Animal Naturopath Recommendations?
minimax replied to Red Fox's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
+1 for McDowell, or All Natural Vet Care in Russell Lea (NSW) do phone consults as well. -
sorry ... but I cannot imagine a pug 'draping' My pug is currently asleep on my head, he's not so delicate about it though
-
They say they are identical, just different brand names, but if they aren't actually based in Australia and are sending from overseas, there could be issues with getting them into the country.
-
If you google, it seems to say Stronghold is the UK version of Revolution. I'd be wondering why they have the UK version and not the local version, if they are an Australian store?
-
Well, since you're having so much luck you obviously don't have to take any of the advice you asked for on board :) Maybe your attitude about "just wanting him gone" is coming through, whether you realise or not?
-
What about doing some training with him, so he's not boisterous in so many situations? You can do as many cute photos as you want, but I doubt it's his appearance during people off, it's his behaviour and personality and lack of training. People will see the word boisterous boisterous boisterous 20 times, or how "enthusiastic" he is on walks and close the window and find one who isn't.

My pups favourite toy is whatever one makes the most irritating noise
-
I didn't read it all, but the first paragraph says constant pulling on a leash can cause damage. That's a world away from a collar causing damage.
-
Sounds likes perfect timing to work on his jumping up, since the opportunity is there.
-
Wow, he's very similar to Boston (size aside lol) with the reddy/brown especially on the flank.
-
We use the JW balls that have feet so the Pugs can carry them by the feet
-
There are fawns further back on both sides, and out of his litter of six there was one fawn, so that would make sense in my extremely basic understanding of genetics
-
I have one with a jet black glossy coat, which just makes his stand out more! Funnily enough the one with the jet black shiny coat has a fawn mother so if anything I'd expect her to be the one with wonky colouring
-
I did wonder that, but his desexed sister has the best coat out of the whole litter. What's too much, in relation to the furminator?
-
Maybe there was a bug or something in the bowl once that scared her or even stung her, so now she's a little shy? Are you able to move it to a different location and see if she goes back to using it?
-
No, both his parents are black.
-
He's brushed regularly with the furminator, and I could create a second dog with the amount that comes off him each time! He sheds like a ... well, like a pug so he's brushed often. I initially thought I could brush the colouring out but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Then over winter his coat got thicker and fluffier, so I thought when that dropped it might take some of the colour with it, but no. He's destined to be half fawn  I've spoken to his breeder and she said he's got a worse version of his mothers coat, and hers started to grow out at around 2 and a half (he's 20 months now). She suggested livamol or Colour-Max if I wanted to try anything. I meant to put a pic in my initial post but forgot to click attach, duh. It shows the black racing stripe down his back and the messy grey/brown weird body colour.

Same here BUT my boy is a bully and cannot 'reach' his boy bits. Bullys are not very bendable  Mine's a pug - same issue
-
My 20 month old (desexed) boy has a brain when it suits him, but he's still very puppyish as opposed to my girl who is 6 months older and had hardly any 'puppy' left at around 9 months! He also never marks in the house but loves every tree, pole, leaf, pram (a favourite!) or blade of grass when out. The only other icky boy thing is keeping his boy bits clean, but most dogs probably do that themselves and I just wipe him with a damp tissue every now and then. He's much cuddlier than my girl, and I know a lot of people with boys say they twmd to be cuddlier.
-
His secure indivudual runs sound very roomy. I'd never do free range, it sounds like a recipe for disaster.
-
The more you pay attention to her wound, the more she will pay attention to it. So leave it and let it be.

I need to start working on Boston's coat - I'd left it for a while as he developed a "racing stripe" down his back that went dark black and I thought it might expand and start to turn his whole coat black, but it hasn't. He's still a very odd black pug that isn't completely black  His neck and butt are especially grey/brown and it's very noticeable when he's next to Max, as her coat is amazingly black and shiny and his is dull and flecked with random colours. I know people feed Livamol for dogs coats, and I used to use it for the horses but I'm wondering if it will bring out the brown instead of the black in his coat and if I should something more like Supplavet Colour-Max Black? I just can't find the ingredients of the Colour-Max and I'm not sure I want to feed something when I don't know what's in it.

Is he crate trained? I mean, as opposed to just putting him in his crate, is he actually crate trained?

What Do You Do For Your Dog If They Have To Be Left Alone?
minimax replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Can you do some training with her before you go out, so she's tired and happy to chill out and sleep while you're out? Left with a yummy kong or something that distracts her for a few minutes while everyone actually walks out the door. -
Could the pain meds be reducing his appetite? Has he been pooping? If he's a bit backed up that could also contribute to not wanting to eat.
