  1. you're not wrong! they're everywhere here (fnq) -everyone one wants one...
  2. actually after reading the intial post again- I've got alarm bells ringing... it is weird to only have the sires info sent but nothing of the dams. Did this breeder have a prefix? How did you find this breeder? Worse case scenario- someone has bought a dog on Mains or Limited (main or limited register with DogsQLD) and is breeding it to Staffords either registered or not, creating "pure" pups which are then not able to be registered with Dogsqld because neither they nor the bitch/es used are registered. I see this all the time on FB - "sire has papers" or "dam and sire have papers- but the pups have no papers" Limited x Limited = None Limited x none = None Main x none = None Main x Limited = None Main x Main = Main or Limited (breeder decides)
  3. I don't find it weird- I got photocopies of my pup's parent's pedigrees as well - it was good to have a hardcopy of those while I waited (for what seemed like ages!) for my pups pedigree certificate :)
  4. when we got our pup- I remember it took ages (12 weeks) for her pedigree certificate to be sent out to us. With her certificate came a copy of both sire and dams hip and elbow scores her vaccination record, her worming record, her micro chip number and certificate amongst a few other things. Contact the breeder- hopefully your (official) pedigree is still being processed by DogsQLD edited: I just remembered that we received everything I just said- before her pedigree certificate- that was the one that took 3 months to get here. Everything else came with the pup in a large envelope when we picked her up from the airport. :)
  5. Ours took great joy in ripping everything off of the line and strewing it about the yard- so we've fenced ours off temporarily with pool fencing and star pickets- every now and then we'll leave the (makeshift) gate open and test her (17 months)...so far the temptation has proved to have been too great.
  6. how do we go about it to make them act? and how do we police those who bypass their state's laws?
  7. I was thinking about this last night, and thought wouldn't it be wonderful if, at a bare minimum that byb's had to health test the parent dogs for genetic diseases. - would stop a lot dead in their tracks  They should have something in place for byb'rs - even if it were to follow up ads to see if they had permits to breed(not sure about all councils- but certainly my council you must- but people ignore it...). What would stop them in their tracks is being pulled up and fined under the current laws requiring microchipping and vaccination of pups - not to mention selling them aged under 8 weeks. Not hard to find them - they are advertised all over places like Gumtree - get the rangers out there and fine them. The cost of vaccinating and microchipping an entire litter isn't cheap, and if hit by fines for not doing it, that will hit the hip pocket too. T. Being fined would- if they would track them down and do it- (it's not happening as far as I'm aware) My state (QLD) calls for "should be" at least 8 weeks before sale in the dpi for pets code so is open to interpretation. I also don't think they have to be vaccinated before sale but they do need to be micro chipped at 8 weeks when being offered for sale or giveaway...this is how many are getting around it- selling at 6-7 weeks because "should be" is not "must be"
  8. Actually I think there are Breeders who do all the right things and deserve the respect and there certainly are greeders, they pump out byb dogs, and designer breeds with no health testing or vision. Their only aim is to make money. So call greeders, grubs or puppy farmers, anything to distance them from real Breeders. This. The general public often doesn't make a distinction between breeders who are breeding to the standard, health-testing, researching pedigrees ect and those who whack two dogs together to make a quick profit. They both "breeders" to them. Yep. Also, to a member of the general public, breeders rehoming dogs looks like they have no need for them anymore. Whilst I understand why breeders do this and don't have an issue with it, it's not something I could ever do, i.e. give away or rehome one my my dogs, because they are like my family, so I can see why a lot of people see that as a negative thing. I haven't really noticed as much as I have with pb cats. I see more "everyday" people trying to re-home their mutt or "pure" as can't keep them contained or are moving or have had a baby ect, ect.

  11. I started my pup when she was 12 weeks due to allergies- but some people give raw right after they're weaned as a preference to dried/canned food. Not sure, but I think grapes are toxic to dogs..?
  12. I'm with you minimax^ I've heard this sort of thing happening with equines- not so surprised it's happening with dogs.
  13. You're probably spot on there...the whole face looks 'odd'.
  14. Yes, and he happens to be a cat. How do you discipline a cat!?
  15. Exactly. You could also report him to the property manager and ask that they take action against him. He not only lets his dog run loose, but he has now threatened you as well. You are entitled to quiet enjoyment of your property. This man needs to be told to leave you alone. I'd do this too. All of this. The man is an idiot who thinks he can stop you by threatening you- I'd keep reporting him (if I were you) when he does the wrong thing.
  16. I could understand if you had a bad reputation (google is wondrous!) and/or were not a current financial member of your dog controlling body of your state. Not saying any of those apply to you- sometimes breeders only can go by their 'gut' feelings- or all maybe good but the breeder is wanting to keep the pick bitch for themselves. In my last litter I wouldn't sell a bitch puppy to someone cause they already had a bitch(desexed). Fairly new dog owners but I did sell let them adopt a male. yep, can understand- bitches can certainly get nasty with each other- this wasn't just about the sex though- it was about also being on the main register I was talking about main register dogs. ah okay. I was lucky enough to have been introduced to pedigree dogs by my mother who taught me a lot that I might not have normally known. I always find it strange that main register entire dogs (and bitches) are offered to people who have no interest in showing or other ANKC events. To me it seems a bit of a waste or an excellent opportunity for the unscrupulous buyer - who can then advertise litters with a 'main pedigree parent'. I've seen enough of your posts though, to know you'd never sell knowingly to such a person. My point to Joany was that breeders may have very good reason- as you did. (: Thank you :) The dog was shown and titled by his new owner.

  21. Anyone keen on putting a more realistic video together? This one here wants to show the worst traits and not the average traits imo
  22. I love this idea! it could also mean that the animal could stay with the person(if they so wanted and if the pound allowed it)who found it until the owner was found rather than go and take up another space at the pound.
  23. when you're not allowed to check the cat's litter tray for any poo treats
  24. when the cat gets to eat before you do
  25. Council registrations I assume you mean :) Considering nothing on that show even vaguely reminded me of a Maltese you seriously have to wonder about what else council statistics are saying! True that! And I was wondering the same thing.
