  1. Is it advised not to train there for a while or how do you go about it?
  2. Pup has been taken to the pound, the pound are keeping her for a week, I think he put his name against her like i said.... i also just told him he can ask to keep her at home whilst they wait for the owner to collect her... and he might go ask about that tomorrow.
  3. done - a little non specific and hard to be honest, also asks how many dogs but options cant be taked for both dogs.
  4. Yep, im going over there tonight to speak to him and his sister about it.... if they dont want to do that ill just do the sneaky and do it myself... give the pound pictures and his number for contact or mine.... i dont want this pup to end up in the wrong hands and i know my friend has his heart in the right place but they do not have the finances to keep up the health of this little one for the duration of her life so my aim is to get it back to its owner who are looking after it or make sure it goes to someone who is willing to make this pup part of their family and look after her properly......
  5. They are not "keeping" the pup, they are making sure she has the correct care until someone says something positive about her future if they hand her over. They did the correct thing by taking her to the vet but did not like the outcome of that, so yes I am trying to relay the proper procedure to go through and let them know she will be ok if she goes to the pound... people who have not had experience with the pound would not have a very good feeling about them, I know i dont... the boys would be over the moon if she had an owner come forward who knew about all the conditions and cared for her properly because they have no plans to bring a puppy home but if it means keeping her well then thats what they are pepared to do. Hopefully they do take her to the pound and she is cared for properly.
  6. I'll be seeing them tonight, so I will talk to them about it.... they will be a little hesitant though..just because they dont want her to be put to sleep and have had a professional attempt to do that already.
  7. Is this the law everywhere? or only in certain parts of Australia? i would think the vet would have done that/opted to do that instead of getting a needle ready? I will talk to them and tell them to do that, they have never done this before so i guess they are just worried she will go to a bad home more than anything, and if the owner does come to claim it what if they are what we assume? how do you then save the poor thing... any way thank you everyone for your input, I will let them know the correct thing to do is take her to the pound and ensure then she will be looked after and not destroyed.
  8. Well, he wanted to keep it because the vet was getting ready to PTS this morning, lol I think he did the right thing considering the circumstances, he is currently getting the dog checked out properly blood tests and scans then will go further in terms of the pound, i think its a little disheartning to take a pup to the vet wanting to help it then being told they will put it down there and then.....its previous owners clearly didnt know how to look after her properly.
  9. Well, the vet was going to put her down there and then.... and she is not registered or chipped. I will suggest they call the pound and see what to do about it, she is in pretty bad form by the sounds of it, do pounds look after the medical side of things in the mean time? the vet was in the wrong as well and if pup is only 8 weeks old might not have had time to be chipped. By the sounds of things the pup is just a stray but as pup does have some health problems it could make her look like she is unwanted. No way to know. I don't know what happens in NSW pounds but does you friend really want a sick dog to look after that may cost her a small fortune and be sickly all her life? Sound harsh I know but................. Let the proper authorities look after the pup, your friend can put her name down to adopt if pup is deemed fit for sale. And if she is PTS then that might well be the best option for her. I've never wanted to deal with pounds purely based on stories i hear.... he wants to give her 6 months and see if they can improve her quality of life before giving her up to authorities or a vet to pts. I did suggest they put posters of a missing dog not a description or photo because any idiot who sees a pit mutt always wants it and i don’t want this little girl to go to bad hands, she has quite a bad case of mange and a few scars on her face... so not sure if she belongs to someone, if she does i don’t want to know what kind of person they are....

  11. with happy tail, if you don't get it under control it often ends up with part of the tail being amputated. Ow god!, ok well crating him inside is not really an option... ill google happy tail and see what i can do.
  12. My dog is a never ending battle with EVERYTHING he is still a pup and he just hurts himself all the time!!, down stairs he nearly breaks legs, in any kind of space that isnt a football field his tail punishes everything in its path, just had an issue with marsh flies in the summer, he had some weird un known skin condition that only that tea fixed up, he has had bloody urine that after $500 was fixed on its own lmao, and every time i come home there is a cut, or scratch from something.... so many things!! lol i'd love to wrap him up in bubble wrap i really would.. it honestly does not seem to phase him AT ALL!! so i probably stress and worry for no reason but my dog is like my baby!! i over react haha.
  13. A friend of ours found a pup in a church carpark 2 nights a go which followed him home, she is around the 8 week mark and is a cross breed which may have staffy or pitbul in her. She was taken to the vet this morning, no micro chip or registration, she has a heart murmur, blood condition (not specific which one) and mange. The vet was going to put her down on the spot but he said no, he wanted to get further testing and try and improve the quality of life for the next 6 months to see how she progresses.... does anyone have any advise with looking after a pup like this?
  14. but this could not be done without learning the right way (is there a right way?) long term,or on a dog left alone - could it? the mind boggles lol any thing like dog sedation?? seems to be the only way i can grab his tail!
  15. I just bought this for my dogs. Feels extremely sturdy and comfortable. We have one as well. I love that it is easy to wash. And very snuggly. We got ours at Petstock. I wish my boy was still enough to chill out like that!!! how old is georgie and that bed looks so comfy!!
  16. Tried this this morning.... it came off within a few minutes.. not sure if im taping it tight enough or i need a better quality tape.... but his also biting it off which doesnt help. Its still flowing blood even through i examined the wound and it doesnt seem too deep at all, but he wags his tail so dam much its hard to tell!!.... Is it time for a vet or is there anything else I can try? what about corn flour?
  17. Yep, when we go to show training there is an older lady there and when she is going over Gus you hear "ow ouch, gosh thats a strong tail" all the time hahah poor lady and bloody gus!! I just cleaned it up and put some septicide on it, i did tape it up with some gauze that lasted a whole of 5 seconds, but its dried up now and the wound is superficial so hopefully it doesnt become infected
  18. I just bought this for my dogs. Feels extremely sturdy and comfortable. Where do you get them from?
  19. ow wow, I train there regularly with Gus so thanks for the heads up
  20. Gus gets very over excited at everything, and that tail is going crazy rain, hail or shine.. it hurts so much as well when he whips your shins omg thats the worst... maybe as he gets older he will get over the sheer excitment of everything that moves.
  21. ow its an actual thing? i thought i just had a pain in the ass puppy lol
  22. LOLOLOLOL!!!! that would make sence he must whack it on the corner of bricks or something, his got a real kangaroo tail as well so strong!, I just hope his not chewing it himself... because that i presume would be an issue.
  23. It heals, but happens again a few weeks later, lol so I'm not sure if i should be concerned or not, so sick of taking him to the vet! ....
  24. On 3 occasions I have seen the tip of Gus's tail bloody, when the blood dries up and is cleaned off, he is left with a furless tip of the tail, with scaly skin and the fur does not grow back. This morning I had let him inside to feed him and his tail was bloodier than I have ever seen it and he wags it like a crazy dog constantly so its very hard to look at and inspect... and blood was flying EVERYWHERE! he doesn’t seem to be phased by it, so do i let it go and just put it down to his nicked it on something or is it more serious than that? Like his biting his tail or something.... I don’t want to sound over paranoid but it doesn’t look right.
  25. Ow thats an awesome name!! hahah, well to be honest before getting Gus I had never heard of the purines thing either, our two other family dalls were in excellent health and were fed left overs. But Gus is a sensitive kind of guy so I need to be somewhat careful, personally I love his physic at the moment, his tummy is very neatly tucked in but OH things his ribs are visible, i cant see it... but i guess 2-3kg wont hurt him.
