  1. Update on the quarantine it doesnt go through customs but australia post... so I need to call them to see if they would allow it through..... I assume they are not as anal about packaged items coming through :S but will find out today. - So I called Australia post any dry food up to 2kg is fine and wet food upto 10kg.
  2. Makes you wonder why there has not been nation wide education about dogs, behaviour of dogs and what to do when you see a dog whom is showing signs of aggression. Instead of all this shocking publicity how about they start educating some dumbos about correct procedure.... Owell atleast you have done the right thing.... im sure your pup will be fine...just start socializing around some "normal" dogs hahah
  3. Tell me about it.... like jesus.. if you do not have 100% control over your dog it should not be off leash FULL STOP!.
  4. Its worse when you have a APBT because everyone is quick to judge your dog the one as causing trouble.... a few months ago OH, myself and Nala were at a dog park.... Nala is always on a leash when other dogs are around because this senario has happened way too often....a staffy came running up to us and I knew that this was not going to be a friendly greeting...he went straight to mount her and nala shook him off and gave a little warning to back up... then he started biting her ankles, mean while the owner is casually walking our direction till I yelled out COME GRAB YOUR FREAKING DOG!!! then she shifted to a light jog... in that time OH has to physically separate this dog off Nala and the staffy bit him..as a reaction he gave the dog a kick to the stomach to get him off, once the owner saw that she RAN!! and started yelling at us not to kick her dog... then says we shouldnt be walking that kind of dog in public...that blew my mind away.. so I said excuse me but your dog just bit my partner and attacked our dog.. you dont see us making a big deal about it.. just keep your dog on a lead if you cant control it....she then had a look of horror on her face and asked us to prove where the dog had bitten him... we showed her 2 puncture marks with blood pouring out of them... and she said oh my dog didnt do that it must have been your dog......even though Nala the whole time had not showed one sign of agression.... its amazing how quick people are to blame a dog but never watch their own!!.... since then I have also HATED!!dogs off lead... it makes me so so nervious.
  5. Hahahah yep it was in the morning and they were just finishing up their zoomies for that hour.... Nala and Gus will preform zoomies for most of the day!! and heaven forbid they see a human or a leash.. it will continue for a good 15 minutes... but they loved it hahah and I loved it. BC Crazy - I know!!! hahah he is growing so fast it puts a tear to my eye hahah... so i shoved the costume on his as soon as it arrived!! lol
  6. I understand this is very embarrassing but!, Gus will only be a puppy once and I will not be able to restrain him for ridiculous photos for much longer so enjoy haha
  7. I missed lastnights show... and was going to go to this mornings show but slept through my alarm and then the car decided not to work!! gaaaah just my luck!, How was it... what about todays show?? what time was the non sporting?
  8. At the Northern end of Luddenham Rd, close to Mamre Rd. cheers, i got in touch with my breeder yesterday ill be going to the sunday show apparently there will be more dallys there
  9. Hahah this reminds me of the time the media put up a picture of a BT and called it an APBT... i was like .... People will phycially jump off the pathway and onto the road when they see Nala(APBT) coming.... its really, really sad because she is the most beautiful dog I have ever met...my OH gets very hurt by it... imagine if people started almost running the oposite direction if they saw your lab.. and all because Media gave it a bad name? I can understant your situation since you have had a traumatic experience and I find it great your trying to over come your fears
  10. Its terrible when they get something like this.. because it could potentially be nothing, or it can turn and be something major. I hope she is better today
  11. I will think about bringing him but I am definatly comming wooohooo pretty excited hahah. He is such a well mannered pup!! whenever we go for walks and he meets a by passing dog he is so gentle the way he approches them... doesnt jump all over them, I dont think he will be toooo much of a handful but we will see hahah. Great, thanks for much for the info everyone...
  12. Aaaa thanks that clears up alot!!... Also (my mistake) his 15 weeks old.. am I too late? do you need to start from 3 months or can you show at any age? No you can start them at any age. If you are in Sydney the big Christmas show is on this Saturday evening 5pm at Erskine Park with 1300 dogs entered. If you are available come along and have a look at what happens at a show. Oh, Santa only arrives by dog sled at this one show a year :D but other than that and all the kids entertainment it is a normal show. Omg thats awesome!! im in Gladesville so Erskin Park is a little closer.... Can I bring the dogs??....andd Nala is an APBT a very very well behaved one who we say she is shar pei, vizsla and staffy mix :S hahah but do you think it would be wiser to keep her at home? just because of wondering councils and some people who think all pitbulls have lock jaw and are baby killers "sad face"
  13. Ow awesome thats 1.27 hours away from me!! what time does it start? and is it all weekend or just one day?
  14. Aaaa thanks that clears up alot!!... Also (my mistake) his 15 weeks old.. am I too late? do you need to start from 3 months or can you show at any age?
