  1. Also, don't get a Rottweiler if - You're not confident in establishing and maintaining leadership - You're not willing to socialise your dog - You're not willing to do at least a basic level of obedience training - You don't like your dog leaning on you, hitting you with his foot, and generally being very interactive Just replace Rottweiler with German Shepherd as they are also like this!
  2. They're not yet a breed are they- when will they become one, anyone know? If they became a breed, wouldn't their temperament become more predictable? I've always heard that they are big sooks ect ect- and then one day they just snap. I guess, I'm a little afraid- I would never own one with all the animals we have + our 3 kids. and yes...I know a couple of people who have/had them. Paranoid I know (media does not help!).
  3. Haha so true... There's an oodle (GR X Poodle)at obedience- the owner is eerily similar!
  4. Wow- I may be way off but you sound so condescending! All this person wanted was for her puppy's registration papers to be correct- Her NAME and ADDRESS were wrong- Why should it matter if the pup is on the limited or regular registry?- That is the whole point of having papers isn't it? As for the name, well it just may be that that particular name wasn't available- but still the breeder should have made this known if this was the case to AVOID confusion. It is hard getting a PB puppy/kitten from a breeder sometimes- the average person doesn't know about a lot of the things seasoned breeders do or expect. All in all- The OP only wanted her correct details, which obviously didn't happen.
  5. ^I googled and got this: I always thought it was to stop them from accidently killing fluffy cats and the like! LOL
  6. They say that the dog that attacked the girl in Melbourne was a Rhodesian Ridgeback cross.
  7. I'd give him back to his breeder- before I got too attached- but that's me. I'd also drive him there myself and NOT meet her halfway...
  8. Looks like a X breed pup (Cav x perhaps?) I don't see a Golden Retriever. Good luck with him- he's a cutie!
  9. Nah- I only got a bit annoyed that when my OH asked for just a heartwormer he was given something else (like he didn't know any better) instead.
  10. Interesting - I've heard about worming every now and then, how often do you worm your dogs (when they're not around livestock)? Do you take a sample every 3 or so months to have tested? Cheers
  11. Mine is mostly black, and stays completely out of the sun- won't go in it at all (on her own)! Don't blame her- we live in the tropics, and it's HOT!
  12. Okay, had to go to the vets as I missed out on ordering online over Chrissy (may not have gotten here in time doh!) Anyway I asked for heartworm tablets that only do Heartworm. The receptionist went on a spill about how it works out 'cheaper' to do the combined wormer/heartwormer in the one tablet. I said to her that she's getting wormed every 3 months and that the extra wormer in the heartworm tablet is not needed...Well she went on to say that it is at a lower dose, and that it was perfectly fine to give once a month... She also went on to say that because I wanted the heartworm that only does heartworm, then I'll need to give her her other wormer 1 week from today as apparently that's when her previous wormer will 'run out' in her system. Bleh- I was a bit annoyed actually, as my OH picked her heartworm tablet up the last time round - and I specifically told him to ask for HEARTWORM ONLY! and they gave him Interceptor!!!(same vets, same receptionist) but all is good- we got the Heartguard that only treats for heartworm. :D
  13. Oops sorry, on iPhone- seems it doesn't want to edit!
  14. And this is from cccq (Dogs Queensland)
  15. And this is form cccq (dogs Queensland)
  16. http://www.dpi.qld.gov.au/documents/AnimalIndustries_AnimalWelfareAndEthics/QldCodeOfPracticeForPetShops.pdf It just says 'should' -
  17. That's absolutely disgusting. I wish there was a crackdown on these (and all) bybs. Spit them out, sell them early - make money. What C****
  18. OP, you've received some great advice- and hopefully your pups on the mend.
  19. Hasn't your pup had his 2nd vaccinations yet? You wouldn't have to worry about Parvo if he had.
  20. 4 weeks is nothing, especially when it comes down to the risk to the animal IMO.
  21. I was paranoid about Parvo and so my pup stayed home until her 2nd 12 week vaccinations. Did your pup get his 1st vaccinations?- you should have a vax/certificate card proving that he did. Also his papers (which will be orange or blue for NSW) should have 3 generations of his ancestry, his registered name and his breeders details, as well as your details on them. It's important to have this, in this day and age with all the hype and bans coming into place.
