In 2013 I put an order in for 4 secura pens & bases..... What a run around!! It took months & months for the order to be filled... Then they forgot one???????? OMG it was an endless effort on my part contacting them constantly for what I had paid for.... Never again!!! shame as it was a good business..

I had just ordered the whole box n dice for one of mine from ASAP. $135 for a complete breed profile (DNA Profile, CEA, CL, TNS, MDR1, Long coat, Colour). You will need to supply at least two (maybe three) sets of swabs (2 swabs/packet) as ASAP need to send out for the some of the tests. The return email stated a return of 14-21 days. Ok for me as there is no rush and it is then all done. If you were needing the tests done more urgently, then you would maybe better off sending swaps to the individual labs offering the TNS (Uni NSW) and GTG for CEA, CL. That sounds great can you let us know how you go Mystiqview

Pennhip's Views On 'preventative' Hip Surgery
dannyBC replied to espinay2's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My biggest concern with PennHip is there isn't enough research on all breeds to show that laxity actually causes all breeds the same risk level of developing issues....... I have dogs with high Pennhip scores & low-ish AVA scores that are now over 8yrs ++ & are just fine...... I too have had Vet Pennhip score puppies & then scare the hell out of them... Grrrrr more research needed... -
Strange that my two BC's do so well on it. The girl is 19 kilos & the young boy is 23 kilos & VERY active. They get a cup full each a day plus 100g of meat or tinned fish & in the mornings they get 1/2 a turkey neck & if anything, I have to keep a watch that they don't put weight on. I am very happy the way my two are going on BH....here is a picture of my girl with her stash from last weekends agility trial :) & their poos are a real delight to pick up & only twice a day & hardly any smell why do you think it's strange? Not all dogs do well on the same food. You're not even feeding straight BH but a mixture of raw and dry. Unless you are only feeding straight BH I don't think anyone can claim that it is BH doing the good or bad things people are saying. Thats very true hence why I feed only one type of Dry food & no extras... Only way to know whats happening... I would also hope that the dry food I feed is balanced... & by adding extras now potentially unbalances the diet. But I prepared to make the 2mths then make a decision. Otherwise I'll be looking for another brand.

Yeah its a real bugger... My dogs are very very fit & do Agility among other stuff.. They do 10km a day plus training & general running around on the property. My Male has been on 1 & 3/4 cup of Euk for 4years with no drama's, within 2wks of switching to BH he had lost 1kg.... He's now on 3 & 1/2cups of BH & he still hasn't regained all his weight. The girls are the same just not quiet as dramatic as him... I'm prepared to keep them on it for 2mths so I can be really sure one way or another... But at this stage I think they'll have to change back! I hope a higher calorie variety becomes available at some stage.

Gee there are so many great books... I do like Gene Donaldson & Karen Pryors books.. I have also just been given Wonderdogs Tricks & Training to read, Its a great Aussie book with lots of good stuff & easy to read. Good luck

I just wish there was a working dog formula..... My Border Collies can't maintain on BH.. They are normally fed Eukanuba Premium performance & when I tried BH over 2mths, I had to double the intake for 3 of them & the rest about 1/2 increase. Then their poo's were a bit smelly & softer than I'd like.

What Dry Food Would You Recommend?
dannyBC replied to rusty&biscuit's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I was really hoping Black Hawk was going to work as I liked the sound of it.... I've had 4 BC's on it for over a month & they have all lost weight!! They were on Eukanuba & all dogs are very fit & lean... So a weight lose isn't good. My big male was 19.6kg & went to 18.9 in 2wks... So he's now on 3cups of Blackhawk compared to 1 3/4cup of Euk. I'm prepared to keep them on it for 2mths then make a descision... But its not looking like the BlackHawk has enough calorie content for my dogs. Also their poo now smells & is a little soft. I was so hoping to use an Oz brand... Bugger.... -
They didn't get sent for scoring, no point as a score isn't going to be useful information.. We sent them to an orthopedic specialist for comment & recommendation.. He made comment that lots of dogs won't show signs till late with the elbows.... The hips are 50% subluxated in the extended view..... If we had of continued on to do the Pennhip distraction view, they would have been 100% subluxated. I'm hopeful his hips might not cause him too many issues... But his elbows will
