  1. Most definitely!!! Preferably. There are different "types" in my breed. Again what Wynnlake has said: The bitch has to compliment the dog, be health tested, no doubling up on faults, and the temperament is excellent. I have been asked to allow my dog out because of the colour he carries, not because they like the dog/lines. Breeding is not for just the colour you get and the extra money some unscrupulous breeders charge. I also have to feel the breeder will do the right thing by the breed. There are so many unscrupulous "breeders" in my breed. For them it is automatic NO! The bitch has to be quality. I accept that not everyone starts off with the best quality there is. Again. The bitch's owner needs to be able to list their dogs faults and strengths. And also be able to list what they think the strong points and faults are in the dog. No. My bitch has not been titled when I have bred. If the bitch is quality, and the bitch owner can put forward a "good argument" for why they are breeding, then I will consider it. (not just because the kids can see the miracle of life etc)
  2. I would refund the deposit and find a better home.
  3. I would contact those doing the study here and in the US. They maybe able to offer some opinions.
  4. If you go to a dog show to see breeders. The best time is after they have gone into the ring and are waiting for general specials to be judged after the last breed in their class. Before exhibitors go into the ring, is a busy time grooming.
  5. Yeah I figured that when I attached it. Not something I thought of when I bought the ducting from Tony Powell. I thought of the heating requirement part. I managed to get some express post from Clipper World in Melbourne. Hopefully it will get here tomorrow.
  6. I have just recently upgraded my SD1000 to a heated model (with the thanks of my electrician father). I know I can buy replacement hoses from Oldfield and other major pet grooming supplies. I bought a thermopastic hose yesterday, well, lets just say it has a lovely voice to it from the air rushing through it. $100 down the drain It does work, but both myself and the dog will need to wear ear muffs. Need a new hose ASAP and I will not be able to get one up from any of the general grooming suppliers in time. (IE: before weekend) Can anyone tell me what the hose is to take the heater? The hose that came with the SD1000 is not suitable for the heated version. I know it looks like vacuum cleaner hose or hose similar to that used in pools. Does anyone know what it is called to go to any of the hose people here in Brisbane?
  7. I have used it. My vet gave me the possible side effects and what may happen if I did go through with it (which I did). I did not have the bitch go straight back into season, however she did cycle earlier next time. Progesterone test. If you are still worried, when I used it, I waited until 28 days then used the drug. You have up to 45 days to abort. Obviously earlier the better. I waited till 28 days, ultrasounded, confirmed pregnant and then used alizin. In my case the dog got to her on day 21. At least this way, you may run a chance of not needing it. Especially if the progesterone test is positive. I also believe one of the side effects can be it harder for her to fall pregnant for a number of season after using it. Similar to a female on the pill for a long time..
  8. Also Try Wooloowin Vet Hospital cnr Rose and Kent Streets. They do digital xrays for about $220
  9. Thanks Steve. Was a great weekend and thankyou for you comments re Blue. Thankfully no photos were taken of me... YAAAAAAAY
  10. Mia - Turd Faith - Ferral Blue - Boo Boo (as he was a boo boo keeping at times - useless lump) Pepe - Monster. And. They all get called those names in public.. Much to the shock of their owners.
  11. Poodlefan. Yeah. I have met some dogs through my grooming business who have not read the advertising blurb too. Gotta shove Heartgard down the hatch. My guys can take either. They are so used to being drugged every second day with Proban, they are used to tablets. I use sentinel only cause it is cheaper than buying heartwormers and allwormers separately.
  12. Have a look at priceless pets www.pricelesspets.com.au He is probably got the best prices around. I personally do not trust nor like the idea of top spots for worming. But then if you are continually having gut issues, then that may be the way to go too. For me, I prefer my wormers to go down the hatch.. I know it is done. The dog can go swimming else, and I have no fear of it washing off, the double coat soaking up the product or any other contingency that typically reduces the effectiveness of top spots.
