  1. What are the microchipping laws in Queensland in regards to an animal being sold or given away? Do they need to be microchipped by the breeder or by the person the animal is sold to at the point of sale? Can they be offered for sale before they are microchipped? How easy is it to change the owner details on the chip? Have looked, and can't find any clear cut answers. thanks edited to add 2 more questions
  2. Dog looked friendly enough in the video Lilli? posted- throwing ideas around...who's to say that they weren't well socialized blah, blah, blah? Some breeds are more predisposed to certain types of behaviour- They had apparently never demonstrated aggression of that type before (well that's what I got out of it)- how was the owner to know his fence wasn't high enough to contain them? the dogs who attacked my then pup hadn't ever attacked before either- well that is what I was told by their owners (apart from one who kept a stray)
  3. I have an all new respect for bull breeds now since getting a dog. While out walking my dog, if I see one I make a prompt u-turn and head back the other way. Of the 3 times my dog has been attacked (and a 4th prevented attack - other dog was on a leash and across the road) while on leash, and being a small young puppy, all have been by bull breeds and all to the bull breed owners dismay. I have no problem while out walking without my dog though. I hope the boy recovers well.
  4. Haha no worries- I did it before I saw anyone had agreed to give it a go- Was just a bit of fun
  5. Because he believed (I guess like the breeder before him) that the dog was only going to be enjoyed as a pet and not used for breeding at all. He is also unaware of how large scale of backyard breeding actually is- and is in denial that the dog he wanted to keep, is being used in this way.
  6. Yes, that's what I would do -access the situation for what it is- and I expect most would do the same- My partners parents do not breed or show and never have. They keep dogs as strictly pets and the breeder obviously thought that this dog was going to its last 'forever home' and was going to be safe from breeding (so easy how things can fall through the cracks) I do know that my partners dad has a preference for entire males even though he's never bred. I do not know why my partners dad didn't give the dog back to its breeder, but can only guess it had something to do with pride.
  7. yeah, you're right is has been done to death. But this dog had already been returned once- I would have naturally thought any breeder would have desexed unless going to a show home ect
  8. Is it not better to wait until after a year to desex though Juice?
  9. Yeah, was quite surprised when I saw that he wasn't desexed when they got him, and on Main register papers. of course the people breeding him are using it to their full advantage and selling the pups for what a pure registered litter would go for.
  10. Anyway- guess just writing this makes me feel a bit better as my partner doesn't want to talk about it and like I said, his dad is in denial - kind of like sweeping it under the rug. There's no getting through to some people I guess. We offered to help them with the dog -being that he was no puppy when they got him and had some behavioural issues that could have been sorted with some proper training- they were not new to his breed- as had owned one before. They have no idea where this dog is (the people who have him won't answer calls ect) as they weren't friends of the family like my partner and I first thought.
  11. Just found out a couple of days ago through FB, that a dog that came into my partners family earlier this year (and left a few months later) is now being used as a source of income from the scum who took him on because his new home didn't work out. This of course could have all been prevented had he of been desexed (who would have thunk it??) My partner's dad is in denial, and I'm angry- angry that they GAVE away a whole male dog, angry that they didn't contact the breeder for help (who made it clear that they didn't want him used as a breeding animal from word go), angry that they trusted those who took him to do the right thing. So if a dog or bitch (note- adult, not puppy) is returned to you- do you desex it before it is then rehomed again or do you let the new owners decide? *Note this dog had already been in a previous home- which didn't work out and the dog was given back to his breeder at around 15 months who then rehomed him to my partners family-
  12. I found with my dog, after the molars came through at around a year , she was less inclined to chew. I still give her empty milk bottles ect to play with and chew on through- she loves them and will happily chew for ages.
  13. Same here, my pup was bought without me ever meeting her until she was picked up by me at the airport. Of course, I thoroughly checked her breeder out (google is great!) first before handing over any money!
  14. Frodo's mum- Such a pretty boy :) Sway- Thanks for clearing up his colour
  15. Love this thread! Will upload once I'm on the computer :)
  16. Cool, thanks everybody :) love the look of their gear- good to know that it'll standup.
  17. K9 pro have a promotion going on at the moment, and I'm considering getting one of their deals... Who has a k9pro dog collar, are they any good and do they last? I need something that's going to be durable and strong something that can be worn everyday as well as out and about. cheers :)
  18. I've recently joined fb, and the amount of people who won't take found pets to the pound is astonishing- and very disappointing. One said that the pound was full of diseases and ticks ticks?!- where the hell do these people get their information from? I've removed myself (from these sorts of groups) as I couldn't bear the stupidity...
  19. quoted from their advert. Father of the pups is a black and tan cavalier...location Gawler S.A. Yep but that doesn't mean they own the stud dog. So what if they do? What will be done? Surely there must be some ramifications?
