Sorry what credentials do you have in order to comment on such behaviour?

TBH that just sounds like a nit pick and a some kind of fuel some poster was looking for in order to bring about a negative light.... I actually dont see any thing particularly alarming with the play, to me it looks like 2 dogs trying to figure out each others play style, no animal is in danger, bella seems actually confident towards the end, APBT looks like he just wants to join the fun but does not no how with such small things but it is being gentle and not over the top at all, I think people need to chill out and stop being so negative.... Those who have tried to throw some "educational" input to the thread, we dont care!, if we wanted to be educated we would participate in another thread. But as you may already know people who know about APBT are already educated about them... I know i certainly am and don’t particularly want to read another arrogant post about their nature and whatever knowledge you seem to have, iv heard it all, and so has everyone else. I don’t know why that cant be respected.

I understand they may be educational to some degree but read the other 5billion posts about the people who have never owned a pitty give education speeches about them, can someone not say they are an awesome dog without another person derailing the thread and throwing it off topic to the point where the thread is now pretty much an unpleasant one to read?

She was playing and was bolled over and the Pit Bull went over to make sure she was okay, another dog was growling at her and another pit bull stepped in front of Bella... those kind of things. I could suggest other interpretations of that behaviour Bella that have nothing to do with a larger dog's interest in 'protecting' your pup. And believe me when I say that , they are not breed specific. I'll repeat that for those who want to see what I'm saying as pit bull knocking. NOT BREED SPECIFIC. I could suggest, for example that a small pup, knocked over and possibly being rough housed can inspire strong predatory instincts in many dogs. Or that many a dominant dog will 'step up' to a dog they see as posturing in such a manner to any other dog in the vicinity. The posture of the dogs involved would have been enlightening but I'll conclude by saying that there are few dogs who act in the role of 'dog park police' for any reasons other than their self interest. Owners sometimes find out when that many dogs rush towards some kind of fracas in a multi-dog situations they are are not doing so to see if the dogs are alright. Pack behaviour can be both shocking and frightening for owners of pets not used to seeing it play out in multi-dog situations. You need to be careful about such things. Dogs are not people. Understanding that can put quite a different slant on things whether the breed involved is a Golden Retriever or a pit bull. I have to say that the most amazing thing about all of this is that not one, but 4 people have identified their dogs as a restricted breed in situations where the dogs simply shouldn't be if the owners are obeying the law in NSW. i see you are still here lol

Reasons Not To Own Your Breed
TheCheekyMonster replied to Salukifan's topic in General Dog Discussion
Not negative, perhaps just quirky :D I actually like seeing the quirks of other breeds ... for example I'd never guess a rottie loved lap cuddles! I didnt know what other word to use since it was a reason to "not" own a breed hahah they all have the same reason to not own them -
Reasons Not To Own Your Breed
TheCheekyMonster replied to Salukifan's topic in General Dog Discussion
wow all these different breeds, ow so similar "negative" traits... does this not just highlight the very importance of studying your breed, training and consistency :D Dont get an APBT if: you dont like being smothered with affection and kisses want a independant dog dont like walking a steam train if you like to water your garden in peace dont like water full stop dont want a massive sooky dog -
I think you mean "not what some of us would like the thread to be about". However, I'll opt out and return you to the sunshine and lollipops. Seriously, you've got a breed thread if that's what you want. Who'd have thought that in General, there'd be a group insisting on censorship. A less robust poster might think they were being bullied. im tempted to sound troll alert

Then you can make the valid points in the new thread that TW has felt the need to make :) Charming. God forbid we actually acknowledge that no breed is perfect. Unless of course, its yours eh? Far better to keep it all sunshine and lollipops than talk about breed characteristics, both postive and negative. I see little point in promoting purebred dogs unless a realistic and accurate picture is painted of breeds. Some of the points I've made in the other thread might help folk avoid making a poor choice or stop them wondering why a breeder knocked them back for a pup. But then, that would just be 'politics' now wouldn't it. ;) Sorry to be a real ball breaker but outlining the breeds unidealistic characteristics that can be present it not what the thread is about. Also stop generalising, there are quite a few greys that can and do live with cats and small fury animals... just like some APBT are excellent with families children and other dogs.

Besties with Gus? Sweet pics, she is beautiful, the one of her drinking is sweet also. I love the red nose :) ooowww yea hahah, His like the annoying brother she never had and she is such a great influence, the way she has taught him to approch other dogs absolute bliss, he is so so careful especially with the older ones... a little story... Nalah is actually the OH dog and we live together now... when I first met Nala getting a toy off her was a real mission... she loves her toys and is quite protective of them...when we brought Gus home she was cautious as to what this little excited thing was bouncing around her so we watched very carefully.... she then disappeared for a few seconds only to return with her favourite toy, she lay on the bed and offered her tug toy to him... it was so beautiful and OH and I were soooo amazed that she was wanting to share a toy
-
hahah :D One more and then ill stop bragging but Nala as a youngen
-
Nala berry... and Gus having a snuggle.... and Nala just having a love for running water in general!! another awesome thing about APBT they are complete water babies!!
-
APBT FOR THE WIN!! :D
-
So if a dog isn't on a lead its fair game? But the dog WAS on lead and for VERY GOOD REASON!!.....
-
My APBT is pretty much a teddy bear?.... it is like every other dog when it comes to breed selection for that individual...... she plays with my 6mo Dally pup like an absolute gem! and I have been able to leave them alone from the second week he came home.... a pitbull is like every other breed, it needs correct socialisation and leadership.... we had ducklings and she would sleep with them and attempt to groom them, and we know quite a few APBT who are exactly the same.
-
:) I love it when people bring up stories like this about our breed because they are honestly the most beautiful dogs when raised correctly like any dog!, unfortunately they are the GDS, Dobe, Rotty of the current century.... I wonder what breed will be isolated and victimised next.
-
.... that would be kinda cool
-
Thats actually a good question....
-
as you can see im a little excited.. I have never been!! and saw the add this morning

You being within very close proximity of your dog would have prevented this situation escalating to what it did, If I was to see a reactive dog from a distance and my dog bolting up to its general direction (if this was ever a scenario i encountered) my immediate reaction with no question would be to steer my dog in the complete opposite direction but by the sounds of it you were nowhere near your dog to do such a thing..... and your dog it not "out of control" but you obviously had no control over your dog or the situation.... now there are 2 innocent dogs whom the future is a little rocky for atm (I will call the other dog innocent because up until this point we have no idea that it has reacted violently to another dog or being), I hope you have learn something from this experience...

If the OP was near their dog or even had her dog in site this probably would not have been the out come..... there would have been some time between the dogs barking at eachother and the other dog breaking off leash and attacking.... to bad if there was a snake or something and forget it was even a dog that attacked the OP's grey.... what if it was a snake or something else.... the OP would have no control at all because they are no where near their dog!! its just ridiculous.... having your dog off lead running around like a free animal is one thing, being no where near it whilst it is doing so is another... irresponsible on both accounts.
