From where I sit blaming pounds for killng dogs is like blaming emergency services for fires and floods. Why blame the people dealing with the problem. They're not responsible for creating it, just dealing with it. Pounds and shelters deal with dogs unwanted by the public. Address the reasons why dogs aren't wanted by the public and maybe, just maybe we'll get somewhere.

If the behaviour WAS separation anxiety, an aversive collar would not be recommended. No chance you can use baby gates to partition the house off? Remember that barking inside will be much easier on the neighbours ears. How many hours a day is your dog alone? By alone I mean not physically sharing company with you? Is he an outside dog all the time?

Does he have access inside?

Natural Rearing Border Collie Breeder?

Parvo in very young pups can leave life long issues also. Failure to worm dogs and living in a rural environment brings its own risks too - anyone fancy a hydatids tapeworm cyst? An unwormed dog in a sheep or kangaroo area is a risk to every human it comes into contact with. -
Wobbly: Except that all rescuers DON'T share. Some have their halos so tightly bolted to their skulls that they sweep their problems under the rug, refusing to accept responsibility for bad placements or blaming owners when dogs display issues in their new homes. And those rescuers have been here, in this forum over the years and have adopted a stance of plausible deniability when anything goes wrong. Sometimes, they'll take a dog back from a home, and rehome it again despite very serious behavioural issues, like biting. In a small community, trainers and dog folk get to know where the bodies are buried, even if the rescuers are less than open about their 'mistakes'. And some very high profile rescues genuinely don't seem give a toss and refuse to listen to anyone who doesn't agree with their take on the process. You get smashed by the pro-rescue brigade for even suggesting that some dogs aren't going to be suitable for rehoming to most folk. Bouncing through homes, breaking family hearts does neither the dog nor the reputation of rescue any good at all. The sooner all rescuers focus as much on finding good dogs for families willing to take on a rescue as much as they do on getting dogs out of pounds, the better rescue will work for everyone involved. Lovely dogs die for lack of homes every day. Why warehouse 'troublesome' dogs and let the good dogs die???

Is he advertised in the mature dogs available here??

8 weeks for me but I've also had pups at 11 weeks without issue. What matter is that they get some decent socialisation in the early weeks. It matters less whether your or the pup's breeder does it.

Natural Rearing Border Collie Breeder?

I think most folk who've never seen a distemper or a parvo case would say that. I think there's room between no vaccinations EVER and vaccinating annually. I cannot think of any responsible breeder who'd sell you an unvaccinated pup and if you or your dogs ever leave your property or you have visitors then I'd suggest juvenile vaccination is something to consider. There's good luck when it comes to avoiding diseases like parvo and there's good management. "No toxins" is a good idea but I think it bears rethinking. You will not be permitted to train your dog at any obedience club and you'd be nuts to try to socialise your pup AT ALL off your property with no vaccinations. And as for "no toxins" - I guess this means no anaesthesia and no pain killers either? No tick serum if your dog is unlucky to have one and no antibiotics? -

Each and every one a holiday area where people who aren't used to dealing with ticks bring their dogs. Case in point. However I sure hope he's going to use tick prevention. Pity Proban is no longer on the market. As an occasional use preventative for situations like holidays, I thought it was ideal.

I think the issue is in the wording rather than adding another dog to your home. Dogs don't feed, raise or train each other (or not to human ideals of those concepts anyway) Whilst they are social creatures who do best in packs, dogs need more than just another dog's company. They need exercise, stimulation and interactions with their owners. I suppose "getting a dog for your dog" in those terms suggests to me that folk might it solves the problem of how to meet your existing dog's needs. And it doesn't.

Bullshit. Your pup was overwhelmed. He reacted entirely appropriately to being put in a fearful situation. If he displays that degree of discomfort, remove him or remove the pup that's overwhelming him. The trainer should know better than to rattle off Cesar Milan style crap to owners of 10 week old pups. What Teddy needs is to feel safe and secure (agree there) but not to be placed in situations where he is overwhelmed. Keep him with the smaller/quieter pups until he grows in confidence and my guess is that he'll be having fun in no time. He may never be the most outgoing pup in the room but frankly, does it matter? Seriously, people who sprout this kind of rubbish shouldn't be allowed to run puppy schools. :

Don't know if this one has been posted before: UQ report on studies into impact of early desexing on puppies and kittens

He has the steepest croup I've EVER seen on a dog and very little rear angulation. He certainly doesn't walk very normally, poor thing. Looks like two parts of two different dogs sandwiched together in the middle. His legs are far longer than is proportionate to his body - that's what made me think he may have been desexed very young. I'm sure the Great Dane folk shudder every time one comes up as "World's Tallest Dog".

Brandy. Valium.

I woudl have to describe that dog as a structural disaster area.. poor thing is very poorly put together. I wonder if he was desexed very young....

What sort of temperament are you looking for in a dog? What level of trainability? What sort of energy level? How much exercise and training will you give to a dog?

Agree on the visit to the vet. If he has digestive issues, I'd not be feeding him at all. If he has something impacted in his bowel, then more food is not what he needs. It is possible for some faeces to pass around an impaction in liquid form but more food might be risky. -
