Hi everyone just to let you know that Rose Hip Vital really does work on my old Golden Shane 12yrs I have just about tried everything but he was still pretty bad.He has been on Rosehip Vital for about 3 months now and it is working great So far I have been giving him 15 caps day with 5 1500 mm fish oil caps and two vit E caps. The reason he is on such a high dose of fish oil is dogs need more of it than the human dose. I get the Rose hip caps because they are only $35 dollars from Chemist Warehouse for 250 caps much cheaper than on the net but I think I will try the Rose Hip Canine powder 500 gram but a bit worried he might not eat it in his food and the caps dont taste of anything so when given in his food with the fish oil caps and vit E he has no idea they are in there. The human Rose Hip Vital is no different to the Canine dose as I have spent hours researching this. It maybe be a good idea to try the caps first to see if it works for your dog as you will be out laying only $35 as it works out cheaper than the small container of the Canine powder. Shane can now go for walks and the distance is getting longer and longer to build up his muscles again. Also his coat is soft and shiny in fact in himself he has never been better. It Does Work for chronic Arthritis.

Another Joint Supplement: Rose-hip Vital Canine
seeana replied to ness's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi every one I am trying to work out why dogs have to have so much more Rose hip Vital than we do???? as for instance ' say a man at 100 kilo's would only have to start on 10 caps a day and for maintenance dose only 5 caps a day human dose is the same what ever weight they are rather odd don't you think. -
Hi everyone my Golden Shane has just had a cruciate ligament repair about a fortnight ago its looking good But' he must lose weight so am grating heaps of carrots to mix in with his dog food he has brown rice two tablespoons of lean mince or chicken with Royal Canin kibble I halved that and put in the grated carrots to replace the bulk,he is not complaining at all in the fortnight he has lost about a kilo' my Vet is very pleased as half a kilo a week is the right way to go about it apparently. Must admit he is spoiled' but then he is 10years old and a gentler sweeter old gentleman you will not find,he is bit peeved at the moment as he cannot get up on the bed until his knee is healed. So go for your life on the Carrots they are a fantastic filler.

Where Is The Best Dog Friendly Place To Live With A Beach
seeana replied to seeana's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thank you for your reply..... we are coming up there mid Jan for a holiday as my partners daughter lives at Goolwa,we are renting a dog friendly house for a week on hindmarsh Island. Could you tell me if there is any problems with ticks there as we might have to get some protection for our two Goldens. It sounds reallygood about the beaches ,will steer clear of the dunes though. Our dogs are very well behaved off leash so if we go to the beaches before 10am so they can run free for a while we should be fine. Looking forward to the holiday although not the Road trip lol. -

The school system should be teaching kids to be more dog accepting? I think there are many things our education system needs to improve on before pet ownership education will be considered. What is more important than teaching basic human kindness and responsibility, if the parents are incapable of teaching that (and some are) Surely its up to the schools to pass on that knowledge to the best of their capability . Kindness and care for any living being is I believe the most important lesson we can learn, if it is not in us already ....surely after that everything should go hand in hand. Some farm Schools have animals and it teaches the children how to care for them here in Aus.I have read of some schools in the USA that bring dogs into the classroom so the children can interact with them and learn about how to look after them. Out of the mouths of babes. But that would be the sensible thing to do wouldn't it. There is a program in Victoria that teaches children (Kindy and primary) how to interact with dogs kindly and safely. The people that go to the schools have been trained extensively with the program and their dogs have passed temperament tests. Lets hope the Education Dept extends this to all Kindy and Primary Aus wide as this could be life changing for some children. -

Ummm.. It's nothing like apartheid. Ok poor analogy I admit ........how about this a smoker in a room of non smokers. Yeah but smokers are hurting other people - passive smoking is a proven cause of cancers etc. I have no issue with people smoking - I think you should be able to do what you want to do to your body, but, it's not fair that others should be hurt by your actions. Having your dog with you if it's well-behaved does not hurt anyone (unless they're allergic or something). What I was getting at in the first place is how the Councils treat dog owners and their dogs and how unfair it is! that's what I was trying to get over............ Um ..........discrimination Ah that's the word I was looking for, just couldn't think of it. -

Arty looks absolutely adorable it took me over 40 yrs to bring a Golden into my life now I have two this is JMO ......but they would have to be one of the most incredable animals ever. My old golden Shane has brought me so much laughter and joy over the years and when I look into his eyes the kindness intellegence and understanding stands out like a beacon ,may you have many wonderful years with Arty as I am having with Shane. -
When you think about it this is the world we live in being dogs or humans there is always someone who takes pleasure in ruining it for everyone. It would be great if it could be arranged where there is a leash free beach to try and arrange for some sort of doggy club could be formed so there could be reguler meets with caring dog owners as there is safety in numbers. When we can sell our property and find a place to live near a leash free beach I know that is what I would try to set up somehow. Well I can dream cant I.

