Which is American and next to useless.

I think the worst part is the lame excuse they've given for his blindness. I really hope they don't actually believe it...
