Dog Stays By Deceased Owner's Side.
Peace_Of_Mind replied to Blackdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh my god that was so sad, hard not to cry I hope someone is looking after the poor dog. -
Well if they haven't learnt a lesson from this then they are not responsible dog owners. Won't get away lightly second time round (hopefully no 2nd round)

Firecracker Set Alight In A Cat
Peace_Of_Mind replied to skyesblue's topic in Dog Cruelty and Abuse News
Oh my god, what a horrible thing to do. This world has some disturbing human beings to be able to do such horrific thing to a defenseless little kitten. Bastards -
Terrible. Report it for sure. Your dog may not have been under control (small fine for you), but that other dog sounds extremely dangerous. They should pay your vet bill, and that dog should be declared dangerous. I really hope your dog is ok. Greyhounds are fragile, and shouldn't be off lead at all unless in an enclosed space. I agree report it. That dogs sounds very dangerous. I hope your dog is doing okay :)

If it was a small child would be a totally different outcome.

I am not sure if i posted this on here or not when it happened. a Few months ago i was driving home, it was after dark. I drove past a little black cat who was killed on the road, he was still in themiddle of the street. I got home and i couldnt stop thinking of him to turned around, i was going to move him off the road so if the owners came out to find him he wouldnt be squished to the road and they could find him laying on someones front lawn in stead. I drove over and parked and got out and went to grab him He was still alive  He must have been in so much pain, he went nuts and tried to attack me, i managed to get him into my car where he was fitting and screaming. I got him home first and into the bathroom. I run the vets who said to keep an eye on him and see how he goes and bring him in if he got worse. Within about 10 mins he was having massive fits, i tried to snuggle him up but his fitting wouldnt allow it, i was a total mess and rung mum to come get us and drive us to the vets. He fitted again and hit his head on the floor pretty hard. We picked him up with him screaming in pain and rushed him to the vets. They took one look at him and said he had to be PTS So i just want to say to those who think it is ok to have their pets roaming that i hope one day the above does not happen to your cat. I still have nightmares about it and wish i could find the owners and slap them for letting this little one roam. Because of them he suffered a horrifying death. I also wont swerve if i see an animal, i will slow down if possible but wont swerve. As heart breaking as the end may be for that animal, it would be horrible if i ran into another car and killed a person. At least i know my cats (the ones who are unhappy and living horrible lives inside) will never ever have to suffer this way. Oh what a horrible story. You did the right thing to help the little cat. Owners should be accountable for their cats, but unfortunately some are not.

I know most people don't like roaming cats and I have read alot of your points of view and I respect everyone's opinions. Some weeks ago I wrote about a little grey cat that I found in the front part of the garden of my building and looked a little timid, but it eventually let me pat him/her. Anyway this morning whilst having breakfast I noticed the same cat walk by my balcony. Again a little shy and it took me about a few minutes to him/her feel comfortable and safe with me. Once we had sorted out that I was OK, the little cat was so friendly and purring away. Let her inside for a little bit and then took some snap shots - see below:- I have been told she lives a few houses down and is new to the neighbourhood.

Kew, Victoria :) Thanks POM...my son and his wife live in Kew and they have a Retriever, will let them know. :) Well I am glad the word is getting around. I guess the owner of the dog who was nearly poisoned did the right thing by distributing the flyers through people's letterboxes. I might actually put it on facebook as well.

That is interesting. Which suburb?

I heard about this yesterday. Apparently the goat has been on the run since last Thursday. Lucky that he was not killed by a car Story here: http://www.smh.com.au/environment/animals/melbournes-elusive-goat-finally-caught-20120206-1r0q3.html Video here: http://au.tv.yahoo.com/sunrise/video/-/watch/28213543/escape-goat-captured-in-melbourne/ Fastest goat I have seen, runs like a tiger. At least it is safe and sound now :) I am guessing the owners are not going to come forward and claim it.

As per other discussions/debate about cats being indoors or outdoors, a cat find itself in the middle of of an English Premier league soccer game. Watch video here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/07/cat-soccer-field_n_1259248.html I suspect someone took the cat to the game and let it lose on the ground. Poor little darling, looking a little scared but was happy to be taken off field.

I agree definitely NO good reason to try and poison a dog.... I would think it would be someone close to them, like one of the neighbours. I don't see anyone else who might have a grudge against this individual to kill his/her dog. Very close to home indeed.
-
Great idea to spread the word with flyers, now pet owners can be on alert and make sure their animals won't be harmed and take extra precautions.
-
I live in the Eastern region of Melbourne :) I think we hear more about it now because of the internet through forums like this and social networking sites. My friend who introduced me to this forum is such a wonderful lady and wouldn't hurt a fly (whilst I am quite feisty) we both agree that if we were to ever witness a human being being cruel to an animal we would not hesitate to take a baseball bat to to their head (sounds like we are wicked women) but we are not and want to protect defenseless animals.

How very disturbing for you! Good on the people who have put the flyer together though. Are your dogs well clear of any potentially unfriendly fenceline? At the moment Liz I don't have any pets but I am worried about my many neighbours who have cats and dogs. How can someone be so cruel? If you had a problem with a dog i.e. barking, you just talk to the owners and if they don't do anything about it, report to council.