  13. The chew tablets are flavoured and are of a product to make the dog WANT to eat it. Rather than make the owner force tablets down the throat. Heartgard and Inteceptor are different active ingredients. Heartgard is Ivemectin and Sentinel is milbemycin oxime for heart worm and praziquantel for all worm. (To correct my earlier post) This is the link for Sentinel: http://www.pets.novartis.com.au/site/produ...interceptor.php Given Heartgard and Sentinel are different products, I would first say, it could be the all worming portion, as all wormers can be known for causing gut issues. But as Heartgard does not contain all wormers, my second thought (through logical thinking) could be what ever is used to make the tablet flavoursome. I know for humans, quite often people react to the coating on the tablet. The gel caps contain things to some people causing allergy like symptoms. Hence my thought on it possibly being the flavour part of the product. Unfortunately there are not many alternatives. The only other one is previously mentioned: Proheart is moxidectin based, and is also a tablet. I would also refrain from using the 6 month or 12 month SR12 injections. I have heard with some collies it is been fatal.
  14. Thought with the chew style ones.. Could it be the chew part of it rather than the active ingredient?
  15. I agree with the others. The treatment for Mange can also affect the dog if it is on certain flea/heartworm products. It can effectively cause an overdose. Tell them to see the vet.
  16. Stitch. Try Sentinel Interceptor. It does all worms (including tape) and heart worm. A chew tablet once a month. Sentinel Spectrum also does fleas. (Although I have had not a lot success treating fleas with this product). I have collies and it is safe. ETA: It is same ingredient as used in Proheart (which I used to use). Combined with the all worm, it works out cheaper than buying Proheart and Paratak Plus for worms.
  17. Interesting.. Was talking to a vet on the weekend at the Pet Rescue day. They are seeing an increases in HD, luxating patellas, Skin problems, cavoodles with heart and brain issues.. to name a few. Wonder why???? She said, the owners eyes opened up when explained if the parents of each breed of their DD carry those issues.. it can still happen in the offspring.. DD's are not necessarily healthier than their pedigree cousins.
  18. Wags. Do you work for Dogs Queensland or something? Sounds like a marketing press release. What we are saying, is how can it be good when (CCC registered) puppy farmers are on there?? Currently there is a breeder who is having her 6th litter from one bitch. Three times mated to a Choc Merle (which is not in Australia's breed standard). All puppies from those litters are registered as Chocolate/White despite some being Choc Merle. Again flaunting breed standards in favour for the mighty dollar. Other breeders advertising on their websites all the fabulous colours their dogs produce. Half NOT in Australia's breed standard. If this scheme is so great.... how can these people be "accredited"??? They are not abiding by the existing CCC rules for 4 litters and abiding by their breed standards. This is just one example. There are other breeders doing cosmetic surgery on their dogs to assist them to win. Breeding with dogs with unacceptable hip scores and other health issues. As I said in my previous post.. The idea is great. The implementation is FLAWED.
  19. I think the idea of the accreditation scheme has merit, I think if better worked, it would be worth the while. The format it is in now is flawed. It is too easy for those who aren't ethical to become accredited. Unfortunately I do believe there are those who have become accredited that aren't ethical. There are those breeders who do have winning dogs and fancy websites who are doing the wrong thing. "Ethical" is how you present yourself to the world and how good you are at hiding your not so ethical actions. I am sure many on this list can think of a few breeders who are "Very successful" and know of some things done to be successful. Some maybe rumour some maybe truth. The CCC need to review their COE for EVERYONE. Suspend those who are doing the wrong thing. Take a damn stand against the wrong doers.. That will go further than a warped and flawed accreditation scheme that needs to be reworked so those who really want to go onto it can hold their heads up high.
  20. No No No!!!!! Get a canopy. A dedicated Dog box or some other method to SECURE the dog in the vehicle - SAFELY!
  21. Really... Who really cares where each puppy came from when it comes to temperament and right puppy. We all would like to think that only registered breeders breed quality well adjusted puppies. Many do. There are those who do not give a damn other than for the $$ they get back. They may be "registered" but that does not make them ethical. The pet shop puppy, may on slim chances come from a BYB who sells their pups to the pet shop rather than an entrepreneur money hungry enterprise. And maybe, just maybe, the breed bred by that evil puppy farm, where the last puppy came from, was a breed that is pretty tolerant of most things and the chances of having a bad temperamental puppy is slim. ETA: Note my sarcasm. There is a reason I only ever watched one episode of that show.. It is crap and all about ratings and what story gets the most OMG!!!
  22. There was something similar on Kerry Ann this morning. I missed half of it, but it was also about a puppy farm.