I must be truthful and say I am not really that into cats But that being said in a houseful of 4 dogs my one cat Tiddles is an angel and my dogs adore her. ..We rescued her from death row and when we trained horses she became the stable cat ...she built up a re pore with our big full on thoroughbreds and all of them loved her .....she wandered in and out of the stables and never once did the horses step on her ...it was wonderful to see . It became a mouse and rat free area as no rodent in its right mind would step foot in there so good was she. Now a few years on and the stables empty since our retirement from racing she found the transition from stable to house very easy. The dogs replace the horses as her first love and she always accompanies on out walks to the dam and across the paddocks. Thinking about it ....she is very special and kind as her ability to adapt to any situation is amazing, also her patience with our rather clumsy and lively Golden pup was a sight to behold.

Sorry meant without lead, all have coller on.....oops.
-
I am one that is all for having off lead places for Well behaved dogs to run free .....that being said and owning 4 bigger dogs the only problems I have had is with one or two very small dogs (it must be the small dog syndrome) but my guys just put their head up and ignore. That was a few years ago and I must be lucky as now no problems at all. It all gets down to the owner of the dog in question as we all know the few spoil it for the rest ...anti social owner anti social dog or just sheer ignorance. There is nothing better than watching my dogs off lead enjoying themselves without a collar and lead they need to run free sometimes..... I have Never had a complaint in fact they are often approached and respond with kindness and restraint as I have trained them to. It is great that another leash free area has been opened up as there is so few of them.Pressure must have come from somewhere and those that pushed for that should make sure as much as they can that the few that spoil it for others are made unwelcome and or reported. All going well it would be a happy social place ......to those those that like to keep their dogs on leash ' take your pick there are many places to go. Surely you would not begrudge one or two places opening up to let our best friends run free sometimes.......would you.

We Need More Dog Friendly Places In Australia

+1 Yep, this is really the crux of the issue. It's all well and good to have more dog-friendly places become available in Australia, but the majority of dog owners need some serious lessons in public canine etiquette first. I think why it is so successful in Europe is because their view of dog ownership is so different, and is largely very responsible. This is exactly what I am getting at ....we have to change our outlook. But how to get the the message out there ....its all a matter of education and I think that a good place to start is in the school system ,because in some cases it not coming from the parents. -

I have used STAYZ and it was good we rented a house for a week at Callah Beach and it was great But although in off season (April) there was a curfew on the beaches and we could only go there before 9am and after 7pm. Did our homework before we went to find off leash friendly beaches only to find the rules had changed once we got there.I find it hard as my dogs are very well trained and socialised yet often feel like a second class citizen if we want to take our dogs anywhere. Thinking about it its a bit like Apartheid really. -

Thanks for your input.Your replies have some really good points....Ok maybe good ownership is not 99% I still say that there are more responsible pet owners than not. But it doesn't solve the main problem and that is that since I moved from England in the seventies I got a real culture shock as from coming from a country that mainly had their dogs inside with them as it got so very cold in winter, over here.... a lot more lived outside and and sometimes because of that were not so much an integral part of our lives..... but now as our country has evolved our pets are part of our family and take part in all aspects of our lives as much as they are allowed to. I have thought about this at length and maybe there you could give consideration to this idea.....we need a licence to drive a vehicle to prove we are capable of driving on the road why not extend that to responsible pet ownership. We have to pay for a licence to keep a dog but anyone can do that ....what about taking it further and have to pass a test to prove that we can take care of our best friends. It could consist of proving that we know what we are doing in training ,feeding, accommodating and being a responsible pet owner it would only need to be done say once every 10 yrs or so for that we should be issued with a licence that could be used to open up venues that then would allow us to take our dogs to more places that otherwise would be closed to them, also to take it further ......every time we get another dog we have to prove prove that our dogs are social creatures and are safe in all company. If something along these lines was introduced just imagine...........so many problems would be solved as the far reaching effects would be enormous. IN AN IDEAL WORLD........JMO -
I read in the Herald Sun today that there is a call for more places to be dog friendly....it was great to see at last the media is listening to the mostly silent majority. So many pet owners are taking their dogs on holiday with them but if you look at the paltry amount of off leash beaches that are available it is a disgrace. More and more pet friendly accommodation are opening up yet what is the use if there is no leash free areas to take them so they can really streatch out sometimes. These beautiful creatures have stood by our side since time begun evolving with us,being our protector, our guide, giving us unconditional love and this is how they are treated. I truly believe this is one area that needs to be addressed and time the Councils woke up to the fact that 99% of all dog owners are very responsible and would always do the right thing. I would love to know how other members felt about this.

Thank you so much guys for your replies ......hoping to get a place within walking distance to the beach but don't care about views ,the main thing is that it has a good size block of land. up to an acre maybe. I have got to get used to having next door neighbors as used to be into breeding and Training T.Bred horses and so always had own space on our small farm. Last April rented a dog friendly house for a week at Callala Beach NSW in the Jervis Bay area it was great but all of the beaches were only leash free before 9am and after 7pm. You know we are one of the biggest owners of dogs in the world yet there is hardly any designated areas per ca pita that our beloved pets can run free..... I believe if enough of us dog lovers got together to put pressure on the councils that could change....... its just a matter of doing it. Yup easy I ' for one get so much pleasure from my dogs and I do realise that some idiots can ruin it for others but there are ways round that surely its just a matter of proving we are responsible for our dogs and maybe have a way to prove that and be issued with a licence......just a thought. -
Hi I need your help ....we hope to sell up retire and buy a home near a beach somewhere in Aus.I have three dogs two Goldens and a Clumber which we adore.
