  1. Hi Bellacks :) I got my cav a month ago & still haven't received her papers. The breeder did tell me that they may take a while to come through as DogsNSW (I think it is) close down over the xmas/new year period & they are a fairly slow with the paperwork. If I don't have them by the beginning of Feb I'll chase it up with the breeder but I'm not bothered about it yet. I know sometimes these things take time How long ago did you get your pup? My Lucy is a blenheim too :) ETA - Actually is was 5 weeks on Thursday that I got her! Time flies!!
  2. I have a 14 week old Cav. Last night she was laying next to me on the couch & I smelled something really quite strange. I thought maybe she was due for a bath but then noticed it was coming from inside of her ear (her ear was flicked backed) I had a look inside & its a little dirty... nothing major but had a really strong odour. The other one was the same as well, but I can't smell it when her ears are down (unless I flick it back & stick my nose in) I'm not in the habit of sniffing the inside of other dogs ears to check so just wondering if this is normal or if a trip to the vet is on the cards?
  3. I don't think it matters as long as its consistent. Our trainer at puppy preschool reccomend writing a list of words & what they are used for & putting it on the fridge for all to see. I use 'drop' for down & 'give' for her to drop a ball/toy. Unfortunately my OH is harder to train than the puppy..he keeps saying down to lay down & drop for the ball/toy. He also tells her to sit, sit, sit, sit instead of saying it once & waiting Fortunately he doesn't do the main training its really when he's playing with her.
  4. Thats terrible.. how scary for you. I hope your dog is ok
  5. I think that as dog owners we just need to use common sense & do what works best for our dogs and ourselves. I don't think anything that you listed is a fad.. just tried and tested methods.
  6. OMG!! That is just terrible! I personally would phone the practice manager to complain & also ask for a refund & then put it all in writing. We goto puppy preschool at the RSPCA & although I've only been to one session I couldn't fault it. All the dogs were on leads & she said that next week they can come off to play with similar size dogs in a sectioned off area with the owners in there as well.
  7. I take my 10wo puppy out about every half hour I watch her like I hawk & as soon as i see her nose hit the floor out she goes!
  8. OMG! These are all soo cute! There's no way I'd get a shot of my pup with anything on her when she's awake! haha! I'll have to stick a hat on her when she's asleep!
  9. Thanks Megan Christina thank you too.. You're right I'll stick with the plan & do what I think is best which is what I've outlined Sorry jeebee for hijacking your thread!
  10. Can I add another question as well - I'm new to crates too Just wondering what's preferable to do when leaving the puppy/dog for long periods of time. Next year when I'm at work & the kids are back at school I'll have to leave the pup for around 7 hours. I'm thinking that its too long to crate her for... I was intending on putting her in the laundry with the crate foor open & from there have a doggy door where she will have access to a sectioned off area outside. Does this sound ok?

    Worms/fleas

Thanks everyone I've got an appointment with the vet on Thursday so I will go through the worming & mention her scooting then She's a Cavalier King Charles so not really fluffy. I ended up going back to City Farmers & showing them the collar. The manager said that he'd not seen anything like it before on those collars so he gave me my money back & I got her a little leather one instead which will hopefully be better! Riverstar this is for you

    Worms/fleas

She's had drontal puppy suspension at 2 4 6 & 8 weeks due again next week. Good to know that it might not be worms :D I'm actually going to take this collar back.. the pink fabric on it is literally in shreds but the material that the collar is made out of is fine..if that makes sense I was only saying to OH last night that I should take her to the vet for the new puppy check so will get that organised for this afternoon if I can get in otherwise next week

    Worms/fleas

We've had Lucy now for 2 nights & she's settling in really well. I have a couple of concerns though.. She is scratching alot around her neck At first I thought it was her collar annoying her but when I took it off she's still itching like crazy I think she might have fleas? Ay advise in what's best to give her for it? She 9 weeks old I've got to get her a new collar today.. After wearing it for one day she's ripped it to shreds! She's also wiping her bum alot on the grass My husband think she may have worms She not due for her next lot of drontal puppy suspension until next week Shall I give it to her early? Any advise will be most appreciated
  14. Lucy has arrived!! I am sooo in love. She was fine when we picked her up from the airport. Was sooo excited to see us. Had a big play outside & then came & settled down for a sleep. She's awake now so I'm off to play Here's some pics.. sorry for the size I don't have time to resize them! Enjoy!
  15. Picking up my little girl this afternoon! Can't wait Had a couple of wines last night to help me sleep I was like a kid the night before Xmas!!
  16. I'd be worried.. maybe they've gone away though?
  17. OOh little Onyx is soo sweet! :D 2 more sleeps for me I don't get her until Thursday afternoon so resisting the urge to put the crate & set his bed up & bring out her toys until Thursday morning!
  18. I'm a cat lover first.. dog lover second I tend to only like certain breeds of dogs but I love all cats Mine is 15 this year & has been such a good companion He's more dog like than cat Sadly he's on his last legs though, I will so miss him when he passes
  19. Nawww.. great pics Talien!! 4 more sleeps for me!
  20. I think its just common courtesy to ask the owner if you can pat their puppy/dog & kinda think its irresponsible of parents to let their children just run up & pat without checking first. I was always raised never to touch 'strange' dogs without checking with the owner first & I instil this in my own children.
