My baby puts on 1.5 kg a week, at 4 months he was 13kg and he still looks like a skinny minni... as long as when you feel along his rib cage you can feel them and not see them prominatly his fine. -

A Conversation I Had To Share

no first we educate the government ... then we educate the 'animal professionals' then it will filter down to the public. You can't make the public responsible if the resources they go to are behind. This is true, there should be a prime time tv show called WHAT IT MEANS TO OWN A K9 - The responsible owners Guide :)... -

thats pretty sad.... I know that I assume everyone is responsible dog educated, and apparently thats not the case... the government should invest some money aside to educate the general australian public -
Purebred Sibes In A Pet Shop Window

I saw a shar pei in a pet shop box for 4 months at a price of $3,000.00... his nails were so long they were starting to curl over and his coat was starting to become thin in some spots.. It should just be illegal to sell pets at the markets, petshops, and websites.... -
What Fruit And Veges Do Your Dogs Like
TheCheekyMonster replied to pirate's topic in General Dog Discussion
I dont think you can compare the modern day fruit and vegetables, I some how don't think wolfs and canine would be getting banana, pear and tomato from their kills stomach.... basic root vegetables in some form yea maybe, but i find it a little hard to believe they would get, to any degree the variety of diet dogs get today.... I think the majority of their diet would have consisted of a carnivorous nature and if they were lucky there was an un digested root vegetable in the kills stomach....I also think they would be inclined to eat the stomach content because it is covered in blood and flesh remains...not because there is remains of a vegetable. -

I think the thought of dogs just eating meat is very primal....dogs have access to every food under the sun now... back in the day im not so sure they had ready access to carrots and pears :) meat would be the only thing running around.... I think this thread confirms that dogs like fruits and veggies a lot more then we do!! -
Gus gets strapped in.... if I didnt strap him in he would attempted to squeeze his body out of a window gap!!, not to mention him all over my lap when im trying to drive.. ow so dangerous...our crate is too big for the car, so I think using a doggie belt is as safe and accommodating as I can get.

Gus will eat everything, and anything he can get his paw on... so far, carrot, pear, bannana, lettus, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, squash has tried and loved them all. -
last night I got an empty plastic water bottle, put kibble, nuts and some cheese treats in there, Gus didn't know what to do with it for a while, sooo I played with it with him, rolling it around making his paws touch it... he quickly caught on that when he kicks the bottle around food comes out... its very simple but something Gus needs the kong was too complex for him, I think this is a good starting point to get his brain working some what logically, he really likes it now, when I got home from work we did a little crate training and then i left him in the laundry with the bottle filled with his dinner and favourite treats... (Gus gets fed twice a day so his pretty hungry when I get home).... maybe give this a try see how it goes for zoros main meals, then when you leave you can put the bottle out and he knows how to play with it. P.S I had the cap off so that the kibble came out a lot easier

Both dogs are always in the backyard loose all day (untill we get home) if there is thunder and lightning we will bring them in, but there is a big porch with covering so they both usually just snuggle under there together, they also have all their toys there soo they will often engage in a game of tug-o-war. :)

I dont know if Nicknames are good for when you first get a pup though.... I would first establish his/her name and after 6 months or so work in the nick names.... Gus - Goose

How Did You Choose Your Breed?
TheCheekyMonster replied to Jetshroom's topic in General Dog Discussion
Well, I have had Dalmatians growing up and I like a challenge, I didnt want a small dog, but not a large one either, I wanted one with long fur but then the thought of grooming turned me off :D hahah Every time i looked at other dogs there was a love but not to the same degree as the love I have for Dalmatians, not only do they carry a lot of childhood memories for me but I admire their stature and the way they carry themselves..... So what did I end up with.... an absolute goof ball that malts every day of the year. :D In saying this when I can financially support another dog I will be getting an AMstaff or some kind of mastiff, I think they are absolutely adorable. -
Lol we have 2 dogs sleeping in laundry - OH brothers room and balcony is ontop of the laundry. A few nights ago, some unwelcomed teenager broke into the house via climbing the tree and getting in through the balcony.... do you think the dogs made a peep? absolutely not!! but heaven forbid Nala hears a possum, then its on like donkey kong!! hahah.. we guard our dogs unfortunately not the other way around.

Kennel Name Suggestion Miniature Schnauzers
TheCheekyMonster replied to Ioana's topic in General Dog Discussion
Mini Bonbon?... then im out of ideas :) -
I have this problem with Kongs and like toys because getting Kibble out is to difficult Gus will give up sooo, i put peanut butter on the small end of the kong and freeze it then i boil some chicken and make a chicken stock, wait till it cools, , then get your chicken stock pour it into the kong (make sure its in a sandwich bag or something so if it leaks the bag catches it, seal the other end with more peanut butter, tie the bag up very tight throw it back in the freezer, the next day you have an all day licking adventure.... Gus likes it bit of effort but its all i got atm hahaha.

This happened to our two... Gus was a live wire and Nala's patience was wearing thin... she did end up giving him a little nip behind the ear when he tried to mount her one to many times.... now he knows his limit....Older dog will teach sundae what is acceptable and what is not.. just supervise and see that his being gentle about it...I honestly did not think that Nala hada caring bone in her, she is such a bossy little thing but she surprised everyone..... maybe dont let her eat out of her bowl though....that could be bordering dangerous territory if not now then later when Sundaes puppy pass has expired.
