I think most folk use modified bikes don't they? I'd stay off tar - hard on legs and very hard on falls.

Did someone say Whippet sledding? Sessy and I would go well, until we came across a stray cat, rabbit or hare. Recall may not work at that speed  Cnrs might be a tad tricky too.

You can get black and white partis and roans in Whippet (check out the colours in the genetics link I sent you) but they aren't all that common. I quite like solid whites but they are also uncommon and it's hard to get a good one. Here's a nice one though. Also, every ding they get is very obvious - marks on whippets are pretty common due to their thin skins. You also get unusual markings like clown faces in Whippets.

Thanks! Dodger would agree. He thinks he's pretty special.

What colour is Dodger and what do you think he'd produce? Do whippets carry colour genes like horses do? This is Dodger now. He is a solid blue fawn. His mum is blue fawn and his dad is blue brindle. Whippet colour genetics is fascinating. Here's a really good website i have no idea what he'll produce. There is colour behind him but also a lot of solids. To a highly marked bitch? I'd expect some colour. Friend of mine recently did a solid fawn to coloured mating and got some solids (fawn and red brindle) and some brindle partis. Another got mostly solid brindles.

Not a Whippet but what the hell - the biggest sighthound.... clearly intimidated by the 15 year old Miniature Poodle behind him .... Yes, the poodle's jaw IS dropping  The Whippets must have been hiding inside.

Only everyone that deserves one! Can't keep your temper? Don't want a dog inside? Can't train a dog that doesn't hang off your every word? Pick another breed.

I slept my last two pups in a crate at night and stopped that when they were toilet trained. I never locked them up during the day.

Is that THE Flick??? Wow! All grown up! Yep, the very same. Dodger loves playing with her but she really only has eyes for Howie.

If I was ever to upsize it would be to to a Deerhound or a Borzoi. There IS timidity in sight hounds but I refute any suggestion that its common. Frankly I think that observation tends to stem from ignorance created by comparisons with other breeds by people who don't know them well and an assumption that greyhounds raised in racing kennels are a good indicator of temperament in a range of breeds developed for a range of purposes some of which included guarding.

Poor deerhound puppy, I think it's choking on that whippet. Why haven't you posted these photos before. Most end up on FB.. And you know, when you have showdogs with a common temperament fault like shyness, you really don't want to draw attention to it. But now the cat's out of the bag - one more of that bashful Deerhound baby with Dodger. Those photos were taken the first time they'd met.

Timid Whippet being attacked by extremely shy 14 week old Deerhound. They were almost the same size - not any more!

 run away! run away! I have to say if I was Dodger I'd be running for my life from Flick. She uses him as her very own Vizsla chew toy Poor Dodge, he loves playing with the big sighthound babies. A few months later they see him and rush towards him to continue the game and they tower over him. Still, he's now personal trainer for a Borzoi girl. Will have to get some pics of that!