  15. Whoops! Just realized you're in NSW... Hahah yeap im in NSW, his papers were blue - I will look at them when I get home properly Sparkytansy - he is a Dally, the breeder did not keep him because the Dalmatian I was allocated turned out to be deaf and this breeder is a memeber of NSW dalmatian club, all other pups had been picked up baring 2... one he wanted to breed from and the other was for a couple coming from qld, he said I could have the pup providing I let him breed from him when the time was right and I agreed to that, I have no issue with that and so thats how I ended up with Gus... I think the breeder felt confident that I was the right person for the pup.. I had been hassling him every day since the pups were born haha asking questions and getting excited....
  16. Thanks... Well Its a little hard to get a response from the breeder so Im not sure they are the best option... whats main register papers??... I did get some papers for him in the mail the other day but I think they were just transfer of ownership. The story with Gus is the breeder wanted him for himself but long story short I ended up with him and I wouldnt change a thing... before I took him home the breeder did say they wanted to show him and did not want me to desex him (because they will be using him in the future for breeding) which is all fine by me but I have not heard back from the breeder in relation to showing or anything like that... I have asked a few times but havent really got a response so I dont want to be annoying. I actually think Gus has to much spotting for showing but thats why I wanted to know the rules on conformation and showing.... and what do you do when you show a dog
  17. This may be a very stupid question but..... I may want to show Gus... he was sold as a show dog and I think I want to show him and see how he goes (I have never had experience in this area I have only ever had "pet" dogs), but I have a question about conformation, what exactly is it and how do you know if your dog has good conformation?? I know its important I just dont know why and would like someone to tell me haha
  18. On the flip side, I'd be worried about annoying the breeder by asking too many questions, and have her regret selling me a pup. I agree... I was always asking my breeder questions and it got to a point where i wasnt getting a response for about 3-4 days.... which was a little stressful for myself.. 1 the breeder was very busy.. 2. im sure they get quite sick of answering the same questions.. they do sell an average of 9 pups per littler thats alot of people emailing questions hahah... I think the forum is a great way to get information and piece of mind
  19. Last but not least ENJOY!! i stressed so much with Gus and I now thing what the hell for...you learn from your dog and your dog learns from you and I think thats the best way to go about things. "sorry I dont know how to do the cool quote seperator thingggy""
  20. Ahahahh... mmmm I remember when Gus got into the compost and ate a rotten egg shell.... he did some terrible stinkers...Just keep an eye on her if it lasts more then a day or 2 I'd possibly go see the vet.
  21. Do you know what the Diarrhoea is from??, is the food to rich, or was he just wormed?? I think as long as he gets lots of fluids he should be ok without food for a day... he can survive without food for a day but because he is loosing a lot of water from the diarrhoea he will need something to replace the minerals and fluid he is loosing.. I think there are puppy electrolyte ice blocks (like the ones for humans)
  22. LOTS OF THINGS TO CHEW ON!!! ... and preferably with no stuffing as I have learnt they do not last... and dogs think stuffing tastes good until it gets stuck.
  23. Livers are actually more popular now then they ever have been, there is no more health risks, temperament differences or size differences associated with livers that dont apply to blacks, BAER is known as the brainstem auditory evoked response which is the dogs ability to interpret sound, they get tested at 6 weeks at earliest and if the breeder is a member of NSW dalmatian club then they do have a code of ethics to ad bide by if the pups are born deaf, uni-lateral hearing pups are totally fine as pets and can be sold but not bred from. Another health concern for the dally are stones.
  24. Well Gus is now 13 weeks old and he can Sit, Lay down, Roll over & Leave it all without food... very proud... Also this morning I fed the dogs, Nala gets fed in the Laundry .. Gus gets fed outside....... today I mixed it up because they were not very complient with the Gus out Nala in.... so Gus came in Nala went out....I left him to eat in peace..... came down half an hour later and..... MY BABY WAS IN HIS CRATE PLAYING WITH HIS TOYS AND LOOKING OW SO COMFORTABLE!!!! it was the proudest mummy Gus moment by far I was so happy because his crate isnt in a communial area so he just goes in there to sleep most of the time and its because I usually put him there, but to see him put himself there and enjoying it was just the tick of approval I needed, I think he is going to be a smart cookie if I channle his behaviour properly... its just a sigh of relief when your pup starts to do the right thing on their own accord its fabulous....
