Just rug up and drug up. :)

Lovely to see you posting here Bob - but not under these circumstances. My condolences on the loss of Bonnie.

On the positive side, the forecast has crept into double digits since this morning. A balmy 10 degrees  AND I may commence my cupcake experiments this weekend :)
-
Shite. That's big for around here!!!
-
I'm asking. What's in the Hound group please?
-
Just remember the bigger they are, the colder they are. Big kennels are good for multiple dogs but you don't necessarily do your dog a favour building a big open kennel.
-
I appreciate your suggestions but I am not a clueless dog owner, like many who appear on this forum. He is seen by my friend weekly, who is a qualified vet nurse [not an actual vet I know] and I am in contact with his breeder and his sires breeder. I also never said he won't be coated, I just said that he chewed his other coat and needs to be fixed up or a new one purchased. Probably a new coat seeing as there are some sales on at the moment. Now back to the tread topic of Black Hawk Holistic :) Personally I'd be investing in an insulated kennel. It could remove the need for coating all together. A crate will never retain any kind of body heat. You may also wish to consider switching to BH Junior or another kibble with a higher fat content.

Conformation Photos Needed- Any Breed
Salukifan replied to Cosmolo's topic in General Dog Discussion
Does it have to be photos or will diagrams suffice? -
Right up there with the unsolicited critique of your dog by someone with NFI what they are talking about LOL
-
I am paranoid but can they just put that on their website and it not be true? I seriously doubt they'd get away with it if it wasn't.
-
I never really liked the taste myself.

Multiple dogs in multiple classes in one breed and only one show lead. Seems to be a Group 1 issue A very long walk to the loos or the coffee van.
-
Yes please on the message but it's only curiosity on my part. Some breeds do seem prone to Dermo after vaccinations so this may be playing a part. When and what has your pup been vaccinated with?
-
Just out of interest what breed/ colour is the pup? Is it on Main Register? If bought as a serious show/breeding prospect, your husband is right. Return it. If you are happy that this pup be a pet only then the prospects of a trouble free future are a lot brighter.

Mastiffs... Torn Between Two Breeds

If minimising drool is a factor, I'd go Bull Mastiff over Dogue. -
What Silly Things Is Your Dog/dogs Scared Of?
Salukifan replied to mantis's topic in General Dog Discussion
Howard the Whippet is deeply suspicious of ceiling fans. -
So basically the entire discussion just had here has been an utter waste of time because this basically is the diet you said Missy threw up. Where's the calcium/phosphorus balance in this???? Kerist but you are frustrating. Did you READ what I said about flaxseed oil? Seriously feed whatever the hell you want but save us the trouble of discussing nutrition with you and stop bloody asking for advice you simply NEVER take.
-
Who/where is "it" And your point is?? Seriously, this is starting to be like the tale of the two men and the donkey. Show me an opinion about some aspect of canine nutrition and I won't have to look too far to find another view. The best test of what food to feed your dog is sitting right in front of you. Provided you are feeding a balanced diet, give the dog what she likes. You're making this far harder than it has to be. Again.
-
I think I already gave my recommendation. A lot of sighthound folk feed RC. Other popular choices are Advance and Pro Plan Try them until you find one she likes. Then stop.
-
Well one benefit for your dog might be that she'd like it. RC send out samples - email them and you'll get a few meal sized bags. I know there's a lot of hullabaloo about grains but unless your dog is sensitive to them, feeding grain is OK as far as I'm concerned. Just don't feed kibbles where grain is the main ingredient. It was cereal millers who invented dog kibble as a way of using milling byproduct. The better dog food manufacturers do a fair bit of research and there are some good products around.
-
No such thing I'm afraid. Maybe Woofa was just big for the breed.
-
So was I. Then along came Howard - who refused point blank to eat my BARF mix - no matter what I did. So now they all get RMBs and kibble. And they're doing just fine. :) Dogs don't give a toss about our feeding philosophies. But they do know what they like.
-
For my dogs? Yes. I tried the fancy schmancy grain frees and MY DOG DIDN"T LIKE THEM. That alone makes them a poor choice. Where's the nutritional advantage potatoes give over grains?? I look forward to your explanation. You've been asked 3 times for it. At least there is MEAT in RC. Not just meal. First three ingredients in that food are meal and potatoes. And for that you pay through the nose. And you know what? I know 10's of sighthound breeders and owners who successfully raise their dogs on RC. That matters to me. Frankly MTS, you have no idea what you're doing and you're being seduced by a few poorly researched assertions about what's good for dogs and what's not. In the meantime you've got a dog that doesn't eat well when mine would knock the bowl out of my hand if I let them. With your track record on raising dogs, I don't think you're in any position to take the high ground about what you feed. But if you do, then for God's sake stop starting thread after thread looking for the miracle food to feed your dogs. There ISN"T one.

So you're experimenting on a growing pup with no real science behind what you're doing? Do you really think that's a good idea? Did you know, for example, that you shouldn't feed only flaxseed oil? You need to rotate it with other oils or feed a blend. For pity's sake if you want to be a raw feeder then buy some books and learn what the hell you're doing. God knows, you were advised here by one of the most experienced and knowledgeable raw feeders in the country and you've ignored her advice. What was 'wrong' with Missy's diet when you got her? Are you saying the breeder raised her on something she wasn't doing well on? If you want to experiment then do it on your adult dogs and grow your pup on a balanced commercial diet. Still waiting for your take on why potatoes are better for a dog than grains by the way.
