He gets along with Nala just fine, and he was ok with Gus, just Gus was not ok with him... I didn't realise Gus was such a boss dog so I'm glad that I found out my own dog has a socialisation issue rather than Bandit. Took all 3 of them to a little beach in Gladesville yesterday they had a ball. Gus was being annoying and kept trying to mount him.. Bandit got the shits and told him off which I thought was well deserved and Gus backed off for the rest of the afternoon. All dogs had a wonderful sleep and no one was physically injured but I think got an ego bashing. -

Bit of an odd thing I discovered, he has been de-sexed but he still has what look like balls but higher up? is there part of the dog anatomy that I am unaware of? -

Sooooo excited for Ruth to snap him, he will be irresistible!!. Clyde I agree he just needs a little space with the bone, I am doing some positive associate training with him with bones and meaty objects and his doing fine maybe just the owner made him nervious lucky there are no small children where we are so its something I will inform any prospective adoptees about, he is excellent with Kids but they need to know how to interact with him. The photos I have don't do him justice and I did think he was a pit mix when I first saw them or even kelpie but in the flesh he looks very different much smaller head is less elongated as well because the owner was animate he was a purebred I was very sceptical until I saw him but who knows. -

His colour may not be desirable and he may not be a show dog or a well bred staffy could be BYB job so the term "purebred" its probably not correct to use but he is pretty darn close and he is not a pit mix or any other bully breed mix, he wouldn't be as well put together but hey his an awesome dog none the less and as I stated don't have papers so couldn't be 100%. He is also not from the pound....And I don't think not feeding him bones is a very good solution but thanks anyway. -

Here is another one that was sent from the owner but they don't do him any justice I need to get some of my own. His better behaved than my two. He had a great play with a greyhound yesterday off lead and his attention is easy to break, he also checks in and followed me if I walked away such a good boy im so impressed. -

Are you getting him desexed? So if you aren't willing to have him assessed, you'll disclose this problem to potential adoptees then? I think you need to read back through my posts, yes I have already got him desexed and not disclosing this wouldn't be of any benefit to anyone, I want him to find the best possible home, preferably with people who have owned dogs before its not a massive problem things could be worse. I also could you suggest a behaviourist who would do an assessment? In my honest opinion I do believe he is a purebred, but he has no papers so cant be 100% his a very nicely put together boy, its my lucky week by phone has broken into pieces so I don't have any other photos at this point in time. I know he was purchased from Orange, and Owner said he is 2 next month. But his chest hasn't filled out quite yet so I have a feeling he might be a little younger, or he could just be small. 13.5kg for a male staffy is a good size, ill measure him from the weathers and see how he stacks up to the standard (not that it makes him a pure bred) but good to know. -

He is possessive over meaty bone because it was very new to him and he obviously saw this as an extremely high value food. I have gone near him when he is eating kibble and chicken frame same reaction did not occur. If any behaviourist is willing to give a free assessment I am all up for it. -

I have Bandit!! and he is wonderful!!. He is very possessive over bones and wont let you go near him when his eating one the owner said he had never growled like that before but then again she never gave him meaty bones. So that's something I will need to work on. He walks beautifully on lead, and is an exceptionally well mannered house dog, loves to just cuddle and is the biggest sooky boy. He doesn't whine or whinge when you put him outside but he does still have a lot of puppy behaviours, very mouthy and jumps up, basic commands he doesn't really know but his a very quick learner so I'm sure it wont be an issue. Other dogs get his attention very quickly but he is calm on approach and sniffs and you can break his distraction and call him away on lead, I haven't tried an off lead introduction I think I'll wait for his stitches to heal over. Over all great dog, and hopefully he gets placed quickly because my family are getting more than attached to the little bugger. -

Yes I am getting him de-sexed, he apparently does get along well with children and other dogs. But I do have crates. I am lucky with my situation, my partners dad has been wanting to foster for a long time they have no dogs huge back yard and very well fenced and I live up the road from them, so he will be biased there and getting lots of human attention and interaction with my partners family. I will be over every day for walks and training and slow introductions with Gus he is a better candidate for introductions than Nala I think she is picky. Yes he might look familiar because Big Dog Rescue are helping me with finding him a forever home and I have posted a few things on my facebook page. Also if anyone is able to help me out with assessment that would be super :D!! or point me in a direction to a good temperament assessor :). He is 2 years old and from what the owner tells me well behaved, trained/house trained and socialised but I will confirm that when he comes to me this weekend. I'm excited and nervous about this but I know how full rescue centres are and the owner is very, very distressed she would rather put him down then leave him with a pound. -

He is pretty cute!, not sure if he gets along with other dogs though, I don't know the dog personally. -
A friend of mine has sent me this email this morning, I would take him but I'm not in sydney this weekend "I have had a call this morning from a relative of a close friend. She has had to leave her home due to domestic violence, with the kids and two dogs. The Labrador is going with her to her Mum's but she cannot take the second dog. He is a small staffy mix but not desexed. She has to leave on the weekend and the girl she isstaying with already has two dogs, one is not dig friendly with little one, doher dogs are tied up. I have sent a message to Pound Rounds, but we are fulland need any space that comes up for the next week's kill list. If no other option I will advise them to take him toBlacktown Pound, they only euthanize when they are full."" If anyone is able to suggest anything or help out comments are very welcome and thank you in advanced.

Best Foods For Weight Gain?
TheCheekyMonster replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Haredown Whippets sometimes food just isnt enough I feed Gus a hell of a lot, 5 cups of kibble, chicken wings eggs and sardines I have had real trouble keeping weight on Gus, I just acquired some Super Fuel its been 1 week his already starting to look a little fuller, I can see less rib cage and less spine and tail bone, its not a drastic change its only been a week but there is a slight change in body fat % -
Nala's way of arguing is getting on the highest point of the back yard and sitting there looking down at Gus's tormenting bum wiggle

Agility Training Talk Thread
TheCheekyMonster replied to Vickie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Ow awesome!, its a little harder to keep focus when people are letting their dogs play in the line! that was a little distracting Gus is very dog orientated, other dogs excite him so being in that environment really gets his tail wagging, trying to redirect his attention is achievable sometimes, trying to redirect his attention when there are two dogs having a jolly ol' play session next to him.... not so achievable hahah. I did notice it was a very big crowed its great! more people to meet. -
Agility Training Talk Thread
TheCheekyMonster replied to Vickie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
We started agility at Castle Hill last week, Gus is a pretty hyper active, selectively hearing dog in the first place so the first time was a little overwhelming for him I think lots of other dogs (his not great at ignoring them just yet) but lastnight I think he did great!! definatly going to get more into this sport I think it seems like heaps of fun so far and Gus doesn't seem phased by the tunnel, tyre or wobble board. -
I was looking on vetnpet direct for some tar/coal shampoo. I found a horse one, just wondering if its ok to use on dogs? its equis fre-itch active ingredients are 4g/l Cresol & 2g/l Cetrimide
